Chapter 15
“Sister, sorry I shouldn’t have told them what I saw,” Fiona said as she panicked and an apologetic tone as she stole glances on Ivanna who had already turned to her as she wondered what she was playing at.
“And what did my dear sister see?” Ivanna asked as she chuckled coldly, making Fiona afraid of even speaking. However, when she remembers that she is the rightful Miss Baker, she gets her confidence back as she doesn’t believe that Ivanna has a reason to continue being arrogant.
“I saw some men in your room,” Fiona said with her head lowered.
“Oh, so they believe just your words, What you say without any evidence yet when I speak no one believes me, huh?” Ivanna said with a chuckle as she looked at the three people who were seated down.
When they heard her words and caught her eyes, they averted hurriedly feeling guilty as they remembered that since Ivanna was a kid, they never trusted her. Even when she told them anything, they would first ask her friends or classmates before believing it as she had been a mischievous child since she was a little kid.
“Can you stop it? There is a big difference between you and Fiona. How can you compare yourself with her?” Mrs Bakers asked angrily while Ivanna just nodded her head.
“Yeah, you are right. There is a big difference. After all, she is your child, biological while I am just a child whom you raise but now you just regard her as an imposter, right? That’s why you believe her words but you don’t believe mine. I now understand everything. Since I was a child, none of you ever believed me but you believed Fred and now you just believe what Fiona says without thinking twice or asking for a shred of evidence. Was it because I am not biologically related to you that never trusted me,” Ivanna asked as tears were in her eyes threatening to escape.
“You!” Mrs Bakers was made speechless and didn’t know what to answer. Not only her but all members of that family were shocked and felt guilty. They knew that they shouldn’t have believed what Fiona said without having evidence but still, they refused to believe that the latter could lie about such a thing. After all, why should she lie and she wasn’t going to get anything from it?
Ivanna mocked herself when she saw their faces as she knew that even after what she had said, they still didn’t believe her. She felt hurt but the hurt wasn’t so painful at all. Fiona on the other side saw her family’s actions and was very pleased with it.
“Sister, I didn’t lie. I am speaking the truth. There were many men in your room,” Fiona said causing Ivanna to glare at her coldly.
“Why do you keep trying to tarnish my image and reputation? You came back, and I gave you everything you wanted. Why do you still keep on trying to ruin e? It isn’t that I don’t understand what your plans were yesterday,” She said as she shook her head but just whispered on Fiona the last sentence making her tense.
“Anyways, I am not surprised to see how loving and supporting each other you guys are. I am just an outsider,” Ivanna said.
“I will prove my innocence and both of you should apologize to me for your words and slander,” Ivanna said coldly as she looked at both Mrs Bakers and Fiona.
Fiona was stunned before she started panicking as she wondered whether Ivanna had evidence that she didn’t do that. Although she knew that she was lying, she had told those men to stay in her room as she didn’t believe that Ivanna would go back there to rest. Thus she was so sure that Ivanna must have done something if she really slept there.
“What, none of you are willing to apologize to me? Dad, why don’t you tell me that? If they aren’t then they should be ready to go to jail in case I will sue the two of you,” Ivanna sneered when she saw that no one was talking.
“Ivanna! You are just an ungrateful wrench! We took care of you but you on the other side, want to take me to jail!” Mrs Bakers shouted as she pointed fingers at Ivanna who pretended not to see them.
“Just because you took care of me you think that you should treat me like this?” Ivanna said as she didn’t understand the meaning of a parents’ love. She always thought that her parents were just too busy to find time for her but since Fiona joined her, she had been proved wrong and understood that she was the one who wasn’t needed at all. She wasn’t loved.
“Well, why don’t you tell me!” Ivanna said as she pretended not to hear her words but looked at Fiona.
“If This case goes to court, I am sure that if there were such men, the police would start their investigation and they might…”
“I agree, I will apologize to you,” Fiona said as she gritted her teeth thinking that there was no way Ivanna could escape this even though they bet, there wouldn’t be able difference.
Ivanna smiled as she looked at her knowing what the latter was thinking about but she was just too lazy to think much or talk.
She looked at Mrs Bakers as she waited for her answer.
“Just tell the girl yes. If it is not true, there is no harm in apologizing for the mistake you have made,” Mr Baker said as he wanted everything to be sorted as soon as possible so that he could go to the office.
“Me? Why should I apologize to her? I am her mother, how can I ask forgiveness from her?” Mrs Bakers said angrily.
“Just do as she says. You are all wasting a lot of time which I don’t have,” Mr Baker said coldly as he wondered why his wife was like that and not the understanding wife and mother she was when it came to Fiona.
“Fine!” she said as he glared at Ivanna.
“Which hotel room was it?” Ivanna said as she unlocked her phone and started scrolling.
“Why?” Fiona said.
“I want to call the hotel reception so that they can tell us whether that room was mine or not as I suspect that it wasn’t mine!” Ivanna replied her.
