Chapter 55: Feels Good?
"You’re right, I am a doctor."
Emily kept her cool, head held high, exuding confidence.
Though, if you looked closely, her ears were a little pink.
Daniel's lips twitched into a small smile, his own ears turning red.
It was hard to tell if he was embarrassed or just feeling the heat.
Quickly, he yanked off his shirt and started fumbling with his belt.
"...You don’t need to take off your pants, just sit in the tub," Emily muttered, looking away.
Daniel could see she was flustered.
He grinned, eyes twinkling with amusement. "Alright, Doc, I’m all yours!"
Emily's mind went blank.
She felt like he was trying to flirt with her.
But when she glanced back, he was calmly sitting in the bathtub.
As the steam slowly cleared, Emily pulled herself together.
In an instant, she switched to professional mode, focused and serious.
At this moment, she saw only a patient.
Not the incredibly attractive Daniel.
As she inserted each silver needle into his body, sweat began to bead on Daniel's forehead.
He was toughing it out, trying to stay silent.
When the last needle was in place, Emily was sweating too.
This acupuncture technique demanded absolute focus and precision, sensing the energy flow, which was mentally exhausting.
That’s why she felt so drained.
Emily leaned against the wall by the edge of the tub, catching her breath before speaking, "If the pain gets too much, you can cry out. You don’t have to tough it out. The pain will last for about half an hour. After that, you’ll feel a warm sensation flowing through your meridians, which will be very comforting."
"Okay!"
Daniel forced a response through gritted teeth.
But he still didn’t make a sound.
Emily was somewhat impressed by Daniel. He truly was remarkable. Most people would have cried out halfway through the procedure.
But he managed to endure without making a sound.
After half an hour, just as Emily had predicted, the pain gradually subsided, and a soothing warmth spread through his body.
Emily could see the effect of the needles as Daniel's tightly furrowed brow relaxed, his complexion becoming more radiant.
"In a bit, I’ll prescribe some medication for you. After I remove the needles, I have some instructions for you."
"Alright!"
Time passed slowly in the bathroom.
Outside, Charles was pacing back and forth, deeply worried.
York, seeing Charles's anxiety, tried to reassure him, "Mr. Green, you don’t need to worry. If the doctor had any bad intentions towards Mr. Smith, she would have acted the first time, not waited until now. Besides, Mr. Smith hasn’t called us in, has he?"
Which meant everything was fine.
Charles knew this.
But he was worried Emily might have some peculiar habits.
He was determined to protect Daniel’s dignity at all costs.
Charles opened his mouth, calling out twice, then remembered he couldn’t make a sound, and gave up dejectedly.
Another half hour passed.
Emily removed the needles from Daniel.
"Alright, get dressed and come out. I’ll be waiting outside." Emily packed up the needles and turned to leave.
"...Splash!"
The unexpected happened quickly.
Emily hadn’t anticipated slipping.
She fell straight into the tub.
Daniel, afraid she might hit her head on the edge, instinctively reached out to catch her, pulling her into his arms.
In the moment of the accident, Emily instinctively reached out to grab something.
And then...
Firm.
With a bit of elasticity.
Emily couldn’t help but squeeze again.
"Feels good?" Daniel’s deep, magnetic voice rumbled above her head.
Realizing she had grabbed Daniel’s chest, Emily quickly let go.
Only then did she notice she was in his arms, her clothes soaked and clinging to her body, revealing her curvaceous figure.
Though she was still a bit slim, she had filled out over the past few days, taking better care of herself, so she wasn’t as frail.
Daniel’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his eyes seemed to roil with emotion.
Emily stood up.
As she thought about leaving, worried about exposure, she looked around for something to cover herself.
Daniel extended his long arm, tossing a large towel towards her.
"Wrap yourself in this and go to the next room. I’ll have York prepare some clean clothes for you."
Daniel’s voice was low and hoarse.
"Okay!" Emily didn’t argue.
She quickly wrapped herself in the towel and left.
"York, get the next room ready for the doctor and find her some clean clothes," Daniel called out as Emily opened the door.
"Yes, sir!"
Though York didn’t understand the sudden request, he followed orders.
Charles, hearing the commotion, rushed towards the bathroom.
He nearly collided with Emily, who was wrapped in a towel.
Seeing Emily in this state, Charles’s face darkened, pointing at her in accusation, though he couldn’t speak.
Even without hearing him, Emily could guess what he wanted to say.
Most likely, he thought she had taken advantage of Daniel.
Emily didn’t bother to explain, deliberately letting Charles worry.
She pushed past him and walked out.
Charles tried to grab her.
"Charles, the doctor just slipped and fell into the tub. She’s exhausted from treating me, don’t disturb her."
Daniel’s tone was calm but carried an undeniable authority.
Charles paused at Daniel’s words, missing his chance to stop Emily.
Now that she was gone, Charles hurriedly checked Daniel over.
His expression seemed to ask, "Nothing happened, right?"
Daniel didn’t explain, heading straight to the wardrobe to change clothes.
Half an hour later, Emily emerged in clean clothes.
Charles, now able to speak, stood up as soon as he saw her, "Don’t think that just because Daniel believes your little tricks, I do too. Tell me, have you been coveting Daniel for a long time? Hiding behind that mask, I want to see who you really are!"
He suddenly reached out to grab Emily’s mask.
Emily’s eyes narrowed.
She sidestepped Charles’s hand, her right index and middle fingers already holding a silver needle.
As she dodged, the needle flew out.
It landed straight in Charles’s leg.
Caught off guard, Charles’s leg buckled, and he fell to the ground with a loud thud.
Emily mocked, "Looks like you know you were rude, kneeling to apologize!"
"I’m not apologizing to you! I think you’re just using your medical skills to play tricks. I may not be as cunning as you, but don’t think I fear you. When I get up, don’t blame me for being unkind!"
Charles was the third child in the Green family, with two older brothers—one the ruthless head of the family and the other Knox.
So, people usually treated him with respect. He wasn’t used to being bullied like this.
His face flushed, glaring at Emily.
"Charles!" Daniel’s voice was stern.
Obviously angry, "The mask is part of the agreement. You’re overstepping!"
Charles’s face reddened.
He understood.
But thinking Daniel wasn’t defending him, instead siding with Emily, he felt deeply resentful.
Emily ignored Charles’s tantrum.
She walked to a flower, broke off the stem, and twirled it in her hand, "This flower mixed with almonds can be toxic. Have you eaten any almonds recently?"
