Chapter 112: Helena is My Girlfriend
Derek huffed angrily, "How dare you say that! You clearly promised to take me to dinner yesterday, but you just sent some department manager instead. Real nice, just great!"
"I did treat you, that's right, but I never said who would be there with you. I reimbursed Lyndon directly for yesterday's expenses."
I glanced at Derek and shook my head. "It's not that I'm being cheap, Derek, but what on earth did you drink to rack up over a hundred thousand dollars? Drinking like it's water - can your fragile body even handle that?"
"Who says I can't handle it? I'm telling you, last night was just an appetizer. I can still drink plenty more."
After Derek finished speaking, he suddenly realized something. "Wait, no - we're talking about you not showing up. How did this turn into a discussion about drinking? Helena, I think you just look down on me!"
"Derek, if that's what you think, there's nothing I can do about it."
I spread my hands. "I've already shown complete sincerity. It's getting unreasonable for you to keep going on about this."
"Fine, fine, fine. You win!"
Derek snorted coldly in frustration. "Never had a woman play me like this before."
Seeing him still wouldn't let it go, I shook my head. "Alright, Derek, I need to start working now. If you have nothing else, please head back. If you're still hung up on the dinner thing, how about I have Lyndon invite you out again?"
"Stop!"
Derek huffed, "Me, the heir of the Turner family, keeping company with that balding guy from your company - once was enough. Don't expect me to do it again!"
Poor Lyndon was probably outside the door right now, touching what little hair he had left on his head.
I coughed and went along with Derek. "Derek, you're right. In that case, let's just drop this matter. Okay?"
"No!"
Derek pointed straight at me. "I want you to come with me. You have dinner with me, and we'll call it even."
Seeing him being so persistent, I crossed my arms and stared at him coldly. "I'm sure you have plenty of people to keep you company. If you're going to be this stubborn about it, it's just not worth it."
"Whether you think it's worth it doesn't matter - as long as I think it is!"
Derek took a few steps closer. "Helena, what do you say?"
Just as he finished speaking, a man rushed in, grabbed him by the back of his collar, lifted him up, and tossed him out the door.
"What kind of trash dares to act so arrogant here!"
Recognizing who it was, I said with pleasant surprise, "Atlas, what are you doing here?"
Just then, Lyndon poked his head in from outside the door and gestured toward his own forehead.
I understood immediately - he had called Atlas over.
After being pushed out the door, Derek finally came to his senses and started yelling. "Who is it? Who dares to hurt me!"
When he looked up and saw Atlas, he flew into a rage. "So it's you! Atlas, how dare you hit me!"
"Yes, it's me, and I hit you. So what? You're just a playboy. I hit you, and that's that. What are you going to do about it?"
Seeing Atlas didn't take him seriously at all, Derek was so angry he was practically jumping.
"Atlas, you're some motherless bastard whose father doesn't give a damn, and you dare boss me around? What gives you the right!"
When Derek brought up his mother, Atlas's eyes darkened.
He looked up and stared coldly at Derek. "Today, I'm letting you off for Oliver's sake. But if I see you harassing Helena again next time, I'll beat you so badly you'll be eating dirt!"
"Atlas, what does me looking for Helena have to do with you? What's your relationship with her anyway?"
Derek shot back defiantly.
As soon as he finished speaking, Atlas reached out with his large hand, pulled me to his side, and said, "Helena is my girlfriend. Open your eyes wide and look - if you harass my girlfriend again, you'll regret it!"
"Long live Mr. Lancaster!"
York, who had just arrived, waved his arm and cheered, loves stirring up trouble.
Seeing quite a few employees glancing our way, my face instantly turned red.
I quietly tried to break free, but as soon as I moved, Atlas's arm tightened around me even more.
"Derek, if you leave quietly now, I won't hold it against you for bothering my girlfriend. Otherwise, I'll call Oliver right now!"
Derek looked at me with some disbelief. "Helena, you sure move on fast!"
"Knox is still at the police station, isn't he? How did you turn around and start dating Atlas so quickly?"
Seeing him speak so rudely, I said with a cold expression, "That seems to be my personal business. I don't need to explain it to you."
"Fine, fine, you really don't need to explain it to me. But when Knox gets released, I'd like to see how you explain it to him."
Derek snorted coldly and said to Atlas, "Atlas, you better watch yourself. Be careful not to make your already shaky reputation even worse."
Atlas replied calmly, "That's none of your concern!"
"Fine, I'm minding my own business then."
Derek glared at Atlas defiantly, then turned and left in a huff.
After all, Derek was the heir of the Turner family - I didn't want to make things too ugly.
"Lyndon, see Derek out."
"Yes."
Hearing my words, Lyndon finally snapped out of his shock and hurried toward the elevator.
"Alright, he's gone. You can let go now."
I gave Atlas a reproachful look. Only then did Atlas reluctantly release his arm from around me. "How did I not think to make Derek stay a bit longer?"
His words made me laugh despite my annoyance. "What are you thinking about!"
"Thinking about you, of course."
"Smooth talker!"
I naturally couldn't win a war of words with him.
I turned and went into the office, with Atlas following behind me.
After we went in, we discovered Serenity had followed us in, too.
He frowned. "What are you doing?"
Serenity quickly explained, then looked up at Atlas with a hint of admiration in her eyes. "Mr. Lancaster, the way you stood up for Helena just now was so cool."
Being praised, Atlas couldn't hide the smile in his eyes. "As her boyfriend, it's what I should do."
I rolled my eyes at him helplessly. "Whose boyfriend? When did I agree to that?"
"Yes, it's my fault. I should have given you a grand confession ceremony. Helena, don't worry - whatever other women have, you must have too."
Seeing that no matter what I said, Atlas would naturally steer the conversation toward pursuing me, I could only change the subject and said to Serenity, "Alright, if you have questions, ask them quickly. When you're done, go back. I'm very busy here too."
Seeing me turn my attention to her, Serenity put on that delicate, timid look again. "Helena, why don't you work first? I'll come back another time to ask."
