Chapter 247

“Hey Alaine,” the person on the other side replied. This was fifth call and she was starting to get frustrated. Did she not know people out here? She couldn’t help but wonder.

She remembered when she was young, she had all kinds of connection everywhere. However, now that she thought of it, maybe she had been using her father’s connection all these years. She frowned, this wasn’t a good sign. Now, she understood why Rhoda had complained.

“Hey Sharon. How have you been?” she asked.

The person on the other side halted her actions, “I’m good friend. It’s rare for you to call. Since we graduated, we never heard anything from you other than hearing from people. I am quite surprised that you have never changed your contact.”

Alaine remained silent at that. Yes, she also rarely posted anything on wechat. She wouldn’t be surprised if everyone thought that she was death.

“I am sorry. I have just been so busy,” Alaine apologized.

“It’s fine. What’s going on?” Sharon asked as she wasn’t naïve to think that Alaine had missed their friendship thus called. However, she really couldn’t blame the latter as they all knew what had happened during their final year. No one would ever want what happened to Alaine to happen to herself.

“I am looking for well known and reputable teachers to teach my daughter everything she wants to learn,” Alaine said stunning Sharon.

“A teacher? I thought that your daughter grew up learning all kinds of things? Is there anything she didn’t learn?” Sharon asked with a frown.

Though they rarely spoke, it didn’t mean that Rhoda wouldn’t share how Alaine’s life is going on upon being asked. Everyone in their circle and class knew that Alaine got married to a nobody immediately after graduating. It was said that they were looking for a live son-in-law, after that, they got a daughter who was so pampered by all. Well, apart from Rhoda who always claimed that there was something weird about that kid. But since none of them had ever met her, they never commented on that.

Alaine sighed when she thought of everything Eve had received. Though her father had been displeased and disappointed at her of getting pregnant while she was school, he really loved his dear granddaughter and always gave her everything she wanted. But at the same time, he never overly spoilt her, he always claimed that he had a weird feeling that something was fishy.

However, Alaine had been used to hear Rhoda claiming that all the time thus she always thought her father was just getting.

“She wasn’t my daughter,” Alaine replied to Sharon startling the other party.

“What?” Sharon asked in shrieking sound.

“The babies had been swapped by birth. Just found my biological daughter. She wants to learn music, dancing, perfumery and all. As a mother, I opt to give her everything she wants and also compensate her for the harsh life she had previously.”

Sharon was so shocked that she couldn’t even find the right words to speak. All that kept ringing in her ears were that Alaine had been raising and pampering another person’s kid. This time, she truly believed what Rhoda had been saying all the time. However, it was still not up to her to speak of that, after all, they weren’t as close as they were in the past.

“I am so sorry babes. Since she just got back, as her auntie, I should send some gifts to her,” Sharon said. She really pitied the poor girl. What made her sigh in relief was that Alaine didn’t seem to be siding with the imposter she had raised for eighteen years.

“You should come give it to her personally. We will be holding a banquet for her on Saturday next week. I have invited you personally, don’t fail to come,” Alaine said stunning Sharon.

“You are willing to meet with us?” Sharon asked as she choked. God knows how long they had waited for this chance.

“Yeah, but not him. None of you should tell him anything,” Alaine said and Sharon understood whom she meant.

“Don’t worry girl. He won’t hear a thing. I will tell the others. Now, back to your requests,” Sharon said as she turned serious. Alaine also sat upright but she was trembling.
