Chapter 82 Love Brain, Don't Trust Her
"Bianca, are you okay? Did Emily give you a hard time again?"
Bianca stumbled as Emily shoved her.
James appeared out of nowhere just in time to catch her, his voice full of concern.
Bianca, seeing it was him, bit her lip and tried to put on a brave face despite her teary eyes. "No, my sister didn't mean to push me. She must have something urgent going on!"
James scoffed, "She doesn't know anyone here. She just sweet-talked my uncle into being a judge. What urgent matter could she possibly have? Don't worry, once the competition is over, I'll make sure she goes home and stops causing trouble."
"What?" Bianca was startled but quickly hid her thoughts. "That would be great. I was worried Emily would keep making a scene."
Half an hour later, Emily returned, looking calm and relaxed. But if you looked closely, you could see a deep intensity in her eyes.
The next round of the competition began. This part involved practical skills, where contestants would diagnose and treat patients, and then be scored by the judges.
Emily was assigned to score Ophelia's group. Despite knowing Ophelia had issues, Emily maintained fairness and gave her the score she deserved based on her performance. Ophelia worked with the precision and speed of an experienced doctor, not a novice.
Suddenly, there was a commotion nearby. Initially, Emily paid no attention until she heard a familiar name. "Your name's Wren, right? A newbie like you isn't fit to treat my friend. I demand a different doctor!"
Recognizing the voice and the name Wren, Emily decided to investigate. She walked over just as Wren was responding calmly, "Mr. Johnson, since you agreed to this treatment, please cooperate. Besides, how can you judge my abilities without giving me a chance? Don't judge a book by its cover!"
Wren clearly knew Chase. Chase, his face tense, stared at Wren. "You know me? Are you one of my fans who followed me here? That makes it even worse. I demand a different doctor! Someone, get me another doctor!"
Emily remembered that Wren was indeed a fan of Chase. Although it was a coincidence, Chase's paranoia made him think she was just a fan trying to get close to him.
"Even if I was your fan, that doesn't mean I'm incompetent in my field. Besides, I'm no longer your fan!" Wren retorted. Meeting Chase in person and seeing his unreasonable, self-important attitude disgusted her.
Chase was infuriated. He called for staff, "Get me another doctor. I came here for a top-notch physician. If this newbie messes up my friend's treatment, who's going to be responsible?"
Chase, trying to avoid being recognized by others, lowered his voice and waved to the staff nearby.
Emily, unable to stand it any longer, stepped in. "This is a competition. You should have known who would be treating whom. Why are you making a scene now?"
Chase frowned upon seeing Emily. "What are you doing here? Are you defending her because you're in cahoots?"
His eyes dropped to Emily's judge badge. "You, a judge? Don't make me laugh. Isn't this hosted by the Smith Group? How did they end up with judges like you? I thought I might get lucky and find a top doctor for Aurora, but this is a joke!"
Chase was furious. He had come hoping to find a renowned doctor, but seeing Emily as a judge made him feel deceived.
Seeing Aurora weak and leaning against him, he felt guilty for dragging her around and got even angrier. "I'm leaving. If you keep this up, don't blame me for exposing your scam."
Emily couldn't believe how foolish Chase was. As a public figure, even if today's incident wasn't recorded, people would remember and spread the word online, ruining his reputation. Moreover, knowing this was hosted by the Smith Group, did he not fear offending them? Or did he think he was untouchable because of his connection with Bianca and James?
"Chase, you need to help your friend sit down. She needs immediate treatment," Wren warned, noticing Aurora's deteriorating condition.
Wren reached out to assist Aurora, but Chase pushed her away. "Back off! I said no. Either get me a top doctor or don't blame me for what happens next."
He threatened the staff, ignoring everyone's advice. The staff, looking worried, rushed to find help.
The commotion caught Bianca and James's attention. Bianca's eyes gleamed. She was struggling with her current patient's symptoms and saw this as a perfect opportunity to avoid it.
"James, I think I hear Chase's voice. Something's going on over there," she said, pretending to be worried and craning her neck to see.
Just then, a staff member came to report the situation to James. Concerned that Emily might be in trouble because of Bianca, James's expression darkened, and he hurried off with the staff. Bianca quickly followed.
Seeing Chase in the middle of the crowd, Bianca called out, "Chase!"
James recognized him too and frowned in annoyance. "What's going on here?"
The staff explained the situation objectively. James couldn't believe Chase was being so unreasonable. It made him wonder if Chase's past complaints about Emily were just his own rudeness.
Bianca, having heard everything, cursed Chase inwardly for his stupidity. Even if he was dissatisfied, causing a scene at a Smith Group event was reckless. If he needed a doctor, he could have asked James later.
"Chase, if you don't want Wren to treat her, how about I do it?" Bianca offered, thinking this would solve her problem and calm Chase down.
"You? Are you sure?" Chase, wanting to ensure safety, questioned Bianca's capability.
Bianca's face froze. Emily almost laughed out loud. Wren was right; Aurora's condition was critical.
Suppressing her irritation, Bianca said, "Chase, you know my skills, don't you? Trust me. This lady's complexion and breathing are worrying. Let me treat her. Based on her symptoms, I have a good idea of what's wrong."
