Chapter 20
(Juliette's POV).
We arrived at the beachside restaurant. There were a lot of people on the other side of the restaurant which was more open. The atmosphere was very cool with the wind blowing quite calmly while the beach was filled with people swimming or playing on the beach. Some of them chose to relax in the gazebo and enjoy the delicious food served by reliable chefs in each of the available restaurants.
I was a little confused because the restaurant we went to was empty of visitors even though I think this restaurant is much better than other restaurants.
"Why is it just the two of us?" I asked as I stared at the expanse of sea that looked shining because of the reflection of the moonlight. I could feel Damian walking over to me and putting his arm around my waist.
"I booked this place on purpose. Just for the two of us," he said.
"What?!" I was surprised that my voice came out quite loud. I was too surprised by his statement to make him laugh.
"Does that sound weird? You don't like it?" he leaned over so that he was speaking right into my face. And now I could feel my face heating up in the cold night breeze.
"I'm just a little surprised. And it must have cost you a lot of money since you rented all the space in this restaurant," I said.
"Not so much. I don't want any disturbances," he whispered. He brought his face closer to mine and grinned. "It's worth dinner with a beautiful woman anyway."
No doubt, Damian could always win my heart with his sweet words. My cheeks are already bright red and hot. Maybe if I put the eggs on top of my cheeks, they would be perfectly cooked.
"Come here." He took me to the center of the room and told me to sit down while pulling out a chair for me. His sweet and caring demeanor always managed to take my breath away. He had his way of making me fall for him even more and slowly forget my pain and love for Sam.
After we sat, one of the waitresses came over to our table. She gave us two menu books and handed one to each of us. Many menus looked very delicious to eat. I was curious about some of the menus that I was interested in tasting, but I didn't know if Damian would like them or not.
"How is it? Have you decided what you want to eat?"
"Uh, I'm confused," I confessed.
He frowned. "Order whatever you want. I don't mind at all," he said gently.
After hearing Damian's words, I ordered all the food I wanted. Meanwhile, Damian ordered a meal and a bottle of wine.
"Can you drink?" he asked.
I shook my head. "I'm bad at it," I admitted.
"Just have a few sips."
"But is it okay for you to drink wine? You're driving the car," I said, a little worried. It's a few hours' drive from here to home.
"I have a tolerance for alcohol. Don't worry," he said.
I nodded and looked at him without blinking. He had a firm jawline that made him look authoritative. His facial expression was always calm and even so, there was a cold and intimidating impression whenever I looked at him. But when he smiles, all that goes away and is replaced by a handsome look that I don't think any man has. He even has a very nice body that all women would go crazy over.
And he was my Mate. My Alpha. It's unbelievable that we have this kind of relationship when we've never interacted with each other in the past.
"You're daydreaming again, Juliette," he said, snapping me out of my reverie. "What on earth are you thinking about?"
"N-Nothing," I stammered.
"When you're with me. Focus on me, not on anything else," he protested. But in my ears, it felt like a command.
"I'm not thinking about anything else."
"Then what are you thinking about? Tell me."
I blinked, misbehaving as Damian stared at me intently with his dark black eyes. His gaze was like he was stripping me naked and I couldn't handle it.
I bit my lower lip nervously. "Thinking of you?" I whispered.
"Me?" He grinned.
"It's not what you think!" I protested immediately while covering his face with my palm. It felt so embarrassing when Damian looked at me as if I was thinking something dirty about him. It made me feel like I was a perverted woman.
"Then what? Clarify so that I don't misunderstand."
"T-That's...."
How can I say that I thought of how handsome he is and how lucky I am to have him? I could die of embarrassment.
"Excuse me, your order."
"Oh, yes. Thank you!" I immediately breathed a sigh of relief when the male waiter came to bring our order. I was safe because of him.
As the waiter put all the food on the table, I stole a glance at Damian and I caught him looking at me with a smirk.
He really is crazy!
That night was so much fun. I felt so happy that I was able to spend such a wonderful time with Damian. He treated me so special that I felt like the luckiest woman in the world.
Throughout the way home, he kept holding my hand without letting go. When we arrived, he opened the car door and let me out in such a gentle way.
"I'm very happy today," I smiled at him, "thank you, Damian."
"Will I get a reward for it?"
"A reward?"
"A little peck, for example?"
I blushed, but I didn't refuse his request. I shyly stood on my tiptoes and kissed his cheek.
"I love you, Damian," I whispered.
"Oh, God..." He growled as he pulled my waist quickly. My body pressed against his and I could feel the warmth of his body radiating into mine, coalescing into a heat that brought forth a shiver. "Do it one more time," he whispered in my face.
"What?" I asked. "A kiss?"
He shook his head. "When you say that you love me. Say it one more time."
Instantly my face heated up with embarrassment. My heart was beating very fast.
"I-I love you, Damian."
He growls. "I loved how when you say it, Juliette." He pressed his forehead against mine and whispered, "And you've driven me crazy without mercy."
