Chapter 132: Truly Skilled Doctor
"Who the hell are you? What do you mean I'm pretending? I'm the real deal!"
Dwayne didn't notice Floyd and the other two medical experts who had come with Emily and Bianca because of where they were standing.
So, his tone was tough.
"Hold up!"
Emily interrupted him and turned to Aaron, "Record this."
After giving instructions, Emily turned back to Dwayne, "Alright, say that again. Are you sure you're the highly skilled doctor?"
Chase frowned, "Emily, what are you doing now? Show some respect to Dr. Larson. If you upset him and mess up Aurora's treatment, don't blame me for being rude."
Dwayne, feeling guilty with Emily recording him, hesitated.
But Chase's words boosted his confidence.
Chase probably didn't know he was a fraud; they likely had some personal conflict.
So, Dwayne spoke firmly, "I am indeed the highly skilled doctor. Only I can treat this illness. I'm here to cure diseases; whatever conflicts you have with them are irrelevant to me."
In other words, don't interfere with his treatment.
Bianca immediately played the innocent and pitiful card, "Emily, even if you dislike me, you shouldn't disturb Dr. Larson while he's treating Aurora. Can't you see Aurora's health is deteriorating?"
She quickly turned to James and whined, "James, Emily must be upset about our engagement. Otherwise, why would she follow us here? But I only considered engagement with you after she broke it off.
Can you please talk to Emily? She shouldn't let personal issues interfere with the patient's treatment."
James had a complex expression when he saw Emily arrive.
He seemed to forget that they had indeed hired a fake doctor to impersonate Emily's identity, only thinking that she must still have feelings for him to follow them to this city.
"Emily, you decided to break off the engagement yourself. What are you fussing about now? Listen, I'll give you a chance to talk about the engagement after Dr. Larson finishes treating Ms. Rivera."
James thought he was gently persuading her.
Bianca, hearing that he still wanted to re-engage with Emily, felt deeply insulted. She dug her nails into her flesh to suppress her anger.
She had to act magnanimous, "Emily, if you want to be with James again, I'll step aside. Just please don't harm the baby I'm carrying, okay?"
Bianca lowered her head, looking weak and helpless as she caressed her belly.
James couldn't help but speak, "Later, if you want to reconcile with me, you can. But you need to apologize to Bianca and accept her baby. When the baby is born, we'll say it's yours. After all, you two are related by blood, the closest relationship possible, right?"
Emily almost laughed out of anger at James.
Her purpose here wasn't to deal with such trivial matters but to expose the fake doctor.
Chase, concerned about Aurora, was the most "rational" at this moment.
"Emily, can you stop bothering Bianca and James with these issues? You can discuss them later in private. Now, shut up. I want Dr. Larson to treat Aurora."
Chase struggled to contain his anger, warning in a low voice.
Emily's gaze turned sharp as she looked at Dwayne, "Fine, let's talk about the doctor. You admit you're the highly skilled doctor, right? Then it seems you're not innocent of impersonating the doctor. Are you going to leave now, or wait for me to expose you?"
"Let me remind you, Ms. Rivera's illness isn't something you can treat."
Dwayne felt a moment of panic under Emily's intense gaze.
But she was just a young woman; what was there to fear?
He sneered, "If I can't treat her, then who can? Certainly not you! I'll treat her now, so stay out of my way."
Chase was about to kick Emily out, "Emily, I don't have time for this. Leave now before I lose my temper."
Emily's expression turned icy.
"Chase, think carefully. If you let this fake doctor treat Aurora now, don't expect me to help later."
"What fake doctor? What do you mean?"
Concerned about Aurora, Chase didn’t want to deal with Emily, but he frowned and asked.
Bianca panicked, "Emily, what are you talking about? You haven't even seen the highly skilled doctor; how do you know who they are? Don't speak nonsense and anger Dr. Larson, or you'll be responsible if Aurora doesn't get treated."
James stepped forward, "Emily, come outside with me. Don't interfere with Dr. Larson's treatment; it's a matter of life and death. You, as a medical student, should understand this."
Emily sidestepped him, looking coldly at the two who were acting in concert, "You know the truth, yet you pretend to be ignorant. I'm not here to stop the treatment but to ensure it’s done correctly. This illness, he can't treat.
And I won't let anyone use my name to treat people. I won't take responsibility for that."
"Emily, you've changed. It's one thing to target me, but now you're lying and claiming to be the highly skilled doctor. Do you think that's possible? Do you have any proof?
James, you've known Emily the longest. Have you ever seen her treat anyone?"
Bianca pulled James to her side.
The more she spoke, the more confident she felt that Emily couldn't have any proof.
James spoke, "Emily, Bianca is dedicated to helping Aurora, showing medical ethics and compassion. If you can't match that, don't stop Bianca from doing good. I remember you used to be kind-hearted, even feeding stray cats during tough times."
James reminisced about the kind-hearted Emily who only had eyes for him.
He felt increasingly unfamiliar with the current Emily.
The more he felt this way, the more he was reluctant to let go.
"It seems you're lying to yourself. Is it medical ethics or just a personal grudge? Can't you see the truth? Are you really going to keep going down this path?"
Emily stood there, her presence intimidating, causing James to subconsciously step back.
"Emily, how long are you going to keep this up? Bianca is the student of the highly skilled doctor. How could she mistake her own teacher?"
Chase was about to lose his temper.
Aurora pulled him aside and shook her head, calming him down, but his words were still full of sarcasm.
Emily chuckled, "What if she's not the doctor's student?"
"Emily, don't go too far. How could I lie about something like this?" Bianca's voice was so anxious it broke.
Dwayne spoke up, "Miss, I'm being lenient by not arguing with you, but you can't bully my student!"
"Student? You're the highly skilled doctor, right? In that case, do you recognize these people?"
Emily called out to the door, "Medical experts, please come in!"
