Chapter 185 Filing a Complaint
"Whether I leave or not isn't for you to decide."
Seeing her put on the airs of an elder and acting so aggressive, I'd already lost my patience.
After saying that, I glanced at her and said, "If you came here today just to criticize me, then you've achieved your goal. I've heard what you had to say. Please leave."
Seeing I was about to get up, Amy panicked. She quickly grabbed my hand and said, "Helena, don't be angry. My mom didn't mean any harm. She was really worried when she heard about this."
"Mom convinced Grandpa and Dad to come find you early, just so you could clear things up. If someone's spreading rumors, we'll help you."
"Help how? By being aggressive like your mother?"
I pointed at Yvonne and let out a cold laugh. "I'll say it again - this is a private matter between Atlas and me. You don't need to interfere so much."
"I know, I know everything, Helena. My mom's just in a bad mood because of Zane's situation. She didn't mean it. Please don't be angry."
Amy said this while shaking my arm, her face full of pleading.
Seeing her expression, something stirred in my heart, and I gave up the idea of leaving. I wanted to see what Yvonne and Amy's real purpose was for coming today.
With this in mind, I sat back down firmly and looked at them. "If you're here about Zane, I'm sorry, but I can't help. But you can ask Atlas - he's the one who did it, so he can definitely solve it."
"But Atlas is very angry."
Amy glanced at me and said quietly, "Atlas said he wants Zane to learn a good lesson, so he won't dare have bad intentions toward you again."
At this point, Amy said with a sob in her voice, "But Helena, Zane has never suffered like this. These past few days, Dad and Mom have been so worried their hair has turned white."
Finally, Amy cried, "Please help us talk to him. Grandpa got so upset over this that he fell ill. If Zane isn't released soon, I really don't know what will happen."
Wesley falling ill over this was something I hadn't expected.
I asked, "What does Atlas say?"
"What does he say? Atlas is completely focused on getting revenge for you right now. He doesn't respect us elders at all!"
Yvonne said while patting her chest angrily, "You're not even married into the Lancaster family yet, and you're already causing trouble in our family. Helena, you're such a jinx!"
"That's not fair to say."
I looked at Yvonne coldly. "If Zane hadn't had bad intentions and provoked me first, how could what happened later have occurred?"
Then I looked at her. "Besides, you came here today to ask for my help, right? If you're asking someone for help, you should have the right attitude, not act all high and mighty!"
"Helena, are you really not going to show me any respect at all?"
Yvonne said furiously, "Aren't you afraid I'll go to your family and expose your terrible true colors?"
"You want to disturb my parents?"
Hearing this, my expression instantly darkened.
"If that's the case, then let Zane stay in jail!"
With that, I stood up and left without looking back, ignoring Amy's pleas behind me.
My family is my bottom line. Anyone who crosses it - there's only one outcome: death!
Yvonne was incredibly stupid, using her position as Mrs. Lancaster to show off in front of me, and foolishly bringing up my family.
Did she really think she could threaten me with my family?
Thinking about this made me even angrier. I immediately took out my phone and called Atlas.
They had come to provoke me first - if I didn't complain now, when would I?
As soon as the call connected, I said tearfully, "Atlas."
I had never cried in front of Atlas before. Forget crying - I'd never even shown him a hint of being wronged.
Sure enough, hearing my crying, Atlas immediately panicked. "Helena, what's wrong? Who bullied you? What happened? Tell me quickly."
"I was bullied by Yvonne."
Between sobs, I told Atlas everything Yvonne had said, not forgetting to mention that she wanted to threaten me with my family.
"Atlas, you know my family is my bottom line, but Yvonne directly threatened me with them."
"If you don't stand up for me, I'll have to take matters into my own hands."
"No need, Helena, listen to me."
Atlas on the other end sounded nervous. He quickly said, "Don't worry, I promise you that from today on, no one from the Lancaster family will bother you again."
"Really?"
I stopped crying and said, "But if that's the case, won't they all blame you for this?"
Atlas quickly reassured me, "It's fine. Even without Zane's incident, they would still be hostile toward me. But you're different."
He laughed softly. "You shouldn't be dragged into the Lancaster family's conflicts. So Helena, this started because of me, and I have the responsibility to settle it."
"Besides, I said I would protect you. Now it's time for me to keep that promise."
Hearing this, my heart instantly warmed.
"I don't mind being wronged, but no one can hurt my family. Yvonne really crossed the line."
I sniffled and said, "But be careful. I don't want you to get hurt because of me."
"I will, don't worry." Atlas said and hung up.
But after Yvonne's scene, I still felt uneasy.
After hanging up, I drove straight home. When I got there and saw Maria's figure on the sofa, my heart finally settled.
"Mom."
I called out and threw myself into her arms, hugging her waist tightly.
My action startled Maria. She stroked my back and said, "Shouldn't you be at the company at this time? Why did you come home?"
"I just missed you."
I said, rubbing against her. Maria said helplessly, "Okay, if you miss me, come home."
Then she sighed, "Time really flies. In the blink of an eye, you've grown up, and I've gotten old!"
"How could that be? When we go out together, people say you're my sister. How could you be old?"
I hugged her even tighter. "I won't let Mom get old, I won't."
Maria was shaken by me and said helplessly, "Okay, I won't get old. Really, you're so grown up and still acting like a baby."
"I'll always be a child when I'm with Mom."
I replied with a grin.
"That's right, you'll always be my child."
Maria said, hugging me even tighter.
