Seven gunshots echoed, and the entire place fell silent. The events unfolded too suddenly, catching everyone off guard. After a moment, the situation took a dramatic turn.
Whether it was the workers or the lackeys of the Skeleton Gang, they were still in a daze. They obviously hadn't recovered from the unexpected turn of events.
Especially the guys from the Skeleton Gang. With their leader shot down, they became visibly flustered, clearly at a loss for what to do.
However, six individuals were completely different. After Chapter Chief fell, four of them immediately reached for their guns, while the other two raised clubs and charged towards Li Wei.
But their movements were no match for Li Wei's speed.
Prepared in advance, Li Wei, after emptying a magazine, stepped over Chapter Chief's corpse. With nimble hands, he quickly ejected the empty magazine, instantly replaced it with a prepared one, and aimed the gun at the four gang members.
When heroes meet on a narrow path, the bravest prevails. In a gunfight, it's a matter of who stays calm, who is more stable, and who is faster! Dancing on the line between life and death is about being calm, stable, and fast!
When Li Wei completed his aim, the four gunmen were just pulling their guns from their waists. The pistol fired continuously, and two gunmen didn't even have time to aim before getting headshots. The other two managed to shoot at Li Wei, who was steadily advancing.
However, their skills were evidently mediocre. In their haste, the gunmen, who already had subpar accuracy, had one bullet go astray, and another grazed Li Wei's arm.
Li Wei's pace remained unwavering. Step by step, he walked forward, his steady hands continuously pulling the trigger. The remaining two gunmen were also done for.
Four bullets dealt with four, leaving two more in front of him.
The two guys swinging clubs had already rushed close, but for Li Wei, they were just larger targets to aim at.
In an instant, two bullets entered the chests of these two assailants.
With everyone scattering, Li Wei, who had emerged, fired thirteen shots. Chapter Chief lay dead, and the six subordinates who dared to resist were all shot and fell, directly crushing the morale of the Skeleton Gang members.
As for the workers, they finally reacted. Even if they were naive, they could tell that the unknown person who had appeared and gone on a killing spree was on their side.
A sturdy man among the workers raised the shovel in his hand and shouted, "Let's kill these gangsters!"
Boosted by morale, the workers began chasing the remaining Skeleton Gang members. The bewildered thugs had no courage to fight back and fled with heads in their hands.
At this moment, nobody paid attention to Li Wei. Even the workers were quite fearful of him, as if he were a grim reaper.
However, Li Wei wouldn't relax at this point. He wouldn't forget that his opponent was a genuine vampire.
In the opening move, almost like a surprise attack, he shot seven Light Rune Bullets into Zhang Xi— or rather, Kostov's body. Although Light Rune Bullets carrying superhuman energy with a light attribute had a strong restraining effect on dark creatures like vampires, he still lacked experience in fighting against such creatures.
For an ordinary person, being hit like this would undoubtedly result in certain death, but Li Wei wasn't sure if it could kill a vampire.
With only one bullet left in the pistol, Li Wei raised it without hesitation and fired at the seemingly lifeless vampire on the ground.
Whether he was dead or not, shooting another round wouldn't hurt.
However, this shot missed.
The supposedly deceased Zhang Xi rolled abruptly on the ground, agilely evading Li Wei's shot. Then, he sprung up from the ground and charged towards Li Wei at an astonishing speed!
Li Wei noticed that the guy's eyes had turned blood-red, and behind the black shirt, a pair of large bat wings emerged.
"Damn, he's not dead!" Li Wei cursed. The vampire's speed was unbelievably fast. With the help of the Sharingan, Li Wei could see the opponent's movements clearly, but his body's agility might not keep up.
At the vampire's speed, Li Wei didn't have the chance to reload. He decisively dropped the pistol and, with the other hand gripping the hilt of the dagger at his waist, he swiftly pulled out the short knife and slashed towards the vampire's head!
White wind blades flashed on the short knife. This was a new skill obtained when unlocking the Book of Myriad Arts last time, Steel-Cutting Flash!
The knife, carrying the power of the wind, collided with the vampire's long claws, producing a "clang" sound.
A tremendous force hit Li Wei, and his expression changed. The vampire's strength was terrifying!
In a direct clash, he was pushed back four or five steps before stabilizing his posture.
Zhang Xi didn't pursue further. Not because he didn't want to, but because he couldn't.
Steel-Cutting Flash wasn't so easy to deal with.
Perhaps Li Wei's physical strength was indeed not high, far inferior to the vampire in terms of power. But at the moment when the wind power on the short knife clashed with the vampire's claws, it cut numerous wounds on Zhang Xi's hands.
The two stood facing each other, both wary.
After a while, the vampire's hoarse voice sounded, "Hunter?"
Li Wei didn't answer. He rotated the hand holding the knife, easing the numbness. Supernatural beings were indeed powerful; his physical strength was far inferior to the opponent's.
Unable to hear Li Wei's reply, Zhang Xi snorted and continued, "Cunning and deceitful, truly the style of a hunter. However, a rookie who hasn't even completed extreme training, relying on surprise attacks and an extraordinary weapon, thinks he can defeat me? Too naive!"
The vampire's tone was displeased. If he hadn't been caught off guard, wounded by seven Light Rune Bullets, he would have had an eighty percent chance of tearing this young man in front of him to pieces.
Despite appearing capable now, the damage from the seven Light Rune Bullets was significant. He was only a lower-level vampire, and his strength hadn't reached the point where he could ignore bullets with superhuman powers.
However, even if he was seriously injured, he still believed he would be the victorious one.
In the recent clash, he sensed Li Wei's true strength, confirming that he wasn't some experienced monster hunter. He also didn't mistake Li Wei's red eye, which only had the rotating jade, for an Element— if it were an Elemental powerhouse, he would probably have been instantly killed by a single strike.
Although he couldn't figure out what was going on with those eyes, he believed that the wind power emitted from Li Wei's knife was due to the weapon itself.
Li Wei, of course, wouldn't explain anything to him. He observed the seven crimson-stained wounds on Zhang Xi's forehead and body, emitting some white smoke, realizing that the seven bullets from before had indeed produced a good effect. The vampire was obviously seriously injured and had reservations about facing him.
In any case, the upcoming battle was going to be a fierce one.
He gripped the hilt of the knife with both hands, preparing for the fight.
