Chapter 33 Don't Blame Her for Solving It in Her Own Way
Emily wasn't influenced by James at all.
She also didn't know that Daniel had helped her deal with some troubles behind the scenes.
After finishing the documents she was working on, she didn't forget the main task at hand.
She dialed a long-forgotten number.
The last time she contacted this person was actually in her previous life.
Back then, she had begged him for help to save Hayden, who was being sold abroad.
Due to her medical skills, she had helped him before, but because of his complex and dangerous identity, she was reluctant to get involved with him unless absolutely necessary.
But this person, Knox Green, the true head of the Green family, had risked his life to save her when Hayden abandoned her to escape danger abroad.
Although she didn't blame Hayden, as she had told him to run first, and he was in such a tortured state that staying would only have held her back.
Knox Green, who had come to her aid in her time of need, was someone she was truly grateful for.
"Mr. Green, it's been a long time."
Emily didn't call Daniel, as she felt his promise was too significant to use at this moment.
Knox heard the familiar voice and laughed happily, his voice clear and clean, "Emily, I owe you a debt, not the other way around. I thought you were going to avoid me for the rest of your life!"
The same words, the familiar voice.
It instantly pulled Emily back to her past life.
She felt a bit indebted to him.
He had gotten a long scar on his handsome face for her.
Back then, he had even laughed, "This is a badge of honor. Whenever you see this scar, remember you owe me a debt!"
"Why call and not speak? Did I scare you?" Knox's voice was teasing, though his eyes showed concern.
"No, I told you, you owe me a debt. I'm calling to collect on that. I need your help to investigate a man named Rhett Moore. I heard he recently got into trouble with loan sharks. I want to know how much he owes, how he got into debt, and who he's been in contact with recently."
Emily didn't hold back, directly stating her request.
"This is a small matter. I'll arrange it right away. Since you're asking for my help, you must not be afraid of me anymore. How about we have dinner together?"
Emily wanted this favor done so they could be even, and she wouldn't drag him into the troubles of her past life again.
She was about to decline.
But Knox continued, "Emily, if you don't agree, I won't help, and the debt will remain."
His tone was shameless.
Emily thought for a moment, "Alright, you arrange it. Let me know in advance; I'm a bit busy."
Knox's face, previously hidden in the shadows, lit up with joy as he sat up straight, "Good, I'll wait for your message!"
He meant both the information about Rhett and the time and place for their dinner.
Emily hung up the phone, took a shower, and fell asleep.
She slept well.
Now, James's news hardly affected her mood anymore.
The next morning.
When she got up, Violette had already prepared breakfast and was waiting for her.
"Violette, I'm going to school later. Don't go back to Rhett's place yet. Call Atticus and invite them to stay here for a couple of days. I'll handle this matter for you soon, okay?"
Emily gave instructions to Violette before leaving the villa.
"Okay!" Violette met Emily's gaze.
Though Emily's face was still youthful and thin, there was a presence about her that reminded Violette of Daniel's aura from yesterday.
It made her instinctively agree.
Emily was satisfied and headed to school.
She went straight to find the professor of the physics department she wanted to transfer to.
Kurt Lowe was the most renowned physics professor.
Of course, he wouldn't agree.
Though he admired her courage to come directly to him.
But courage alone wasn't enough.
"No way. You're a design student. Are you kidding me, thinking you can transfer to our physics department?" Kurt thought Emily was a bit crazy.
Emily had originally studied design because of Bianca.
Her family wanted her to take care of Bianca, who wasn't in good health, at school.
Emily felt she could manage, so she didn't refuse, wanting to please her family.
"Mr. Lowe, I'm not joking."
"You say you're not, but you're an art student wanting to switch to physics after a year. It's already hard for regular students to keep up. You... you don't understand, and I don't blame you. Just go back to where you came from!" Kurt waved his hand, surprisingly not losing his temper.
Everyone knew he had the worst temper, especially on professional matters.
Emily didn't get embarrassed or run away because of Kurt's dismissal.
She took out a research topic she had been working on recently and a paper she had submitted in her past life, placing them in front of Kurt, "What about these, Mr. Lowe? Would you consider accepting me?"
The paper had been written without conducting experiments, as she knew from her past life that the data and theories were accurate and feasible.
At first, Kurt didn't pay much attention.
He thought he would read it in front of her and then harshly criticize it to make her give up.
But as he read.
He sat up straight, eyes wide, repeatedly tapping the desk, "Good, very good. Why didn't I think of this? You have such a brilliant mind. Why did you choose that major and waste a year? What a waste of talent. Luckily, it's not too late..."
Kurt's words poured out like money, coming one after another.
The transfer was settled.
Emily had gone directly to Kurt for this reason.
Kurt held many patents, and the school valued him highly. If he agreed to the transfer, all the paperwork would be taken care of.
Sure enough, Kurt didn't need her to say more and rushed to the principal's office, "I'll get your transfer done immediately. We'll start researching your topic right away..."
Kurt hurried off to the principal's office.
Emily didn't get a chance to speak.
She looked at the empty office and decided to visit her original department's advisor.
On the way, many people saw her at school and gave her strange looks.
She could faintly hear the gossip, "She hasn't been to school for two days. I thought she wouldn't dare come back. Why is she here again?"
"Is the stuff on the forum true? The school hasn't said anything about handling her?"
Emily had anticipated the school wouldn't address it, but it didn't affect her at all. She went straight to her advisor.
"Professor, what is the school planning to do about the rumors on the forum?"
Emily got straight to the point.
Her advisor, Lavinia, was a middle-aged woman.
She had been in a bad mood recently due to family business issues.
Emily dared to ask her now, which made her even angrier.
She responded coldly, "This matter has indeed had a negative impact. You should reflect on why, even without evidence, you were accused. To minimize the impact, we're handling it quietly for now, but you should stay out of trouble!"
Emily frowned, "I did nothing wrong. You haven't investigated, so why say that? I want you to find out who framed me. If you don't handle it, I'll take care of it myself!"
"Are you threatening me?" Lavinia's face turned cold, glaring at Emily and questioning her.
