Chapter 12

Ivana looked at her godmother and pouted. However, she didn’t dare act overly spoilt more than she had as she was still afraid that they might get tired of her and then the big piece of pie would fall on Fiona.

“You arranged a room for me in this hotel, right?” she asked instead making Abby nod her head.

Although she was confused as to why she was asking that, she still replied to her..

“Then can you please help me get rid of the room under my name that was booked by the Bakers? Let the one you booked show my name,” Ivanna continued whispering to her mother as she was afraid that the others might hate her or feel she was ungrateful since the Bakers had taken care of her since she was a grown up.

“Okay,” Abby said as she repected the child’s wish. Also, from what she had seen previously, she knew that Ivanna wasn’t valued in that family and the fact that she had met with Floyd outside instead of being at the party even after she had been escorted even to the hall’s door by the bodyguards’ shown there was something wrong.

However, she didn’t dare ask her but let her do what she wanted as with her as her backer, nothing could happen to her.

At the Baker’s party, Fiona was frustrated when she was informed that Ivanna ran away and they couldn’t find her. She culdn’t understand why the latter would only ruin her plans everytime she almost succeeded. But she swore to ruin Ivanna since she had ruined her party and made her make a fool out of herself due to jealousy and she vowed that she would make Ivanna pay by shedding of the last dignity in front of everyone without even using any man to ruin her.

“Why isn’t your sister back yet?” Mr Bakers said feeling that tehre was sometjing wrong.

Although he had feelings for Fiona his biological child, he had taken care of Ivanna and saw her growing up. Althuogh she was always unruly, he as her father knew her best thus when she still had not returned, he started panicking as he wondered whether something had happened to her.

“I don’t know but some of my friends told me that they saw her leaving,” Fiona said with her head lowered but after hearing that, the Bakers couple were angry.

“Why did she leave? Does she think that we have all the time? First, she dares to come late but after showing up, she suddenly leaves?” Mrs Bakers said angrily but she still tried to surpress her anger as they were in front of the guests and she didn’t want them to think that there were some problems going on in her family when she had always felt proud of her children.

“Since she wants to leave then let her be!” Mr Baker said angrily while Fiona lowered her head so as no one could see the smile on her face.

She felt proud that even though her plans had not succeeded and Ivanna had escaped, she still managed to get their father angry at her while he seldoms does that.

“Its all my fault. I heard some people saying that she left because she was angry with how the party was conducted. I first came to the house and took her position, then the party that was supposed to be hers together wth the gown became mine. Now, some are saying that she was displeased when she saw that I was meant to be the centre of attention while it should be her since it was her birthday. I never knew that. If I knew, I would have just stayed at home and laid of bed or even do house chores as I always did in the past during my birthdays,” Fiona said as she shed tears.

At first while they listened to her, Mr Bakers started feeling that they had indeed wronged Ivanna since the two shared their birthday and they should have celebrated it together but after hearing Fiona’s words, he felt annoyed and felt that Ivanna was just petty and undreasonable and vowed to punish her as soon as they get back home and let her understand that she wasn’t the only girl in the family anymore.

“Don’t let that witch ruin your happy day my dear. Wie your tears and let usgo and cut the cake,” Mrs Bakers said as she walked towards Fiona who was standing opposite her.

Fiona looked at her mother innocently before nodding her head and standing up walking to the table where the cake was.

After everyone started singing happy borthdaya nd cutting the cake, the family and friends started giving her gifts.

“Its already late. Lets go home now,” Mr Baker said as he had never been one to spend the night out f the house other than he was overseas doing business.

However, when they arrived home, they didn’t find Ivanna in her room.

“Just let her be. She isn’ta child anymore dad. Maybe she even fell asleep in her hotel room that had been booked for her to rest,” Young master Baker said before turninga round to leave as he felt his family was too much with how they were treating the two girls.

To him, they were both his sisters and he would always treat them equally but he now understood that it was completely a different case when it came to their parents.

Mr Bakers didn’t say anything else as he agreed to his words and instructed the mother and daughter to go and sleep and they meet up tomorrow.

With no other choice, Fiona frowned displeased with her father’s actions but before they walked into their rooms, she said, “Byt brother, before coing here, I had gone to sister’s room to see whether she was tehre and we can come back home with her but I didn’t see her. I am really worried of what will happen to her out there.”
