Chapter 100: Calling You Foolish Without Your Awareness
"What the heck is going on? Why does it look like those two cars are ganging up on the one in the middle?"
"Who's in the middle? Oh, it's James from the Smith family."
"I can't make out the drivers on either side. Who are they? They're pretty gutsy! Aren't they worried Mr. Smith will come after them later?"
The spectators' eyes were wide as they chatted.
"Is that really the point? Check out that turn! That's some serious skill. Not just anyone can pull that off, right?"
Suddenly, someone shouted.
More people stood up, buzzing with excitement.
One person standing up made others stand up too.
"Mr. Smith just got left behind! I never thought I'd see that in a race! Who are number 7 and number 8? They're incredible! Who do you think will win?"
"Doesn't that move look familiar to anyone? I remember QS pulling that off last year when they came out of nowhere!"
"Who's QS? Probably someone who learned it from them. QS has vanished."
"Haven't you checked Twitter? They announced a comeback. Could it really be them?"
"Then who’s the other one?"
Emily had no clue what everyone was talking about.
After leaving James in the dust, she made a turn.
It was the first time she faced someone who could really challenge her, and it fired up her competitive spirit.
When the other driver used the same technique she did, her eyes sparkled.
Charles was getting excited too.
One of them was Daniel, and from the technique, he recognized the other as QS. His palms were sweaty with tension.
"Go, number 7! You too, number 8!"
Charles’s shout drew attention.
"Mr. Green, who are you cheering for?"
Charles snorted, "I'm happy no matter who wins!"
As soon as he said that, Emily's car edged ahead of Daniel's, crossing the finish line first.
She knew the other driver had let her win, just a bit.
Otherwise, they would've tied for first place.
But no matter the reason, she won.
The two million dollars would fund her next experiment.
Emily got out of her car, nodded to the other driver, and said, "Thanks!"
Then she quickly prepared to leave.
She didn't want to reveal her identity just yet.
But she didn’t expect James to block her path after quitting the race.
"Who the hell are you?"
He was looking for trouble!
Emily raised an eyebrow, mocking him, "What's the matter, Mr. Smith? Lost and now you want revenge?"
She tried to walk past him.
"You’re not going anywhere!"
James stretched out his arm to block her. "You and number 8 were ganging up on me. I need to know who you are!"
Emily looked at him with disgust. "What if I don't tell you? What will you do? If you try anything, tomorrow's news will be 'Mr. Smith can't handle losing a race and abuses his power!'"
"One more time, who are you? My patience is running thin. Don't blame me if I get rough. If I use my power, what then? Do you think your news will get out?"
James wasn't listening to Emily at all. Since she embarrassed him, he was ready to make her pay.
"James, you sure talk big!"
Daniel didn't want to reveal his identity, but Charles, who had just arrived, saw the situation.
He couldn't speak up, but Charles could.
Charles laughed lightly, his tone mocking.
But James had to take him seriously.
"Mr. Green!"
James's face changed. Charles was close to Daniel and part of the Green family. He couldn't afford to offend him.
He also noticed Daniel in a racing suit standing next to Charles.
So, he didn't believe it wasn't intentional when these two ganged up on him.
"Calling me won't help. You'd better leave before you embarrass yourself. If this gets back to Daniel, the Smith family's reputation will be ruined."
As Charles spoke, he glanced at Daniel.
Emily didn't notice this. She was surprised that Charles's sharp tongue wasn't just aimed at her but at everyone.
Seeing James speechless, she couldn't help but laugh.
To James, her laughter was a provocation.
He thought that even if Charles intervened, he couldn't stop him. The Smith family was behind him. He had to vent his frustration now.
"Mr. Green, you saw Emily provoke me. And the man beside you is clearly with her. If they hadn't targeted me, I wouldn't have lost."
James still believed his loss was due to their collusion.
Emily laughed even harder. "Do you know what you look like right now?"
"What?" James didn't understand but knew it wouldn't be anything good.
"An idiot!"
Daniel spoke up.
He lowered his voice, making it hard for Emily to recognize him.
"Someone, I suspect these two of cheating for the two million dollars. And I saw that man let the woman win!"
James's face was dark with rage.
Especially now, with the spectators gathering around to see Emily.
Most of the people here were well-off and part of the same social circle. Seeing James like this, they thought he couldn't handle losing.
Someone in the crowd whispered, "What's going on? Can't handle losing?"
"I heard he thinks they ganged up on him. If number 7 and number 8 hadn't, he wouldn't have lost."
"How can he say that? The way those two turned, not everyone can do that!"
James heard the murmurs.
His face was dark. "Shut up! Who asked you to speak?"
"Tell me, who are you?"
James's shout silenced everyone.
He turned to Emily, demanding.
Emily stepped forward, her presence intimidating. "Know who I am? What will you do then, huh?"
Beside her, Daniel watched her expression and couldn't help but smile.
"Yes, I'm curious too. Since you think we're together, what do you plan to do with us?"
Though Daniel lowered his voice, it was still recognizable.
Hearing him speak so much, Emily felt a sense of familiarity.
She couldn't help but look at him more closely.
