Chapter 205: Hospital Accusation
Linda lay on the emergency bed, wrapped in bandages all over, blood seeping from her forehead.
She had multiple soft tissue contusions, and her ribs were slightly fractured. She was so weak she barely had any strength left.
Police officers stood guard outside the hospital room, not leaving for a moment.
After completing the emergency treatment, the doctor removed his mask and shook his head at the officer in charge of the case.
"The patient has many external injuries, plus internal bruising. We managed to save her, but she's severely weakened. She won't be able to move normally for a while, and she can't handle any emotional stress."
The officer nodded, signaling the medical staff to leave space for a private interrogation, then walked to the bedside and looked down at Linda, who was slowly opening her eyes.
"You're conscious now. If you can speak, tell us the truth—who attacked you in the police station holding cell?"
Linda's eyelids trembled. Her throat was dry and painful, and every breath pulled at her wounds, causing piercing pain. After a long moment, her clouded gaze fixed on the ceiling, her eyes churning with hatred and fear.
"It was someone from the Rockefeller family."
Her voice was hoarse and weak, but every word was clear, without any ambiguity.
The officer's expression sharpened. "Are you sure? Did you see the person's face clearly?"
"I don't need to see their face." Linda pulled at the corner of her mouth in a bitter smile, wincing as it tugged at her wounds and made her gasp.
Besides the Rockefeller family, who else would dare to silence someone inside the city police station?
"He was afraid I'd confess everything, so he deliberately sent someone in to kill me at the station, leaving no witnesses."
"I infiltrated the Shaw family for him, gathered confidential information from Shaw Corporation and Stellar Industries Group, helped him spread rumors to smear Olivia, bribed thugs to kidnap Lena, seriously injured Nina—I did all the dirty work for him. Now that everything's exposed, his first move is to cut his losses and silence me—hahaha, anyway, I don't have much time left, so no one's getting off easy!"
Linda became more agitated as she spoke, her chest heaving violently.
She accidentally pulled at her wounds, her face turning pale with pain, but she still wouldn't stop.
"No one's getting off easy! That's right, I'm Linda. Does Olivia want to use this to threaten me? Well now, I'm admitting it myself! Everything—I did it all!"
The officer took out his notebook, recording her statement word for word.
"Everything you say carries legal responsibility. You can't make false accusations."
"I'm not making false accusations." Linda's eyes suddenly became sharp. "I have hidden records of my private communications with Ashton, chat backups of him ordering me around, and transaction records. Go ahead and investigate! He thinks beating me up and crippling me will let him cover everything up! Hahaha, impossible!"
"What I know goes beyond just this! He relies on being from a wealthy family with deep roots, so he recklessly manipulates conspiracies, suppresses opponents, hires people to commit violence, interferes in malicious business competition..."
Outside the hospital room, Olivia stood quietly in the corner, hearing every word Linda said clearly.
Vincent stood beside her, his expression extremely grim.
"So it really was Ashton acting desperately."
Olivia's expression remained calm, without any ripple, only cold indifference in her eyes.
"The more desperate he is to silence her, the more it proves Linda's testimony is true, and the more it shows his guilty conscience."
Of course, it didn't rule out the possibility that Ashton was just arrogant.
But now, with Linda's direct accusation, plus the injuries on her body as physical evidence, combined with the recordings and clues they already had, it was enough to push Ashton into the eye of the storm.
Vincent looked at her. "What do you plan to do next? The police have opened a case, but the Rockefeller family has too much power. They'll probably use their connections to suppress the news and block public opinion."
"I'm afraid it won't be that simple." Olivia smiled coldly.
Vincent immediately responded, "I'll have people organize the evidence right away. Once everything's verified, we can release it anytime."
Olivia nodded slightly, her gaze falling on Linda in the hospital room, weak but with eyes full of hatred.
Linda had never been innocent.
She had done many evil things, but never expected that at the last moment, she would become a sharp knife in Olivia's hand.
Linda lay on the bed, and after saying her last words, as if she had exhausted all her strength, she slowly closed her eyes, the curve of her mouth frozen in unwillingness and grievance.
She knew her life was completely ruined.
Fleeing, disguising, scheming—in the end, she became a discarded pawn, seriously injured and imprisoned, with nothing left.
But even if she was ruined, she would drag everyone down to hell with her!
The officer finished the transcript and confirmed the statement was accurate multiple times before having it signed and sealed.
The hospital arranged for 24-hour surveillance to prevent the Rockefeller family from sending people to strike again.
Within just two hours, Linda's interrogation statement, hospital room accusation recording, injury assessment report, and other evidence were all categorized and simultaneously released across major social platforms, news media, and business forums.
When the news first came out, it only circulated in small circles at first, but soon began to spread like wildfire.
But after less than half an hour, major platforms suddenly began throttling and deleting posts. Hot search terms were instantly blocked, related content was taken down on a large scale, and many media outlets received pressure behind the scenes and didn't dare to repost or report.
Without thinking, it was obvious that the Rockefeller family had used their capital and connections to forcibly block public opinion, trying to suppress the matter.
Vincent looked at the backend data, his brow furrowed.
"The Rockefeller family moved fast. They must have spent a fortune to forcibly control comments and throttle traffic. The news can't spread through normal channels at all."
Olivia's expression remained calm, not at all affected by the obstacles before her. Instead, she pointed at the data from a news outlet called "Safe Harbor Media."
"Why hasn't this media outlet's data changed?"
Vincent frowned slightly.
"I'm not sure either. Let me check."
Soon, Vincent had an answer.
"Sister, do you know a man named Sean Davis?"
Olivia thought hard for a long time. The name sounded familiar, but she couldn't remember who he was.
Vincent was somewhat helpless.
"He's the head of this media outlet. He says you saved his life a year ago. It seems you cured him of some poison, so he absolutely won't bow to the Rockefeller family... You saved someone and don't even remember their name?"
Only then did Olivia realize, smiling helplessly.
"I see. Yes, I think there was something like that."
After speaking, Olivia's lips curved up again.
"Since he's supporting me like this, of course I can't let him down."
