Chapter 10 ALPHA INSTINCTS

Chapter 10 ALPHA INSTINCTS
Edeline

Percival's wolf was quick to react, standing tall as his brother struggled to rise. Claws dug into flesh, spittle dripped from his muzzle, and teeth snapped with fierce determination. My breath hitched—this was no ordinary fight. Percival, the firstborn alpha son, was proving too strong for Darius. This would easily be one of the most intense wolf fights ever witnessed, if it were real.

Percival's right front claw dug into the juvenile’s chest, keeping his weight on him. His long, sharp teeth bit into Darius's shoulder, causing a sharp yelp to escape. It was brutal, and I felt a mix of fear and helplessness. Percival’s anger was palpable; he wanted to harm Darius, to assert his dominance.

As the pressure increased, blood oozed from Darius, but he refused to give in or show weakness. Despite knowing he could never surpass his brother, he fought back with a fierce determination. I could see the desperation in his eyes, and it tugged at something deep inside me.

Percival was really angry, his eyes blazing with fury, and his intentions were clear. He wanted to hurt his brother, to end the threat Darius posed. The sight made my stomach churn, but I couldn’t look away.

Both of their wolves had reached their full potential, and the fight before me was a chaotic clash of raw instincts. There was no logical thinking in this brawl, just a primal struggle. They didn't realize how deeply connected they were in this moment, and it all went right over my head. Instinct against instinct.

I let out a loud yell as the rest of the pack surged forward. The Alpha and my dad, already shifting into their wolves from a distance, raced to break up the fight. I spotted Tatiana, her eyes brimming with worry, tears streaming down her face as she desperately shouted for Percival to stop.

Just as Alpha William and my dad were about to reach them, something inside me snapped. My wolf took over completely, pushing me aside and seizing control. I felt a surge of primal energy, a fierce urgency that drowned out everything else.

Without a moment's hesitation, I sprinted toward the crowd. My clothes ripped apart as my wolf forced her way through the throng surrounding the two battling brothers. I hung back, observing but not intervening, trying to make sense of the scene through the haze of my wolf’s instincts.

Blood splattered, and the sounds of growling filled the air. My wolf crouched low, ready to dive back into the fray. With a powerful growl, she leaped into the chaos, landing squarely between the two wolves. Instantly, the brothers pulled back, recognizing the female wolf they both cared for in their own ways.

My wolf barked sharply at each of them, a clear warning. She stayed low, teeth bared, while the brothers continued to growl and bark from either side of me.

Watching this, I could feel my wolf’s frustration. She was distressed to see her mate and her best friend hurting each other. It was agonizing for her, wanting to comfort both, but the drive to protect our mate was overwhelming. I was sidelined, my thoughts pushed to the background as her instincts took the reins. The fight was intense, and while she had everything under control, I felt like a spectator in my own mind.

My wolf stepped between the male wolves, and I turned my head to growl a warning at them. Normally laid-back, she wasn’t about to tolerate this. Percival took a step back and growled at me, clearly displeased with our interference. He understood it was my wolf's doing, not mine.

Both brothers were momentarily absent from their own actions, lost in their wolves’ instincts. Three wolves, each driven by their natural impulses, clashed and struggled in their own ways.

Darius’s head tilted slightly, a flush of embarrassment coloring his cheeks as his human side gradually wrestled control back from his wolf’s primal instincts. When Percival locked eyes with him, he responded with a toothy grin that showcased his sharp, blood-stained teeth. Both wolves had streaks of blood smeared across their muzzles.

By the time the Alpha and my father arrived, the fight was already in full swing. If the brothers hadn't been so hell-bent on taking each other down, things might have played out differently. Normally, we might have let them sort it out themselves, letting them duke it out until one of them gave in. But it was downright embarrassing to have a woman step in and break up their fight. Both of them were acting pretty immature, and it was clear as day.

Now that the males were safe, my wolf had finally started to settle down, which allowed me to step forward and regain control. I trusted my gut and pushed through, taking charge.

Alpha William stood imposingly, barking orders at his sons, clearly displeased with their behavior. All three of the brothers were injured, their torn flesh oozing blood from their wounds.

I took a step back, feeling a bit awkward about how my wolf had taken over for a moment. But honestly, there was no need to feel ashamed. It’s just what happens when emotions run too high for our wolves to manage.

I felt my dad’s comforting presence behind me, a gentle vibration in the air. He nudged me playfully and licked my muzzle affectionately, a signal to relax. With the conflict resolved for now, I slowly backed away, easing my growls as I sat down next to my dad.

When the Alpha shifted, I looked away politely. It’s pretty common to see skin in this world, but with my dad right there, I didn’t want to feel awkward.

“Hey, you two! Move it! Now!” Alpha William’s voice cut through the chaos, commanding and impossible to ignore. Even though his order wasn’t directed at me, I felt a powerful urge to shift. It’s just one of those instincts that kicks in, you know?

Keeping my head down, I could hear the unsettling sounds of bones snapping and shifting, mixed with the brothers’ strained grunts as they fought to regain control. I felt my dad’s gentle nudge against me, a silent message that it was time to head home.
