Chapter 28 Cute
"Mr. Miller, did you call the wrong name?"
Olivia said urgently, "My daughter is Bianca, not Isabella."
Just then, her heart skipped a beat too.
Hearing the name "Isabella" from Joseph's mouth was really too unexpected.
Hearing Olivia's words, Joseph's expression changed. He quickly turned to look at Bianca, a bit surprised, "You're not Isabella?"
Bianca shook her head, looking somewhat confused, "I'm not..."
"Then you've got it wrong. I came here today to find Isabella."
"Which one of you is Isabella?" Joseph looked at the group of rich girls.
They looked at each other in confusion, not understanding what was going on.
Joseph frowned, "What? Isabella isn't here?"
Hearing this name again, Bianca's face darkened. A flash of viciousness crossed her originally gentle and harmless face.
How could he be looking for Isabella?
How could that bitch deserve to have Joseph tutor her...
"Mr. Miller, are you sure you haven't made a mistake?"
Olivia felt this must be a misunderstanding.
What she had sent Joseph was clearly Bianca's report card, and she had made it very clear on the phone that she was asking him to come tutor Bianca.
How could it suddenly become Isabella?
"How could I possibly be mistaken?" Joseph's expression showed some impatience, "I'm looking for Isabella. Mrs. Taylor, is Isabella home or not? If she is, please have her come down."
Since Joseph had said this much, Olivia quickly instructed Yves, "Go get her."
"Yes."
Yves hurried off to fetch her.
"Bianca, what's going on?"
The rich girls on the side couldn't hold back anymore and started asking questions.
"Didn't you say Mr. Miller came to tutor you? How did it become Isabella?"
"Right, isn't Isabella your family's housekeeper's child?"
"Don't tell me your mom specially asked Mr. Miller to come tutor Isabella?"
"She's just a housekeeper's child, does she deserve it?"
"..."
Bianca's face turned pale as she clenched her fists tightly, "I don't know what's going on either. We'll talk when Isabella comes down."
Hearing these people's discussion, Joseph immediately understood.
So the girl William mentioned was the Taylor family's housekeeper's child.
No wonder this family reacted this way.
On the other side, Yves knocked on Isabella's door.
Isabella was woken from her sleep and poked her head out from under the covers, looking coldly toward the door.
"Who is it?"
"Ms. Taylor, it's me," Yves called out. "Mrs. Taylor says you should come down. A teacher has arrived and says he's here to see you."
Isabella blinked a few times.
A teacher?
She vaguely remembered the post she had put online yesterday.
In the post, she said she was looking for a tutor, specified the pay and benefits, and even noted the address of the Taylor Villa, saying interested parties could come directly for an interview.
She hadn't expected it to work so quickly - an interview candidate had already shown up.
"Got it, give me a minute."
Isabella frowned as she climbed out of bed and went to pull open the curtains.
She took her time getting ready, opened a drawer, took out some test papers she had printed in advance, and went downstairs.
——
"Mr. Miller, Isabella is here."
As Olivia finished speaking, the rich girls looked over and immediately fell silent.
The air went quiet for a moment.
"She..."
"How is she..."
Abigail, Evelyn and the others all stared at Isabella in shock.
The Isabella before them was completely different from what they had seen before.
They had seen Isabella's ugly makeup, but they hadn't expected that hidden beneath that heavy makeup was such a beautiful face.
It was a face that absolutely surpassed any of the rich girls in beauty, with features so perfect they were flawless.
They could all tell Isabella was wearing absolutely no makeup right now, yet her sudden appearance was so stunning it took their breath away.
Except for the Taylor family members who had seen Isabella's bare face before, everyone else was stunned.
Bianca clenched her fists so tightly her nails dug into her palms.
She knew it.
She knew that once Isabella stopped wearing makeup, she would immediately steal all the attention that had been on her.
This bitch.
Why did she have to come back?
Isabella looked directly at Joseph, "You're here to apply for the tutoring position? I have some test papers here. Answer them first."
Joseph had been ready to just take her on as a student, but suddenly hearing this, he froze completely.
"What... what?"
A test?
Olivia's facial muscles twitched as she turned to look at Isabella in disbelief, "What are you doing?"
This was Joseph!
Everyone had only heard of Joseph testing students, never of any student daring to test Joseph.
"What do you mean what am I doing?" Isabella glanced at Olivia, a trace of impatience flashing through her bright eyes. "If I don't test him, how will I know if he's qualified to be my tutor?"
It's not like she would agree to just anyone who came to tutor her.
Since Olivia insisted she get tutoring, she naturally had to pick someone who could actually help her.
Although the town had limited educational resources, her knowledge had never been lacking, because most of what people started learning in high school, her master on the mountain had started teaching her before she was even seven.
From what she remembered, her master was very capable - knowledgeable about everything from astronomy to geography.
And she had a good memory and learned things easily - she was definitely not a poor student.
As for why her previous exam score was 300 points, she guessed it was probably because she hadn't attended classes or taken exams, and the school teachers had just filled in a random score.
The middle school she attended was one her master had arranged for her to be registered at, just so she could take the SAT. Strictly speaking, she had never actually received an education at that school.
Olivia looked at her acting so righteous and confident, her face darkening, "What nonsense are you pulling? This is Mr. Miller!"
"So what if he's Mr. Miller?" Isabella smirked dismissively, "He still has to pass my test."
Isabella even gave Joseph an appraising look.
From his appearance he seemed okay, probably not like Matthew - at least his character should be acceptable.
"You..." Olivia was about to explode with anger.
How could she have given birth to such an idiot!
Joseph looked at the test papers Isabella handed over, his expression darkening slightly.
Bianca keenly noticed the change in Joseph's expression, a gleeful smile flashing in her eyes.
Being so rude and presumptuous in front of Joseph.
This tutoring arrangement was definitely going to be ruined by this idiot Isabella.
"Wait a moment, I need to make a phone call first."
After saying this, Joseph quickly walked away.
"Isabella, are you stupid?" Gabriel couldn't hold back anymore. "Does Mr. Miller need you to test him?"
He had never seen anyone so dumb.
So many people begged just to meet Joseph and couldn't, and now that Joseph had finally come in person, Isabella had actually made him angry enough to leave.
"Bianca, what's wrong with this Isabella in your family? Is there something wrong with her brain?"
"What kind of person is she, daring to act so high and mighty toward Mr. Miller?"
"Who does she think she is?"
"If you ask me, after Mr. Miller makes that phone call, he definitely won't take her on. How could Mr. Miller put up with this?"
"..."
"William!" Mr. Miller lowered his voice, speaking into the phone with a somewhat gritted-teeth tone, "You didn't tell me I'd have to take a test when I came here!"
In the Brown Group's office.
William listened to Joseph's agitated voice on the phone, but his expression remained calm, "What test?"
"It's that girl of yours. She brought over some test papers and told me very seriously that I have to pass the test before I can be her teacher!"
This really threw him for a loop.
William couldn't help but let out a low chuckle from his throat.
"Wait, you..." Joseph was very annoyed. "What are you laughing at?"
William loosened his tie, his eyes full of tenderness, "Cute."
