Chapter 6 This Can't Be!
One hour later.
Alpha Gideon entered the room and looked at his wife. "Are you ready, my love?"
"Yes, I'm ready," Mira replied, feeling nervous. She didn't want to openly gawk at her husband's naked body while he was dressing up, so she opened the closet, admiring Rosie's bags and shoes collection.
A few moments later, Alpha Gideon was ready to go. "Let's go, my love," he said, reaching for her hand.
They left the room, holding hands.
It's the first time Mira has stepped outside the room since last night's incident. She was terrified of meeting the entire royal family. She was scared they would see the truth in her eyes.
Thankfully, they managed to reach the luxurious black car waiting in the driveway of the mansion without meeting the other members of the royal family.
Mira got into the car, feeling relieved.
The short drive to the hospital was filled with silence.
Alpha Gideon didn't attempt to initiate a long conversation with her, but he held her hand throughout the ride, comforting her in silence.
'He kept to himself. Maybe he was worried about my condition,' Mira thought to herself.
After arriving at the hospital, they went straight to the neuropsychologist's office in charge of cases relating to memory loss.
They waited for fifteen minutes before they were able to see the doctor.
Alpha Gideon explained to the doctor what happened to his wife last night and how she woke up with memory loss after her heart stopped beating for a few hours.
Dr. Murphy conducted several tests to determine Rosie's illness. He also asked her several questions.
"Luna Rosie, after waking up from your deep sleep, did you forget your name? The names of people around you, including the names of your family members? Am I correct?" the doctor asked.
Mira nodded her head. "Yes."
Dr. Murphy continued, "But you remember your husband and his name, right?"
Mira responded, "Yes. He is the only one I remember."
"You could have selective amnesia. It's a case where you only remember some people and some parts of your life, but you forget the rest," Dr. Murphy explained.
"So, Doc, can my wife still regain her memory one day? Will her memory return?" Alpha Gideon asked.
"Yes, of course. But we don't know when. The best thing to do is remind her of everything about her past and who she is so she can regain her memory fast. Being her husband, she needs your full support and love during these difficult times, especially since she is pregnant," Dr. Murphy elaborated further.
Mira was listening to the doctor's explanation in amusement. She was sure the doctor would have a heart attack if she told him that her soul had entered Luna Rosie's dead body after her own death.
But her body is still very much alive. That's her biggest problem now. Her body had been taken over by another soul, and she wanted to know who it was. The more she thought about it the more she wanted to go home and find the truth at once.
She begins massaging her head, pretending she has a headache.
After the men's conversation was over, Dr. Murphy looked at Rosie and said, "Luna, I will ask you more questions."
Alpha Gideon looked at his wife worriedly. "What's wrong, my love?"
"My head hurts because I'm forcing myself to remember everything," Mira replied, teary-eyed.
"Oh, don't force yourself, dear. Just take it easy one day at a time. Your full memory will return soon. Just don't be too hard on yourself," Dr. Murphy said gently.
"Thank you, Doc. Can I go home now? I badly needed a rest because my head is hurting right now," Mira said pleadingly, placing her head on the desk, faking pain to the fullest.
"Sure, just come back here next week for another checkup," Dr. Murphy replied.
"OK, thanks Doc." Mira stood up, ready to leave.
The couple left the doctor's office and returned to their waiting car.
In the passenger seat, Alpha Gideon asked, "Does your head still hurt, my love?"
Mira nodded her head. "Yes, a little bit. But I will be fine once I have a long rest."
Alpha Gideon planted a kiss on her head. "Good. We will arrive home soon. You can rest as long as you like."
Mira smiled, happy to feel his genuine love and support.
Alpha Gideon instructed the driver to drive home. The family driver started the engine and left the hospital.
They arrived home after a short drive and the couple went straight to their room on the second floor of the mansion.
Mira was left alone in the master's bedroom because Alpha Gideon had a family meeting to attend to on the 3rd floor of the mansion.
"Luna, would you like to drink chamomile tea before resting? It will help alleviate your stress and anxiety due to your memory loss," Lena suggested.
"Yes please," Mira replied cheerfully.
Lena left the room. When she returned a few moments later with a cup of tea, she was accompanied by another maid carrying a basket of laundry into the room.
Mira froze.
She knew this maid, her name was Roda, and they worked together in the servant's quarters at the back of the mansion.
It was time to ask Roda about her body. First, she needed to send Lena away from the room. "Can you get me some cookies and orange juice from the kitchen, please?" she requested.
"Sure, Luna. I'll get some cookies from the kitchen." Lena replied and left the room.
Mira sipped the chamomile tea while looking at the servant, who didn't recognize her anymore. "Miss, I heard recently that several servants were afflicted with the deadly flu virus. How's everyone doing now?" she asked casually.
"Everyone recovered well, Luna. They are back on their feet, working as usual," Roda replied.
Mira was shocked. "No one died? Everyone is alive?" she asked again. Her hands tremble as fear and anxiety hit her hard.
"Yes, Luna," Roda responded, folding the fresh linen and clothes onto the bed.
"I...including Mira?" she asked. Her heart beat frantically in her rib cage when she mentioned her own name.
"Yes, Luna. Mira survived the flu," Roda answered, wondering why Luna specifically asked about Mira.
OMG! Lena was telling the truth. Mira's heart throbbed with anxiety. "How is she now?"
"There is something weird about Mira's behavior today, Luna. She was crying and complaining while looking at herself in the mirror. She couldn't accept that she was ugly. Which is funny because she has always been ugly," Roda laughed. "And Mira demanded to come here to the mansion to talk to Alpha Gideon because she needed to tell him something important about her situation."
Color drained from Mira's face. Her anxiety shot up to the roof. Her hands trembled, nearly dropping the cup onto the floor. "Go on. Tell me more about Mira..."
"The head servant was annoyed because Mira refused to do the chores assigned to her saying she is not a servant, insisting she is Luna Rosie. The girl was hallucinating. She has gone insane after recovering from the flu. We found it funny so we don't believe her outrageous claim," Roda added with a smile.
Mira closed her eyes as dread gripped her hard.
So it's her!
Her worst fear has finally materialized. Luna Rosie's soul was reborn in her body.
Mira's head spun. She felt dizzy. She's going to pass out in fear of being found out. Panicking, she immediately puts the cup down on the table and quickly lay down on the bed.
"Luna, are you okay? You look pale," Roda asked worriedly, looking at her face.
"I'm fine. You should go now. I want to rest," Mira ordered with her eyes closed, trying to calm herself.
"Copy, Luna." Roda picked up the laundry basket and left the room after putting the clothes in the closet.
Mira closed her eyes, groaning apprehensively. How could this have happened?
Luna Rosie was occupying her body now.
It's just a matter of time before her secret is revealed.
'This is a complete nightmare!' She was groaning in dismay.
She needs to find a quick solution to her problem!
But how?
