Chapter 204 Throwing a Tantrum

Chapter 204 Throwing a Tantrum

"Ms. Lockwood, this Ivan is really something!"

The moment I arrived at the office the next day, York came running over excitedly with a contract in hand.

He waved the contract enthusiastically and said, "Look at this—ten million dollars! Another ten million dollar deal, and Ivan signed it."

"He signed it? Is there any problem?"

I took the document and quickly skimmed through it. The amount was ten million dollars, and the buyer was Zenith Enterprises Group. I'd heard of this company before and had been planning to visit them, but hadn't gotten around to it yet. But how did Ivan manage to connect with them?

Seeing my confused state, York smiled and said, "The contract is fine. The legal department drafted it, and they checked it again after signing before stamping it. As for the payment, they said half will be transferred this afternoon, and the other half when the goods are delivered."

The contract was fine, the payment was fine—what was Ivan really up to? Was he actually here to do business for the company?

Noticing my silence, York joked, "Now you can relax, right?"

Relaxing was impossible—I was only more worried.

But no matter how hard I racked my brain, I couldn't figure out what Ivan was planning. Since I couldn't figure it out, I stopped trying. I handed back the contract and said, "Same as usual. Please keep an eye on the shipment, and let me know right away if there are any problems."

"Got it." York replied as he left with the contract.
That evening when we all arrived at Rosalind's house, she was holding Ivan's hand and praising him.

"I knew Ivan was smart and capable. Look at this—he's only been at the company a short time and already signed so many contracts. At this rate, Henry's whole family will depend on you for their livelihood."

Rosalind's flattery was really uncomfortable to hear, but she wasn't wrong about one thing—Ivan's contracts had indeed helped the company through a difficult time.

"Yes, Ivan is quite capable. He carries a trace of John's spirit from his younger days."
Henry's words made Rosalind beam with joy.

"Henry's right. John was capable too back then. It's just a shame that business is unpredictable, and the company's current situation isn't entirely his fault."

Rosalind looked at John and said, "But at least you raised a good son for the Lockwood family. That's a great achievement."

"Grandma, if you keep praising me like this, I'm going to blush."

Ivan walked over to her and glanced at me, saying, "Look at Helena, she's very capable too. She's running things at the company now."

Rosalind snorted upon hearing Ivan's words and coldly muttered, "No matter how capable, she's still just a woman. If she gets married later, won't everything from the Lockwood family end up with outsiders?"

I wasn't bothered by Rosalind's words because that was what she thought about me.
But Ivan looked at me with some embarrassment and quickly explained, "Helena, Grandma's just joking. Don't take her words to heart."

"I'm not joking at all. I'm telling you, the Lockwood family business will belong to Ivan in the future. None of you should try to take it!"

Rosalind looked at Henry and said, "Especially you, Henry. Remember this—when a woman gets married, she belongs to someone else's family, and her children won't even have the Lockwood name. You need to understand that."

"Mom, you don't need to worry about this. Helena is my only child. If I don't give my business to her, who would I give it to?"

Seeing Henry actually dare to contradict her, Rosalind immediately flew into a rage. "Henry, what do you mean by that? Have you not heard anything I've said?"

"Ivan is John's child and my nephew. Of course I care about him, and if he's in trouble, I won't stand by and do nothing. But Helena is my daughter, and naturally my business will go to her."

This was the first time Henry had been so firm in contradicting Rosalind.

Seeing that Henry wouldn't listen to her, Rosalind began throwing tantrums.
"You're going to make me die of anger!"

"Grandma, don't be like this. Uncle Henry didn't mean to upset you."

Ivan quickly tried to help Rosalind up, but she pushed him away. She pointed at Henry's nose and said, "Henry, I'm asking you—do you agree to give the company to Ivan or not?"

Henry frowned and looked at Rosalind. "Mom, I can agree to anything else, but not this. If the company all goes to Ivan, what about Helena? She's my biological daughter."

Hearing this, Rosalind got upset. She pointed at me and shouted at Henry, "What does a woman need a company for? Won't she get married eventually? Just give her some money and be done with it. What more do you want? Are you really going to give her the company?"

"Yes." Henry said calmly, "Helena is my daughter. The company goes to her."
"I don't agree!"

Rosalind became instantly agitated. "If you dare give the Lockwood family business to Helena, I will disown you!"
"Mom, whether you disown me or not, I'm still saying the same thing—all the business I've built will be Helena's in the future. No one can take it away."

When Henry's calm voice rang out in the room, I saw several people's expressions change.

I have to say, Henry standing up for me like this was really impressive!

"You insist on going against me, Henry. Aren't you afraid I'll disown you as my son?"

Rosalind's finger almost poked Henry's face in disbelief.

Before Henry could respond, John stepped forward to ease the tension. "Mom, please don't get angry. Henry's just joking with you. Don't take it to heart, or you'll get sick again."

The moment John spoke, Rosalind clutched her chest and fell back onto the sofa. "My heart is beating so hard it hurts. Am I going to die? If I die, I'll go find your father and tell him I was driven to death by that bastard Henry."

"I can't go on living!"

Rosalind wailed continuously. Her little act managed to frighten everyone in the room.

Ivan rushed forward anxiously, saying, "Grandma, are you okay? Should I take you to the hospital?"

"Yes, Mom, let's go to the hospital. We can't let anything happen to you," John also urged.

"I'm not going!"

Rosalind's voice was loud and thunderous, without a trace of illness.

This was just her trick to force Henry to back down. At that moment, everyone's eyes seemed to fall on Henry, and even I wanted to know how he would handle this.
