Chapter 87
“Can I discuss it with the producer and tell you? I can try to see whether any of them want to join your company,” Matilda said after thinking for a while, and was confused and what decision to make.
They could take the termination fee and prepare for the future films, but she felt that if she followed Scarlet, there might be bigger surprises in the future.
“Sure. Can you respond in ten minutes, please?” Scarlet said.
“Okay,” Matilda said before hanging up, as she was in a hurry to ask the others what they thought.
When the call was disconnected, Scarlet smirked. She had wanted the whole team, but was afraid that they might reject her if she asked them directly. That was why she suggested two things and called Matilda. Even before she spoke about the others. Matilda proposed to do it for her; how could she not be happy?
She then wrote all the movies and films that would be a hit in the future, their producers and directors. After that, she opened her laptop, wanting to track those people to see what kind of people they were.
She didn’t want actors in her company; she wanted directors, producers, and screenwriters, so that they could also make their own films and movies. Someone could say that she was ambitious, but she felt that there was no need for her ot be ambitious when she had a cheat. Why not use them well?
She first investigated the actors and wrote their addresses and family situation on the paper. She will give it to the person who will be managing the company, as she was given those skilled servants. She wanted to make good use of them.
After that, she started investigating the directors of those future films and movies, and when they will be shot. She was sure that no movie was on her list that had started being filmed, as she couldn’t recall much of what happened when she had just returned to the Jenkins. She had been busy pleasing her stepmother, siblings, and father.
After ten minutes, Matilda called back, and Scarlet took the call.
“Miss Jenkins, I have discussed with them. They are asking what the salary will be,” Matilda asked, though she felt embarrassed that she had forgotten to ask about that when they had spoken previously. How could she convince them when she didn’t know the benefits that working in Scarlet’s company compared to being solo?
“There will be a commission according to the film’s performance and the profit made for the producer, director, and screenwriter. Apart from the commission, there will be a monthly salary and bonuses at the end of the year, according to how hard one worked, their movie became a hit, and the trophies won,” Scarlet said as she stared at the laptop blankly, as she was in deep thought. “The director will be receiving seven hundred and twenty thousand per year, the producer, six hundred and sixty thousand, yearly, and the screenwriter, five hundred thousand. Is that a good deal?” Scarlet said, then frowned when she heard her own voice.
She immediately understood that the woman had kept her on speaker. She wondered why what was, who else was listening to their conversation.
“Do you want to go and tell them?” she asked another something else instead of that, wanting to sound suspicious.
“Naah. They have heard it,” Matilda replied before placing that phone on the table and picking up the other one.
“Guys, what do you think?” Matilda asked.
“I am in,” the screenwriter said as to her, getting five hundred as a salary, and there were bonuses, wasn’t that a great deal? She didn’t need to stress about which director or producer she should work with or not, the investors. She felt that it would be good if she worked with Scarlet, who had her own money, and even the family behind her was very powerful.
Who would dare provoke them when they found out who the company’s owner was? The more she thought of everything, the more she got excited.
The producer remained silent as he was thinking. Yes, he knew of Scarlet’s true identity, but to him, that was good enough. After all, if they shot a movie and became a hit without being under a company, they could earn a lot of money than being under the company.
As if knowing what the latter was thinking about. Matilda said, “Don’t forget that in every movie or film you work in, you will get a commission on the profit.”
The producer's eyes lit up as he had forgotten about that. “What percentage are we talking about here?” he asked as he wasn’t ready to be fooled.
“Ten percent,” Scarlet said as she would never offer than a higher amount. If she gave them twenty percent each, then won’t she remain with forty percent? Couldn’t she get that percent by just investing in their film? She felt that if they refused, there wasn’t any problem. She had the money and could pay the termination fees. After all, for the three of them, her, her cousin, Nova, and Santino, it wasn’t more than ten million.
“Matilda, are you in or what? I need an answer so that I can communicate with my lawyer and everything to be ready by tomorrow morning. You know that I am not even supposed to be doing business at the moment,” Scarlet said, making Matilda feel guilty.
“I will join the company,” Matilda said, thinking that she might do what her inner being was telling her to do.
“I won’t be working with your company. However, when I work on something, I will be informing your company first. Hope you can still invest in my future movies and films when I call you,” the producer said, making Scarlet sneer inwardly.
The man was so greedy. He didn’t want to help Scarlet but wanted to benefit from her. Did he think that she was a fool cause she was young?
“Okay,” she responded, but what she had decided was another thing. She was just too lazy to argue with him. She wasn’t ready to work with people who used others. It was only that she was very interested in this film and had already signed contracts. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have tolerated him.
Hearing Scarlet’s reassurance, the producer sighed in relief, but Matilda, who had spent almost a day with Scarlet, felt there was something fishy with the way Scarlet responded. However, she didn’t say or ask anything, feeling that since the man had made the decision, there was no need for her to try to convince him.
“The lawyer will communicate with you tomorrow,” Scarlet told Matilda, then hung up.
She called the lawyer and explained everything that they had discussed to him.
“If possible, register that company by tomorrow so that they can sign the document before continuing with the auditions and filming afterwards,” Scarlet said, though that wasn’t the reason she was hurrying the man. One was that she knew her actions would be monitored afterwards, and wanted to settle everything before going back. The other reason, she smirked as she thought of how Matilda had fallen in her trap.
She was in a good mood as she hung up the call. She placed the pen and phone down and walked to the bathroom to clean up. She was tired and needed some relaxation, as her grandma had said. If they knew that after she settled in the room, she had started working, they would be furious.
She wanted to get a shower, take a rest before dinner time arrived, so that after supper, she could start designing the resort and the malls that would be built. She knew that even if they might be started two months or three months later, her skills and designs were thinking from the future, so there was no way that they would get old-fashioned if she drew them right now and gave the team. That way, she might pray for her mother while taking a break as her company and work developed.
Also, she had to start thinking about how to start her mother’s charity organization in Country A. She was so sure that after Austin got his revenge, he won’t stay long in Italy, he would go to another country to develop. Santino had followed his brother as he had wanted to escape from the family and the pain of losing their mother. Now that everything had been settled, he was also likely to go back to America.
Their mother’s wish was to open businesses around the world, and the siblings understood it well. After those six months, they would start doing things aggressively yet orderly manner as they would have done six months of preparation.
