Kechou's throat trembled, showing signs of nervousness. However, one couldn't blame him; anyone with a gun pointed at the back of their head would be extremely tense. Unfortunately for him, he was just here to collect rent on schedule, relying on renting out the house left by his parents to make a living. Facing the gun-wielding intruder, Kechou thought he was merely dealing with another routine rent collection.
Little did he expect that as soon as he stepped onto the floor, a gun was pressed against the back of his head. Looking at the three skull heads arranged in a triangular pattern tattooed on the arm holding the gun, Kechou recognized the assailant—it was a member of the notorious Skeleton Gang in this neighborhood.
Moreover, this wasn't just an ordinary Skeleton Gang member. Having been in this area for quite a while, Kechou knew that those with the triangular arrangement of three skull heads were core figures, usually high-level enforcers.
Cursing his tenant Li Wei in his mind, Kechou wondered why he had to provoke the crazy members of the Skeleton Gang. Kechou never liked bounty hunters, especially those who brought trouble home. He remembered last year, three bounty hunters died in his house, all due to vendettas or conflicts of interest.
Those bounty hunters were really...
Not only did they bring trouble upon themselves, but now they also involved him in their mess.
Kechou even maliciously thought that the Skeleton Gang should quickly shoot Li Wei and end the matter. He swore he would never rent his house to bounty hunters who easily stirred up trouble.
Just as he was contemplating these thoughts, the door creaked open.
With a forceful push, Kechou felt a strong impact on his shoulder as he was shoved aside by the Skeleton Gang gunman behind him. In the next moment, lying on the floor, he heard three gunshots—bang, bang, bang!
He looked towards the door, expecting to see Li Wei lying in a pool of blood. However, there was nothing behind the door.
He was stunned, and so was the gunman.
From the dark shadows behind the door, a pale arm suddenly extended, grabbing the hand of the gunman holding the pistol.
The gunman, surprised, instinctively squeezed the trigger, and bullets sprayed in all directions. Kechou screamed as he felt a sudden pain in his thigh—a stray bullet had hit him.
But nobody paid him any attention.
Despite the gunman pulling the trigger while his wrist was controlled, none of the bullets hit Li Wei standing in front of the door.
Following that, Kechou witnessed a flash of white light. In the next moment, the screaming Skeleton Gang member, still holding the gun, had his arm directly severed by Li Wei's swift and agile movement.
The bald gunman screamed in pain, and with a cold expression, Li Wei took another step forward, grabbing the man by his collar and yanking him into the room.
Afterward, Li Wei stared at Kechou, who was holding his bleeding thigh.
Without waiting for Li Wei to speak, Kechou stammered, "Bi... big bro, I didn't see anything today. The leg injury was caused by me playing with a gun accidentally!"
Li Wei chuckled. "Stay here and don't leave until I say so. Got it?"
"Y-yes, yes..."
"Good." Li Wei patted his head like one would comfort a puppy, then closed the door.
He wasn't worried that his landlord would run away. Given the timid nature of that guy, he probably wouldn't dare to move an inch without Li Wei's order.
Right now, Li Wei was more concerned about the Skeleton Gang member who was dragged into the room earlier, screaming with a severed arm.
Li Wei recognized him—Bald Hu Wei, a notorious figure in the Seventeenth Block. He used to roam the streets collecting protection money and gained a reputation for his ruthless tactics. Somehow, he had joined the Skeleton Gang and become a core enforcer.
In Wisdom City, guns weren't easy to come by, at least not for ordinary people. Hu Wei obviously recognized Li Wei.
"Li Wei, don't get too smug!" Hu Wei, pale from blood loss, retorted, "You're just an ordinary bounty hunter who can't even unlock gene locks. Do you know whom you've offended? Today, you dared to cut off my hand. Let me tell you, your life is forfeit!"
Li Wei lightly uttered, "I sense you haven't grasped the current situation."
Hu Wei's hand trembled, and his face turned even paler. Despite losing blood, his teeth clenched as he stubbornly refused to believe Li Wei's words.
Li Wei knew that, although Hu Wei might not be saying anything, he was already afraid. With a faint smile, Li Wei decided to personally test a torture method he had mentioned earlier—something that existed only in ancient times, even before the apocalypse.
In addition, he would add a bit of "spice."
Using the Genjutsu of the Sharingan, Li Wei was quite skilled now. While directly controlling a person's thoughts might be difficult, providing some psychological hints to enhance the pain was simple.
