Chapter 47 Reversed
Mira quickly wiped away the tears from her eyes before she sat upright on the bed. “What is it?” she asked, looking directly into her eyes.
Luna Rosie noticed her swollen eyes, red from crying. “Are you crying? Why are you crying?”
Mira heaved a sigh. “I’m not crying, something gets into my eyes and causes irritation,” she lied. “What is it? Are you going to send me to the bungalow house now?” she asked excitedly, yearning for a place to call her own away from the royal family who treated her as a nobody.
"Unfortunately, no. There is a change of plan. The royal family decided that it was better for you to remain here in the mansion in order to keep the soul swap a secret. We have no choice but to obey their orders,” Luna Rosie said wearily.
“What do you want me to do?” Mira asked.
“After lunch, men will come here to construct a door connecting this room to the room next door. You will stay in the other room temporarily while me and my husband stay here in our original room. I will enter and exit your room and pass through the connecting door to reach my room. This way no one will see me getting in and out of my husband’s room. It’s an arrangement I don’t like but I have no choice but to follow their orders,” Luna Rosie explained.
“Ah, so the new arrangements will take effect today?” Mira asked.
“Yeah, we will spend the rest of our afternoon in the garden until the men finish creating the connecting door,” Luna Rosie said. “I hate this arrangement! The bungalow house is better," she added in agitation. She believes that Mira is a walking temptation to her husband. She needs to separate them. The two need to be far away from each other, but the temporary arrangement was ruining her plans and intensifying her fears.
She hated her husband’s arrangement.
She was furious, she wanted to explode in anger. She wanted to destroy something!
Mira noticed that Luna Rosie was fuming in anger. To protect herself she quickly left the bed and walked to the bathroom to hide there, fearing that the lioness would grab her hair and hurt her again. The moment she stepped into the bathroom she quickly locked the door, making sure the lioness couldn't enter.
She released a deep sigh of relief and looked at herself in the mirror.
She was expecting to hear Luna Rosie’s wolf in her mind, launching verbal attacks on her, but she never heard Ada’s voice again for a long time. Where did that annoying wolf go?
Anyway, good thing that moody wolf never spoke to her again. She doesn't want Ada to interrupt her thoughts again. Luna Rosie and her wolf are troublesome. She doesn't want to be associated with them if she has a choice.
While Luna Rosie was dealing with her anger outside, Mira continued to stare at her face in the mirror.
Mira admired her beautiful face. She wanted to have a life like Luna Rosie, pretty and wealthy, loved by everyone. Such a good life she has at the moment. Too bad she can’t fully enjoy her current life because everything she has now is not rightfully hers.
Tired of standing, she sat on the toilet cover and waited for Luna Rosie to leave the room.
She evaluated the arrangement approved by the royal couple. The positive side is that she can still see Alpha Gideon’s handsome face every day. The negative side, Luna Rosie will be watching her every move, like a dragon constantly breathing fire into her neck.
Sigh.
It’s very tiring worrying about her problems because she has no choice, she can only follow their orders.
She feels like a puppet in someone else's body, no freedom at all to decide for herself, dependent on someone else's command.
She was reborn, yet she had no freedom at all.
The soul swap brought more trouble than joy. But what could she do? She couldn't get out of her situation.
She rose to her feet and pressed her ears on the door, trying to hear the sounds from outside. She heard the door open and was followed by silence. Great! The lioness was gone from the room!
She grabbed the door handle and exited the bathroom.
She stands in the middle of the room. What is she going to do next? Should she watch TV, read a book or just lay on the bed and do nothing?
Suddenly the baby in her tummy playfully kicked her abdomen from within. Not once but five times. She smiled brightly, amused by such cute movements. “Baby, you are so naughty,” she said and sat on the edge of the bed, caressing her belly lovingly, waiting for her unborn child to kick in again, but there was no movement anymore.
So she stood up, went to the window and looked outside, staring at the horizon, admiring the clear blue sky.
After admiring the sky she looked down and was greeted with colorful flowers in the garden. Suddenly her eyes were drawn to the thick green plants on the ground. She focused her attention on them, and that's when the green leaves started moving.
This time, Mira will wait for whatever causes the movement to expose itself.
But after waiting for a long time, nothing happened because the movement had stopped completely.
The mystery behind those moving leaves aroused her curiosity because until now she had failed to discover what was causing the movement.
This coming afternoon while they are in the garden she will check the green plants even if there is no movement at all.
She left the window and went to the closet to get a maternity dress and then went to the bathroom to take a bath.
After Mira finished her shower, Luna Rosie finally returned to the room, looking calm.
“Can I see my new room, pretty please?” Mira asked politely.
“OK, follow me,” Luna Rosie replied, leading the way.
The women went to the next room.
“This room was previously occupied by my husband before I came into his life. I chose the next room as our bedroom because it’s much bigger than this room,” Luna Rosie explained.
Mira smiled, liking the king-size bed. The room was big enough for her. It was equipped with a flat screen TV, modern furniture, a closet, dressing table, a clean bathroom and a big window.
“What do you think of your temporary space?” Luna Rosie asked.
“This room is fine. But I like the bungalow house better. I want to stay there because it’s a peaceful place and I love the man-made pond there. It's so lovely,” Mira said wistfully.
Luna Rose liked Mira’s statement which means the girl has no plans of pursuing her husband. Her original plan was meant to keep Mira away from the mansion. Far away from her husband as possible. “Don’t worry, this is just a temporary arrangement. You will be relocated to the bungalow house soon,” she said reassuringly.
“I hope so,” Mira said excitedly. Her overall impression of the room is good. It will be her private space away from the couple. So near yet so far from Alpha Gideon. She will try to make the best of her situation.
Luna Rosie was observing Mira’s face closely. “I want to ask you a personal question…”
Mira nodded her head. “Sure. Bring it on. What is it?”
“How did you get the scars on your face?” Luna Rosie asked curiously.
Mira froze, startled by her question. She was hesitating to reveal the truth why she got the scars on her face. That painful episode in her life was too traumatic for her to recall.
“Come on, tell me the story behind it,” Luna Rosie coaxes her.
Mira closed her eyes, trying to force words out of her mouth. Her past was so painful and awful that she didn't want to remember those hellish times anymore. Maybe this time she will be brave enough to share her painful past with another soul who is ready to listen.
She took a deep breath and began her emotionally draining narration. “Um, the scars on my face were carved by a jealous woman, my foster mom. I was sexually abused in the past by my foster father. He forced me to give him a handjob. He taught me how to do it. One day, he was no longer satisfied with my handjob, he abused me sexually, and would hit me with his belt if I refused his advances." She paused for a moment, trying to find the strength to carry on with her narration.
Then she continued, "One day, my adoptive mother saw us on the bed. Angry and jealous, she sedated me and carved those painful and hideous scars on my face with a knife. I lay on the bed, my face bleeding. When her husband arrived home, he saved me and cleaned my wound and applied medicine to it. Then in order to save his marriage, he kicked me out of the house after my wounds had healed. That’s how I got scars on my face,” she said in a wretched tone. Her eyes were swarmed with tears.
There’s more to the abuse but she cut her narration short because painful memories are flooding her mind, turning her into an emotional wreck.
“Oh, sorry to hear that,” Luna Rosie said softly. She never expected Mira’s past to be so traumatic. No woman should suffer abuse at the hands of other people. Poor girl! Mira deserves some pity right now. She was lucky because she was born into a loving family, pampered all her life.
“Thanks for showing pity on my sad flight. Not all women are born in a loving and peaceful environment. I've been an orphan, abused, rejected and unloved all my life. That’s my destiny. Unlike you, your life has been great from childhood to adulthood, am I right?” Mira asked.
“Yeah, I have a good life, so much better than yours. Ironically, our situation was reversed. You are living my life now, while I’m in your body wearing your disgusting scars every day. So ironic, so horrible!” Luna Rosie’s mouth twitched in displeasure.
“So, what are you gonna do with my face to improve your current situation?” Mira asked curiously.
“Next week, I’m going to visit a cosmetic surgeon’s office for a scar assessment," Luna Rosie replied.
Mira asked, “Why?”
“I will remove the scars on your face,” Luna Rosie responded casually. “I believe you are not really ugly, but the hideous scars are the reason why you look ugly. Who knows, you could be a real beauty like me?"
Mira smiled. “That’s awesome!”
“After the ugly scars were successfully eliminated from your face, that is the time I will marry my husband for the second time. I married him the first time in my body and now I’m going to marry him again the second time in your body. All this bullshit is making me crazy! So fucking annoying!” Luna Rosie blurted in disdain, aggrieved by the whole thing.
“Fantastic!” Mira squealed in delight.
Luna Rosie’s face darkened instantly. She glared at the smiling maid, wanting to throttle her. “Dammit, why are you so happy at the expense of my misery? What is there to be happy about?”
