Chapter 87 Secret To Hide

Chapter 87 Secret To Hide
The following day.
Luna Rosie regained consciousness, but her problem remained the same. Although air had already entered her nostrils, she couldn't open her mouth, she couldn't open her eyes, move her hands, and she couldn't move the rest of her body parts.
She was frozen!
She could only hear voices, breath and looked like she was in a deep sleep.
She heard her husband get out of bed. She could hear his movements across the room, but she couldn't open her mouth to call his name. She lay on the bed like a statue, unmoving but breathing.
She tried her best to move her hands and feet but failed at every attempt!
It’s so damn frustrating!
“MY LOVE, PLEASE SAVE ME!” She was screaming for him to check on her.
But to her dismay, he only says, “Sleep more, my love. Rest well so you can recover from your strange illness. I'm going out early with my brothers for some important mission outside the city. I’ll text you later. Bye, I love you.”
After planting a gentle kiss on her head, he walked away, heading to the door and exiting the room.
Luna Rosie cry in despair. Now that her husband is gone from the room, she doesn't know how long he will return home.
Ah, she still has hope left.
The maid will arrive soon and she hopes the maid will wonder why she’s not up yet and hopefully she will try to wake her up.
It’s the only choice left for her.
If no one wakes her up, she might die eventually.
Her condition yesterday was much better because she could still walk, move around the room, and open her mouth.
Today her condition worsened. No way out. She feared today might be her last day on earth if nobody wakes her up before it’s too late.
One hour later.
Luna Rosie finally heard the door opening. It must be the maid!
“Mira, good morning. Your breakfast is here,” the maid announced.
Luna Rose waited for the maid to come to bed after she did not reply, unfortunately, the maid left the room.
Dammit!
From the looks of it, she is going to die for real today.
Maybe the maid thought she still wanted to sleep more and didn't want to be disturbed.
What is she going to do now? Waking up from her nightmares is impossible. As if there was a powerful entity orchestrating this madness for the sole purpose of torturing her.
She tried moving her hands, feet and mouth again to no avail. Unfortunately she was still in her frozen state.
What’s going on with her body?
Who is punishing her?
She couldn't think of anyone responsible for her strange condition, only Mira! She was the last person she saw before her health deteriorated. Mira knew she was trying to kill her. Maybe this is Mira’s way of revenge, punishing her for her sins. But Mira is just an ordinary human being. She has no power.
How can Mira freeze her and do these strange things to her at a distance? Mira is not even in the room to cause her great damage.
If Mira is not the culprit, then who is it?
She has no other enemy, only Mira.
Her head hurts after thinking so much, trying desperately to guess who was punishing her.
One hour later.
She heard the door opening again. It could be the maid returning to get the tray!
The maid looked at the untouched food on the table. Her brows furrowed, confused. “Mira, why aren't you waking up yet? Your food is getting cold,” she said and walked to the bed, peering into Mira’s face.
She was shocked and horrified to see Mira’s lifeless face. She was no longer breathing. Her mouth was slightly open, looking like she was gasping for air. When she touched Mira’s arm, it felt cold under her touch.
The maid finally realized what was going on…
“Mira is dead!” The maid screamed, bolting to the door and exiting the room in a hurry to inform everyone downstairs of what she had discovered in the room.
The ear splitting scream of the maid startled Luna Rosie. What the hell?
Why was the maid terrified and screaming that Mira was dead?
She is not dead yet!
She is very much alive! Although she couldn't move her body and open her mouth, she was still breathing. Can’t the maid see that?
SHE IS STILL ALIVE!
Stupid maid!
After she wakes up, she will scold the maid for stupidly declaring her dead.
She waited for the maid to return to the room.
A few minutes later, she heard several footsteps approaching her bed.
“Mira is dead? Are you sure?” Luna Queen Rebecca asked. She looked at Mira lying lifeless on the bed and saw her pale face, her mouth slightly open, no eye movement. She was frozen on the bed like a statue, a clear indication that she had already passed away.
Oh no! Her heart skipped a beat. No, it can’t be! Rosie can’t be dead!
Not fully convinced yet, she touched Rosie’s arms and it was so cold under her touch. And when she put her fingers in front of her nose, she was no longer breathing. “She is dead!” she declared with a finality to her voice.
“Call the physician right away!” Luna Queen Rebecca ordered the maid.
The maid immediately leaves the room to fetch the pack doctor.
A few minutes later the pack doctor arrived and after a few minutes checking Mira's lifeless body he finally gave his verdict. “Mira is dead, your highness," the pack doctor declared.
Luna Queen Rebecca took a deep breath. “Leave the room and wait outside,” she ordered calmly.
After the pack doctor left the room, Luna Rebecca locked the door and immediately called her son on the phone.
“Hello Mom, what is it? Why did you call me?” Alpha Gideon asked.
“Son, come back home right away. Your wife is dead. The maid found your wife dead on the bed,” she said.
“What? Are you kidding me?” Alpha Gideon asked in disbelief.
“I’m not joking around, son. Just come home now and see for yourself,” she insisted.
“OK. I’ll be there in a few minutes,” he replied.
Their short phone conversation ended.
Luna Queen Rebecca took photos and video of Mira’s lifeless body and sent them to her son to prove she was not joking around.
Her son’s response is a dozen crying emoji, conveying his heartbreak.
In the eyes of the staff, Mira is the one who died today. But in reality, it was Luna Rosie.
Technically Mira has no relatives, so she can be buried today in the cemetery. She will wait for her son’s decision.
She texted the rest of her family regarding what had happened to Luna Rosie aka Mira.
Half an hour later, Alpha Gideon finally arrived at the mansion and went straight to his bedroom located on the second floor.
Luna Queen Rebecca locked the door after her son entered the room.
“What happened to her?” he asked, and rushed to the bed.
“Son, she is already dead. After inspection, the pack doctor declared that she had already passed away. You have to be careful and avoid calling her Rosie ‘coz it might bring confusion to everyone. Be careful with your words,” she reminded him.
“Copy.” He sat on the bed and hugged his wife one last time, her lifeless body stiff and cold. “I can’t believe it. She was alright when I woke up this morning and I kissed her head and it was warm before I left the room. Why is this happening?” he asked miserably. Tears shimmered in his eyes.
“According to the maid, she brought the tray here and informed Rosie about the food. She got no response so she left the room. When she returned an hour later to retrieve the tray, Rosie was still sleeping on the bed. And when she finally checked on her, that's when she noticed the signs. Rosie was no longer breathing. She came running down the stairs, telling everyone that Rosie is dead,” Luna Queen Rebecca explained.
Alpha Gideon continued holding his wife’s cold hand. He cannot believe how things happened so fast. They went to the hospital yesterday for a check up and she was healthy based on the test results. Why is this happening? Did the test fail to detect her fatal illness?
He was heartbroken and devastated.
His wife's sudden passing shook him to the core.
Luna Queen Rebecca patted her son’s shoulder gently, comforting him. “We should bury Mira’s body in the cemetery today. She has no relatives so we all have the right to decide how we will conduct her burial. Besides, everyone thinks she is Mira, therefore no need to inform the media that she died because she was never married to you. It’s easier for us to handle this problem in our own way,” she said calmly.
“But how about her family? Shall we inform them about what happened to her?” he asked between tears.
Luna Queen Rebecca shook her head. “No. There is no need to inform them because technically Rosie is still alive. If we inform them, how can we explain to them about the soul swap? They will only get confused. Everyone will have a hard time understanding everything if we reveal the truth.”
Alpha Gideon nodded his head. “You are right, Mom. We can’t inform her family about her death. Let’s just bury her in the royal cemetery this afternoon.”
“OK. I’m going to call the funeral home and make burial preparations,” Luna Queen Rebecca said and left the room.
Alpha Gideon was finally left alone in the room with his dead wife. He let tears flow down his cheeks and cried in silence, grieving the sudden passing of his beloved wife Rosie. She was very much alive yesterday but this morning she passed away.
How could her death happen so fast?
He continued shedding tears for the love of his life, tears rolling down his face while he was holding her cold hand.
On the other hand, Luna Rosie was screaming to be heard.
“MY LOVE, I’M STILL ALIVE! I’M VERY MUCH ALIVE! WHY CAN’T YOU HEAR ME?” Luna Rosie screamed at the top of her lungs, shouting in desperation, telling her husband she was still alive. But no matter what she does her mouth won't open and her hands won't move. She was already confirmed dead in his eyes.
Why can’t her husband hear her voice?
Why?
Why can’t he feel her heartbeat and detect the air passing through her nostrils?
Why couldn't he know that she was still very much alive?
What’s going on?
Why are these bizarre things happening to her?
She cried and lamented in silence because no one could hear her words. She was already confirmed dead in their eyes.
If that is the case then why was she still alive?
Why did she have to witness all this?
Who is torturing her, punishing her, and subjecting her to this cruel suffering?
Why can’t her consciousness die immediately so she doesn't have to witness all this horror happening around her?
Alpha Gideon never leaves the room to watch over his wife’s dead body.
Two hours later, the funeral home staff arrived at the room to put Mira’s body in the coffin and display it in the living room based on the Luna Queen's instructions.
Meanwhile…
News of Luna Rosie's sudden passing finally reached Lena. She rushed into Mira’s bedroom and announced the sad news.
“I just got news from my friends in the mansion. Luna Rosie is dead!” Lena broke the news.
“Whaaaat?” Shocked, Mira accidentally dropped the apple she was holding onto the floor. “What did you say?” she asked. Her heart stopped beating for a few seconds.
“It’s true. My friend, the cook, just texted me just now. Luna Rosie is dead. The maid who regularly served her found her lifeless body on the bed after Alpha Gideon left the mansion,” Lena explained.
Mira shook her head in utter shock and disbelief, as agony tore her heart to pieces. She was completely devastated after hearing the news. It’s her body after all. Besides, she didn't inform Alpha Gideon about Luna Rosie's plan to kill her because she didn't want to cause trouble and she hopes that the lioness will repent of her evil ways.
She is ready to give Luna Rosie another chance.
She was still hoping they could be cordial to each other after the wedding for the baby's sake and for Alpha Gideon’s sake.
But now Luna Rosie is gone for good. How did it happen?
She recalled that when Luna Rosie left the bungalow house the other night after the failed murder attempt, she was looking healthy.
But she also remembered that her pet snake had bit the evil woman. It must have been the snake’s venom that killed Luna Rosie today. Alpha Gideon texted her yesterday that he had brought his wife to the hospital for a check up because she was experiencing strange illnesses on and off. All of her tests came out negative yesterday, but this morning she was already dead.
How could this be?
She had mixed emotions about Luna Rosie’s death.
Should she feel relieved, happy or sad?
Should she feel relieved and happy that her number one tormentor is dead? Or sad because her body died today. She is overwhelmed with emotions right now.
Should she feel guilty because she knew the reason why Luna Rosie died but never told Alpha Gideon the truth? Why should she tell him the truth? How could she explain to him the existence of her invisible pet snake? And besides, she was scared he might blame her for his wife’s death.
No! She can’t tell him the truth.
Her pet snake saved her from death. If her pet snake didn't bite Luna Rosie on time, she would be the one who ended up dead after the horrific knife attack.
She can’t tell Alpha Gideon that his wife attempted to kill her by slitting her throat with a knife.
She will take her secret to her grave.
For now she will attend her own burial.
“What will they do to my body?” Mira asked calmly, misty-eyed
“My friend told me that the coffin had already arrived at the mansion and everyone could pay respects to Mira in the living room where the funeral wake is held. The Luna Queen also announced that Luna Rosie would be buried in the royal cemetery on the same day. The burial will take place today at 5:00 in the afternoon,” Lena replied gloomily.
Mira took a deep breath. “OK. We shall attend Luna Rosie’s burial,” she finally said.
“A-are you sure? Will Alpha Gideon allow us to go to the mansion?” Lena asked apprehensively.
“Why not? It’s my body that they are going to bury. I have all the rights to be there,” she said despondently. “I just want to say goodbye to my body and Luna Rosie for the last time,” she said, fighting back tears.
“OK. I understand, it’s your body after all," Lena sighed and exited the room to get ready for their trip to the mansion.
Mira was left alone in the room, musing, staring at her innocent looking pet, relaxing on top of the pillow.
She went to bed and picked up her pet. “You killed her, didn't you? You killed Luna Rosie with your deadly venom?”
The snake met her gaze and nodded its head as if saying, ‘Yes, I’m the one responsible.’
She took a deep breath. She couldn’t blame her pet. It was just trying to protect her. If Brownie didn’t save her life, she would be the one dead along with her innocent baby in her belly.
Brownie ended one life in order to save two lives.
She was grateful for her pet’s timely intervention. “Thank you for saving my life and my unborn child’s life. I owe you one in this lifetime.”
The snake nodded its head, accepting her heartfelt gratitude.
She picked up her phone from the table and texted Alpha Gideon that she wanted to attend Luna Rosie’s burial.
After a few minutes of waiting, he finally responded saying he would fetch her in a few minutes.
Mira dressed appropriately for the burial, wearing a black ensemble.
She was determined to hide the truth about Luna Rosie's sudden passing.
She deemed the truth so difficult for Alpha Gideon to process and accept, that it could break him, it could break their relationship to the ground. That is why she could never tell him about it.
She will keep her secret to her grave.
