Chapter 183 I Will Supervise You
Seeing me grinning and just watching the drama unfold, Ivan finally shifted from his initial embarrassment to righteous indignation.
"If it was just one media outlet saying this, maybe you were wronged, but so many media are reporting it - they can't all be wronging you, right?"
Seeing Ivan ask with such righteous anger, Atlas was quite helpless.
He leaned forward to pour coffee for both Ivan and me, then smiled and said, "Do you think it's true?"
"Of course!"
Ivan answered loudly.
"If you're a playboy, please leave Helena as soon as possible. Helena deserves a better man!"
Seeing him speak so seriously, the smile on Atlas's face gradually disappeared.
After hearing him out, Atlas crossed his hands and leaned back in his chair, asking with a smile, "Do you always get to know people through entertainment news?"
"Of course not." Ivan answered loudly.
"Then why did you conclude what kind of person I am after just reading a few reports about me?"
At Atlas's words, Ivan was instantly speechless. After a long pause, he said awkwardly, "But what those people said was so detailed and realistic, and I've never seen you clarify anything."
"I don't clarify because what they say is all baseless speculation. These rumors aren't worth mentioning to me. My time and energy should be spent on what matters most, not wasted on clarifying boring entertainment gossip."
Atlas glanced at him again and said, "You just came back to the country, and today is our first meeting, but we'll meet countless times in the future. If you want to protect Helena, feel free to monitor me. I welcome it anytime."
"Of course, if you really catch me being close with other women, you can stand up for Helena then."
Hearing this, Ivan finally calmed down. He said a bit embarrassed, "Then it's settled, Atlas. Don't let me catch you doing anything wrong."
Atlas spread his hands and smiled at him, "Go ahead and monitor me. I welcome it!"
After saying this, he looked at me affectionately and said, "I didn't expect another person to monitor me. I'll have to treat you even better from now on."
I smiled and said, "You better keep your word, or I'll hold you accountable."
"Alright, alright, don't worry. I'll behave well and try to marry you as soon as possible!"
Atlas laughed and held my hand. Neither of us saw the flash of ruthlessness in Ivan's eyes.
"I can't watch this anymore."
Ivan's teasing voice came to my ears. I let go of Atlas's hand and turned to look, seeing him covering his face with his eyes peeking through his fingers.
Seeing me look over, he put down his hand and said, "I'm overwhelmed by your affection. I can't eat at all now."
Only then did I remember we hadn't ordered yet. I quickly raised my hand, and a waiter came over.
"Three steaks and a bottle of red wine."
After I ordered, I looked at Ivan and said, "What about you? What else do you want?"
"That's enough, I won't eat more. This is plenty."
Ivan just kept shaking his head, refusing to order anything else.
I had no choice but to have the waiter bring a few salads and cream soup before we started eating.
After dinner, Ivan offered, "Helena, let Atlas take you home. I'll drive your car to the company."
"Alright then, drive carefully. We're leaving."
I waved at him and left arm-in-arm with Atlas.
After getting in the car, I dropped my smile and looked at Atlas, "So, did you notice anything wrong with Ivan?"
Atlas shook his head, "Everything seemed natural, nothing seemed off. What do you think is wrong?"
I shook my head, "It's because it's too perfect that I'm even more suspicious."
"And about that company I asked you to check last time - the one Ivan signed the deal with. An order worth ten million dollars! This is his first deal, even senior employees can't compare."
Atlas frowned and asked, "So you suspect there's something wrong with that company?"
I nodded, "Yes, did you find anything?"
"No."
Atlas shook his head directly, "I had people check that company. Their business is doing well, nothing improper. Maybe this deal really is fine."
Hearing this, I leaned back heavily in the car seat and said coldly, "Since they're willing to give so much, I'll gladly accept it."
Atlas said, "Let this deal go, but be careful checking any deals he handles in the future, just to be safe."
I nodded, "You're right, I'll be careful."
After that, Atlas drove me home. When I got out, he suddenly said, "Helena, don't worry, I won't let anyone catch me doing anything wrong."
"You said it! If anyone catches evidence of you betraying me, you're dead!"
I made a shooting gesture with my finger against his forehead.
Atlas smiled and grabbed my hand, pulling me into his arms and kissing me, "I will, don't worry. If that day ever comes, I won't forgive myself either."
"I trust you."
I gave him a passionate kiss back, then reluctantly let go, "Alright, I should go now."
"Okay."
Atlas said this but showed no sign of letting go.
He buried his head in my shoulder and took a deep breath, "Helena, I really want to marry you soon!"
The atmosphere in the car was intimate and intense, stirring up my emotions too.
I patted Atlas's back and said, "Be patient, let me finish this busy period first."
"Really?"
Atlas looked up excitedly, his eyes bright as he looked at me, "Are you accepting my proposal?"
"Are you proposing to me?"
I deliberately spread my hands in confusion, "I've never seen anyone propose in a car, and without flowers or a ring - nothing at all."
"Sorry, sorry, it's my fault. Don't worry, I'll prepare everything. I'll make sure you feel my sincerity."
Atlas apologized frantically. I laughed and pushed him, "Alright, I'm just joking with you. I don't have plans to get married right now. Can you wait a bit longer for me?"
"I can, but how long do you want me to wait?"
Atlas's eyes were bright, waiting for my answer.
At least until I deal with Knox and John's family, but I couldn't say this to Atlas.
I could only say vaguely, "Until I finish my current work. But it won't be too long."
"Alright then, but if you need my help, don't be shy about asking."
Atlas placed my hand on his chest, "I'll always be behind you."
"Thank you, Atlas!"
I looked at him seriously, "Having you by my side gives me peace of mind. Thank you for being with me."
Hearing this, a light flashed in Atlas's eyes. He pulled me into his arms, "I'll always be here."
Listening to his drumming heartbeat, I instantly felt very secure. In this life, I'm no longer fighting alone - I have the best partner and supporter.
Let John's family use whatever schemes they have!
