Chapter 25 Oh, My Husband!
Mira quickly bowed her head. “Greetings, Luna Mother…”
Luna Rosie quickly exited the gazebo and waited outside like every servant does, waiting for orders. She watched her mother-in-law sit on the sofa and talk to the impostor Mira. Her blood was boiling, annoyed that Mira had managed to fool the Luna Queen. She shifted her attention to the roses beside her. They look bloody red, so serene looking yet so thorny just like Mira.
“I went to your room a while ago but you weren’t there so I came here to ask you how you are doing today?” Luna Rebecca asked, observing her face.
“I’m fine, Mother. Thank you for asking,” Mira replied with a smile.
"How is your memory? Have you remembered everything already?” asked Luna Rebecca.
Mira shook her head. “Sadly not yet, Mother,” she responded gloomily, tears shimmering in her eyes. “I’m so sorry, I still can’t remember all," she said apologetically.
Luna Rebecca sighed. “It’s okay, don’t force yourself. No one is forcing you to remember all at once. Take your time. I’m just glad that you already remembered the password of your phone. I just talked to my son a few hours ago and he informed me that he was able to do a video chat with you. You are now remembering things slowly. It’s a good sign. Keep it up.”
Mira smiled. “Um, I saw the password written in the address book in the drawer of my dresser table. I probably wrote it before I lost my memory. So I tried it on my phone and it worked. That's how I was able to access my phone and chat with my husband,” she explained, glancing briefly at Luna Rosie who was listening nearby.
She couldn't see Luna Rosie's reaction because of the veil on her face, but she knew the mean girl was amused after hearing her white lies.
“Oh, I see…I thought you were starting to remember things...” Luna Rebecca said in a disappointed tone.
Mira saw disappointment on the Luna Queen’s face. She decided to test her. “Mother, what if I can’t remember all the things I have forgotten? Are you disappointed that my illness has no cure? Are you going to pick another wife for your son? Will you kick me out of the mansion?” she asked apprehensively.
Luna Rosie heard Mira’s question loud and clear. She looked at the two women, not bothering to hide her curiosity. She would like to know what the Luna Queen’s answer will be to Mira’s question.
Luna Rebecca smiled. “Don’t worry, dear, even if you forget everything, we the royal family still support you. My son loves you so much. In your tummy you are carrying the heir to the throne. You and your unborn child are very important to us. You only lost your memories, but you never lost our love and support. So carry on, dear. Don’t let your illness stress you out,” she said reassuringly, patting her daughter-in-law’s hands gently, a sign of her unwavering support.
Mira smiled, very much pleased with Luna Rebecca's reply.
“We will never kick you out of the mansion unless you are going to do something terrible like cheat on our son behind his back,” Luna Rebecca added.
Mira shook her head vigorously. “I will never do that to my husband. I love him so much.”
“I know,” Luna Rebecca smiled. “By the way, let’s discuss your pregnancy symptoms. Are you still feeling dizzy nowadays?”
“Yes, sometimes, but not all of the time,” Mira replied.
“Don’t leave your room alone without your maid so she can assist you if you are not feeling well. You should take care of yourself and your baby especially when your husband is not around,” Luna Rebecca said. “You can come to me if you need help with anything. If you are not feeling well, we can always go to the hospital and see a doctor if our pack doctor can’t cure your illness. You have nothing to worry about. Your health is my priority so don’t hesitate to tell me anything. Okay?”
“Yes, Mother, and thank you for your concern. I will definitely seek your help if the need arises,” Mira replied with a grateful heart, thankful that her mother-in-law was concerned about her safety and well-being.
“By the way, I have something to ask you,” Luna Rebecca said.
Mira suddenly felt nervous. “What is it, Mother?”
“Does your maid sleep in your room at night?” Luna Rebecca asked, looking at the servant standing outside the gazebo.
“Yes, because I had a nightmare once and woke up in the middle of the night. After that I’m scared to sleep alone in my room so I decided to let my maid sleep in my room at night so there is someone who can assist me. The maid sleeps on the floor, I sleep on the bed,” Mira explained. “Why Mother? Is it not allowed?” she asked nervously, fearing she would be scolded by her mother-in-law.
Luna Rebecca smiled. “It’s okay. As long as it's good for your health, it’s fine with me.”
“Thank you, Mother,” Mira said, feeling relieved.
Suddenly Luna Rosie’s phone rang loudly. Oops, she forgot to mute it. She wanted to answer the phone but the Luna Queen might wonder why the phone was in her position.
Both Mira and Luna Rebecca glanced at the maid.
“What are you waiting for? Answer your phone,” Luna Rebecca commanded the maid.
Luna Rosie quickly fished out the phone from the pocket of her uniform and checked the caller. Oh no, it was her husband!
“Mira, give me my phone now!” Mira ordered.
Luna Rosie rushed to Mira’s side and handed her the phone.
Luna Rebecca’s brows drew together. “Why did your maid have your phone?” she asked, frowning.
Mira cleared her throat. “I told her to pick up the phone for me when we came here. I forgot to get it from her when you arrived here Mother because we started talking to each other right away,” she explained in a convincing tone.
“Ah okay.” Luna Rebecca nodded her head, believing in her daughter-in-law’s explanation.
Mira looked at the screen on her phone. It was Alpha Gideon calling her. She answered his call. “My love, sorry for not answering you right away,” she apologized sincerely.
“My love, I’m back from the forest. I got injured…the physician is here to tend to my wound. I will call you again later,” Alpha Gideon said and quickly ended the call.
Mira was stunned, shocked by the bad news. Oh God, how badly was he injured?
“What did my son say? I heard…he was injured? Is it true?” Luna Rebecca asked for clarification.
Mira nodded her head. “Yes Mother. I’m deeply worried about his condition,” she replied anxiously. She felt tightening pressure on her chest. Dear God, please save my husband! She prayed earnestly. Her heart was beating erratically in her rib cage.
Oh no, she felt dizzy!
