Chapter 47
"You... let go of me first."
Evelyn suddenly remembered last night when Benjamin barged into her apartment and saw her naked.
Her pretty face instantly flushed red.
"Why?"
His voice became husky as a kiss landed on her temple.
"You..."
His hot breath fell on her, making her feel like her heart was about to burst through her chest.
Benjamin chuckled softly as he kissed her nose, her cheeks, and finally landed on her lips.
But he didn't go deeper, just repeatedly nibbling at her lips, his voice becoming muffled.
"Today I did what you wanted and ended up making your parents angry. Don't I deserve a little reward?"
How did he make her parents angry?
She opened her mouth to argue back, but instead gave him the chance to push right in.
He kissed her more deeply, and her waist went soft as she fell backward onto the bed.
Intimate acts between men and women can easily get out of control.
Especially now, when they were alone in the room, in this position.
All sorts of images flashed through Evelyn's mind - scenes of being violated in her past life, and also times when Benjamin protected her.
Her mind was very clear right now.
But the clearer she was, the more she understood how good he was to her, and the more she could recall the panic from her past life.
She didn't want to push him away, but her body uncontrollably became stiff bit by bit, and she grew increasingly tense.
How could Benjamin not feel it?
He gently bit her lip: "Don't be nervous, I won't continue."
She blinked somewhat blankly: "You don't want to have sex with me?"
As soon as she asked, she regretted it - it sounded too much like an invitation.
"I do, I dream about it." His lips brushed against hers. "But I'll give you enough time to prepare until you accept me."
After a second of silence, his voice carried a hint of helplessness.
"Forgetting someone isn't that easy. You don't need to prove anything by hurting Matthew."
What?
By the time she reacted and wanted to say that she really did want to kill Matthew back then, the door had already closed.
Should she go explain to him?
Forget it.
In their eyes, her feelings for Matthew had reached an unshakeable level.
It wouldn't be easy to convince them otherwise.
More importantly, going over there now would seem like she was offering herself to him. She didn't dare.
Benjamin leaned against the balcony, his voice drifting into the night breeze.
"How did it go?"
Samuel, on the other end of the phone, scoffed: "What, did you manage to sweet-talk your baby?"
"Yes."
Benjamin's single syllable was light and casual, yet carried a touch of tenderness.
Benjamin and Samuel had known each other for over twenty years and understood each other to an extreme degree.
However, there was no envy or jealousy between them, only sarcasm and mockery.
"You sweet-talked her, and you're still calling me at this hour? Benjamin, are you afraid I don't know you have performance issues?"
Benjamin wasn't bothered by his jab, his tone unhurried.
"So eager to know if I can perform - is it because you got dumped by a woman and now you want me? Too bad, I'm not interested in you."
When Samuel spoke again, his voice clearly carried anger: "Which eye of yours saw me get dumped?"
"I only have two eyes."
Samuel was left speechless: "Just tell me what you want, I've got things to do!"
"The Simpson family is planning a marriage alliance with the Martinez family."
Samuel cursed and hung up directly. Benjamin played with his phone, a smile curving at the corner of his lips.
When Evelyn got up the next day, she was a bit worried about feeling embarrassed when she saw Benjamin.
She didn't expect him to act like nothing happened, as if nothing had occurred yesterday.
"Eat breakfast, and after eating, I'll take you somewhere."
"Where?" She walked over and naturally picked up a sandwich and took a bite, her pretty eyes looking at him.
Benjamin took a sip of black coffee, a faint smile playing on his lips.
"You'll know when we get there."
Evelyn was about to nod along with his words when she suddenly thought of some improper images and choked, starting to cough.
"How can a grown person still choke on food?" He reached over to hand her milk while gently patting her back.
Benjamin's tone was scolding, yet carried an indescribable tenderness and comfort.
She patted her chest to get it down, looking at him suspiciously: "Tell me honestly, what weird place are you taking me to now?"
"When have I ever taken you to weird places?"
"Of course you have! That Sunset Motel place."
Thinking about the chaotic environment and messy sounds inside, her face couldn't help but redden a bit. How could he take her to that kind of place?
Going there last time to get dirt on the Brown family was one thing, but going again... no way!
Benjamin chuckled softly, his hand patting her waist reassuringly: "We're going to The Velvet Mirage."
Usually, going there was for business, but was it necessary to go there in the morning?
She suddenly remembered being picked up from there by Louis last time, and Freya being beaten by him yesterday.
After connecting all the dots in her mind, Evelyn looked at Benjamin somewhat uncertainly, asking tentatively.
"Is it to help Freya deal with the aftermath?"
Benjamin glanced at her, then returned his gaze to the tablet in front of him, continuing to read his financial news.
Ignoring her now?
Evelyn was confused for a second, not understanding why he changed so quickly.
She opened her mouth to speak, but Benjamin, who clearly hadn't looked up at her, seemed to have eyes on top of his head and coldly threw out a sentence.
"You can choke on food, so stop talking."
How could one person have two faces?
She had a temper, too!
The Velvet Mirage.
Benjamin and Evelyn walked side by side, with Freya following behind them and Chase bringing up the rear, closing the door.
"Mr. White."
After the door closed, he said in a low voice: "The person is here."
Evelyn immediately spotted Louis sitting on the sofa.
But thinking about what happened last time, she was deeply disgusted by this man and didn't want to look at him at all, walking straight to sit on the sofa.
Louis sat there with his face full of resentment. He didn't seem to be injured.
But looking closer, you could see his sitting posture was very awkward, clearly something was wrong with his body.
Freya walked up to him and sighed softly.
"Things between us shouldn't involve innocent bystanders. Now that things have come to this, let's break up."
Since Freya entered the room, Louis's eyes had been fixed on her.
The obsession and desperation in Louis's eyes showed an uncompromising refusal.
The emotional stimulation made his breathing rapid, his eyes filled with anger and pain.
She turned her head away from him: "You should know that there's no possibility between us anymore..."
"I will never agree to break up with you!"
