Chapter 7
“No! Let’s go,” the other man said coldly after averting his gaze and looking at his wristwatch.
Fiona picked a glass of wine as they had now reached eighteen and could drink. However, unlike her, Ivanna picked a glass of orange juice.
Ivanna stared at her and smirked as she understood what the latter was trying to do.
“Okay,” she said and Fiona walked towards her.
Just as Fiona was about to click her glass with Ivanna’s, she seemed to have staggered and almost fell on Ivanna. Although she didn’t her glass of wine fell on Ivanna’s dress making the latter snort.
She looked at Fiona with a glint when the latter was looking at where the wine had landed and she pretended that her leg had trust when she was avoiding Fiona’s fall and her orange drink landed on Fiona’s dress making the latter scream.
“I am sorry,” Ivanna said immediately.
“You did it on purpose!” Fiona screamed.
“How can you say that? You almost fell on me and I stumbled back. Who knew that I was going to end up injuring my leg? That’s why I lost composure now and almost fell down,” Ivanna said as she raised the hem of her dress and people could see that her ankle was a bit red making them believe her words.
“You claim that I did it on purpose but it's not. I have explained but what about you? You didn’t injure your leg or step on the hem of your dress causing you to lose your stability and almost fall on me,” Ivanna said after seeing that everyone believed her and Fiona’s ugly face.
Hearing that. Fiona panicked as she couldn’t understand.
“I didn’t!” she said as she panicked.
“Why are you making a fuss about all these? Fiona, go check your dress,” Mrs Bakers said pretending that Ivana’s dress wasn’t ruined.
“But mom, sister’s dress…” Fiona said as she bit her lower lips.
“No need,” Ivanna interrupted her as she raised her dress and flipped it, and all the drink seemed to vanish. No one could tell that a glass of wine had landed on her dress.
This made people amazed and looked at her dress wondering where she had bought it.
She then looked at Fiona in a provocative glance as a way to tell her that all her plots were useless against her. This made Fiona infuriated.
“Ivanna, you should go get some rest as Fiona changes her dress while also applying medicine on your ankle before it gets worse,” Mr Baker said as he looked at Ivanna.
“Okay Dad,” she said with a smile as she walked towards the stairs as the rooms were associated with the hall.
That was the reason the two men were able to get into the hall and join the party.
As Ivanna neared the room which she was told was booked for her by Fiona, she heard men’s voice coming from it.
“The boss has said that the woman will be here soon. Let’s get ready,” she heard and she smirked understanding what Fiona was trying to do. Ruining her reputation in front of the upper circle of the city.
However, just as she was about to think of her next step, the door was opened and one of the men came out of the room and looked at her when he saw her standing in front of the door making her panic.
She entered the next room and the man understood what was going on.
“Aaah, she ran away,” the man screamed informing his partners who immediately ran out of the room.
Knowing that the room that Ivanna had gotten in didn’t have anyone at the moment, they opened in and walked in.
Ivana panicked and she ran to the balcony. After scanning around, she jumped down landing on the balcony that was below hers. After a few moments, she reached down.
“I have seen her. She is escaping. Quick,” one of the men said as he walked out of the room.
Ivanna was panicked and understood that if she ran on the roadside, they would see her, thus after running a few minutes and saw a dark alley, she went in that direction and hid behind a garbage bin.
“Where did that woman go?” the men asked as they passed but didn’t see her.
They ran around looking everywhere but they didn’t find her as where Ivanna was hiding was dark due to the garbage bin blocking the light.
“Aaah, maybe she went that way!” another said and they left.
After making sure that they were gone, Ivanna sighed in relief and walked deeper into the alley.
When she reached a corner, she saw two groups of people fighting frightening her. She started walking backward as she didn’t want to be seen by them afraid of what would happen to her when they saw her.
Unfortunately, the heavens weren’t on her side. It was as if it was punishing her for using it in lying at the party as she ended up knocking down some bottles that were on the ground making those who were fighting halt and look at her direction.
“I am sorry, I will be leaving,” she said as she turned around to run away but in a second, two men had reached her side and then in front of her blocking her way.
“Where do you think you are going beautiful?” the one at the front said as he licked his lips.
“Here, are you looking down at us? We are in a fight but you go disturbing the young lady?” the one beside her said in a displeased tone as he looked at the man who had spoken.
“Who do you think…” Before the man got a chance to complete his sentence the guy rushed forward and attacked her.
Now, Ivanna was shocked when she realized that behind her and at the front, men were fighting each other. And on the other side, some hooligans were looking for her.
She panicked as she wondered what she should do.
At the same minute, her arm was grabbed and she was dragged to the side.
“Please don’t kill me!” she said as she choked crying not believing that she was going to die just once after her reborn.
“Why should I not kill you?” a cold voice asked above her.
“I…I, my family won’t let you go if you do! They will revenge my death,” she said hurriedly causing the man to chuckle.
“Who? The Bakers? They are just small ants whom I can crush in a second without looking,” he said coldly causing Ivanna to feel a cold shiver running down her spine.
If one looked closely, one could discover that the man was the cold guy who had invaded the birthday party. The man who had rescued Ivanna a few minutes ago was the jovial guy beside him.
“So princess, tell me why I shouldn’t kill you,” the one asked once more at her ear. This made Ivanna more afraid as she was troubled about what to do.
“That’s not my family! I am talking about the Barnes! Do you think that they will let you go after killing me? So naïve,” she sneered as she didn’t believe that the man’s power was stronger than her godmother's and in the process forgetting that her life was at stake.
