Chapter 19

“Oh, what a pleasure that you want to talk to me, Aunt,” Floyd said sarcastically, making Abby roll her eyes.

“Take care of her till her brother arrives. If anything happens to her when we are away, you will regret it,” Abby said coldly, making Floyd chuckle.

“You know I don’t take orders from anyone, right?” Floyd said coldly, as he hated being told what to do and what he shouldn’t do.

“If you do, I will convince your parents and grandfather to cancel your engagement. I heard that you have been trying to do that for years, and you have never succeeded, right?” Abby said, causing Floyd to grit his teeth as he knew that what she had said was right, and she could be of great help to him.

He turned to look at Ivanna, who was looking outside and sighed, as he was confused about what to do. He knew what to do, and he really needed Abby’s help.

“I am busy so hurry up and tell me your answer,” Abby said impatiently as she wanted to hang up and call her son and tell him about Ivanna.

“As long as you don’t say that she needs to live with me,” Floyd said, making Ivanna stare at him as if she had seen a ghost.

“Who wants to live with you? You are crazy! I don’t even need you to look after me as my cousins are around!” Ivanna said that she wanted to stay away from Floyd and if she was left to be with Floyd or him being her guardian, she was afraid that there might be something awful that would happen along the way, and she mostly needed her space and freedom.

Abby sighed after hearing her words and hunged up, not insisting on getting them close, as she had known Ivanna could do anything to get whatever she wanted.

“Did you have to ruin that deal for me?” Floyd asked coldly, while Ivanna glared at him as if threatening him and asking what he could do.

Floyd glared at her because he didn’t like her behavior and attitude at all. At the same time, he wondered why she seemed to have changed and not what her reports reported. This was what made him so curious about her and tolerate her to the point that he didn’t mind being in the same car as her when he hated women’s company.

“Thank you, uncle,” Ivanna said to the driver when she saw that the car had arrived at the hotel as she opened the car door to get out.

After alighting, she looked at Floyd and said, “Thank you grandpa” before shutting the door with a loud bang and running away as she laughed because she relived seeing his angry face.

Floyd’s face was still dark as he looked at her running, wishing he could just follow her and go punish her for her words, but he understood that he couldn’t do that as they weren’t even close, and it would be bad for his image, of he was so sure that they were, are some paparrazzis after him to take pictures on what he had been up to in the company.

“Dave, did you find out what Aunt Abby was here for?”  Floyd asked his personal assistant who was seated in the passenger seat.

“Sir, I am quite shocked, she was here to open another branch of their shop. I just checked and saw that the shop’s name is written under Ivanna’s name,” the assistant said after hesistating for a while.

Floyd raised his eyebrows, if he didn’t really believe it.

“The news said that old Mrs Barnes gave it to her for her eighteenth birthday yesterday. I am so sure that the little girl doesn’t know, as from fifth young master Barnes, Ivanna was so tired yesterday and she didn’t open her gifts. They were just kept in her hotel room so that she can look at her gifts when she got the time,” the assistant said, surprising Floyd, as he had not known that Ivanna was so valued by that family.

Even when they were defending her in front of him, he had thought that they were just playing as they didn’t want an outsider to know about their family, but now, it seemed that they weren’t acting but were honest.

“Sir, yesterday, the country and the world in general was stirred by Ivanna,” the assistant said, attracting Floyd’s attention as he was staring at the direction which Ivanna had run in.

“What did she do?” Floyd asked coldly, but in his tone, a hint of amusement and curiosity was heard making his assistant mark on his head that he should pay attention to the new Barnes group.

“Abby opened an account for her yesterday. She is the new ambassador of the Barnes Group. They released photos of Ivanna wearing the latest outfits made by the group. At night, they posted her wishing her a happy birthday. The Barnes Group announced the opening of the Joy Organisation, which will be helping orphans, people in the countryside and lost children reunite their families. As the founder of the group, Ivanna, gave out a hundred million, which made people shocked and they started suspecting her identity. However, they said that the founder was Ivanna Barnes, not Ivanna Bakers.  The bakers also chipped in and deposited a lot of money. Currently, that organisation is the leading organization as it has more than a billion dollars.

“In the morning, they announced that Ivanna Barnes was Barnes' only daughter and Old Mr Barnes had given her ten percent of the shares. Mr Ross also gave her ten percent shares of the Ross Group. Currently, she is the richest young lady in the country. Most people had already found out that the two families were in the city and guessed that they knew about the lady, and you had also attended her birthday. However, there is a problem sir,” the assistant said, as he was even afraid of meeting his boss’s eyes.

“What is it?” Floyd asked coldly with a frown.

“They are asking why, when people donated to the organization, you didn’t, and you were present for the birthday. Your grandfather also called, he wants to know why you didn’t tell him that the Ross Family had a granddaughter so that he could attend to her. Miss Ivanna just replied to the comments of the netizens that you look down on her as you are richer than her and that you promised that you would donate ten billion dollars when she starts her own business and becomes successful.”
