Chapter 20

"You're saying Alice just obediently went into the isolation room?"

Mia listened to the security guard's report, finding it a bit hard to believe.

Alice was actually being this cooperative.

At school, wasn't she pretty arrogant?

Sure enough, she must be scared now, right?

This idiot actually knows how to avoid trouble.

Mia sneered.

But Sophia looked serious.

"What's wrong, Sophia? You're not happy? Why the long face?" Mia was confused.

"If Alice doesn't fight back, then how do we keep proving she has mania and legally keep her here?"

Sophia frowned.

"How long do you want to keep her here?" Mia looked at Sophia in surprise.

Wasn't this just supposed to teach her a lesson?

A calculating gleam flashed in Sophia's eyes. "Forever."

She suddenly grabbed Mia's arm. "Mia, you're my best friend, and you have so much influence, so I want to ask for your help. We have to find a way to make Alice stay in this mental hospital for the rest of her life."

Mia frowned. "Forever? That's not really possible, is it? You said yourself that Emily really loves her."

"Even with your foster father blocking things, keeping Alice in our family's hospital forever still seems pretty unrealistic, doesn't it?"

"No, it's not unrealistic at all."

Sophia hugged Mia's arm and said, "As long as we prove that Alice poses a serious danger to society, the possibility of her staying in the mental hospital for life is very high!"

Mia was troubled. "A serious danger to society? How do we prove that?"

Sophia put on a heroic, self-sacrificing expression. "I have a way, as long as you help."

"Alright."

……

After being locked in the isolation room for a day and a night.

Christopher and I were let out.

Before Christopher was taken away by the medical staff, he winked at me, reminding me not to forget our agreement.

"Ms. Alice Baker, given your good behavior, you can be discharged."

Discharged?

So soon?

Something felt off.

Sure enough, when the security guard walked me to the hospital entrance, I saw Sophia.

As soon as Sophia saw me, she immediately ran forward, grabbed my hand, and said loudly, "Alice, have you been okay these past two days here?"

"Everyone at home is so worried about you."

Sophia lowered her voice. "Especially Emily. She's so anxious not being able to see you, she's almost going crazy. Too bad your mom and your brother are so useless; they couldn't even find where you were. Two wastes."

After saying this, Sophia gave me a provocative look.

I gave her the slap she was asking for.

Might as well hit her.

Sophia instantly fell to the ground.

The security guards at the entrance suddenly stepped forward. "Ms. Alice Baker, it seems you're having a manic episode. Please cooperate with us and go back for treatment!"

Then they tried to pin me to the ground.

I could tell this was a scene they had arranged, so there was no need to be polite.

Same thing again.

Might as well hit them.

I knocked down both guards with one hand.

Sophia got up, a look of triumph in her eyes.

Two more security guards ran out from the mental hospital, holding electric batons pointed at me.

I decided not to fight anymore.

The guards thought I was scared and warned me, "Behave yourself."

"Ms. Alice Baker, it seems you're not ready to be discharged yet. Come back with us! You need further treatment!"

So they went through all this trouble staging this scene just to make me undergo further treatment, right?

I sneered.

I followed the guards back into the hospital.

……

Mia, who had been hiding in a corner filming the video, came out.

She was still nervous, and her hands were shaking.

After all, she had just seen Alice looking like she wanted to really fight, but unexpectedly, Alice stopped there.

Mia had been really scared that Alice would discover her presence, then drag her out from the corner and beat her up.

"Did you get it all on video?"

Sophia asked.

"Of course."

Mia showed the video to Sophia.

Sophia was quite satisfied, except for Mia's shaking hands.

Hiding in a corner recording a video, and she was this scared?

Sophia was a bit helpless.

Mia hadn't even been hit by Alice before, had she?

But given Alice's build, it would be weird if Mia wasn't scared.

From the video's angle, it looked like Sophia was just talking nicely when Alice suddenly started attacking.

Sophia was quite satisfied with this video.

Very well filmed.

She was planning to post it online.

With public opinion's influence, Alice's charge of being a serious danger to society would be confirmed.

Would it still be easy to get out of the mental hospital then?

Sophia was in a good mood.

Mia was a bit curious. "Sophia, why do you want to keep Alice in the mental hospital forever?"

Sophia looked at Mia and said, "Mia, haven't you noticed that Alice has changed?"

"She has changed a bit..."

"She's become kind of violent, right?"

Mia answered.

"No, it's more than that."

Sophia suddenly felt a chill and looked into Mia's eyes. "I think she's become smarter."

"Really? Where do you see that?"

"You don't understand. I live under the same roof with her. I can clearly feel that she's different! She's not easy to fool anymore. Although I don't have any evidence yet, even her eyes have changed!"

"They've become much sharper and more intelligent."

"Anyway, as long as she's outside, I can't feel at ease. Thank you, Mia, thank you for helping me keep her locked up in here. Don't worry, I'll definitely find a way to repay you in the future."

"Once I marry into the Miller family..."

The corner of Mia's eye twitched. "Sophia, you're still obsessed with marrying into the Miller family? After what happened at the party last time..."

"Joseph isn't the only son in the Miller family. Besides, Joseph isn't even the one in power in the Miller family."

"The real heir is his cousin, Michael. I don't have to be fixated on Joseph!"

Sophia immediately became annoyed when Mia challenged her like this.

Mia had nothing more to say.

She didn't want to end up arguing with Sophia.

She could only complain internally.

'You couldn't even get close to Joseph, and you're hoping to get close to Michael?'

'Even though Michael already has a son and marrying him would only make you a stepmother, there are still plenty of wealthy young ladies who want to marry Michael.'

'Michael's worth hasn't decreased because of this son who suddenly appeared; instead, it's given many wealthy young ladies hope of marrying Michael.'

'They think that if they can win over his son, they might be able to marry Michael.'

'But so far, no one has succeeded.'

'By that, I mean no one has even successfully met Michael's son.'

'What does Sophia think she is, already fantasizing about Michael? How shameless...'

Mia sneered internally.
