Chapter 492: How to Soothe Your Boyfriend
"You're willing?"
Nathaniel's voice was gentle, but his eyes were bright.
His reaction clearly pleased Zoey.
She breathed softly near his ear, "Tonight, I'm yours."
Ever since she came back to the country for Daniel, she'd been keeping herself pure for him, and honestly, she'd been pretty frustrated. Now, she felt there was no need to hold back anymore.
Some people, while getting their foreign credentials abroad without anyone watching over them, just let themselves go wild.
Then once they return home, they suddenly transform back into so-called good girls, and they're really good at pretending.
So the two of them, as if half-reluctant, left the party.
At this time, people were already starting to leave, so they didn't attract too much attention.
Of course, that didn't include Daniel and Emily.
They noticed the two leaving together.
Emily could tell from Zoey's flirtatious manner that something might happen between them.
"Although Nathaniel willingly chose this path, who knows if Zoey is clean or not. I wonder if he'll use the medicine I gave him?"
That's right, out of kindness, Emily was worried that Nathaniel might have to deal with Zoey, so she gave him a drug that would make Zoey fall asleep easily if he used it on her.
This gave Nathaniel a choice.
"Since you've already thought it through for him and gave him the medicine, whether he uses it or not is his choice. Since he made his own decision, whatever the result, he has to bear it."
Of course, that included his initial choice to become Zoey's fiancé.
"I hope he didn't choose wrong. Zoey isn't worthy of him at all."
Emily nodded, feeling much less burdened, and said a few words with some emotion.
Daniel suddenly cupped Emily's chin, lifting it so she could look at him as much as possible.
"Emily, you're praising another man in front of your own boyfriend right now. Aren't you afraid your boyfriend will get jealous?"
Daniel's magnetic, deep voice rang out.
Emily felt that just hearing him say the word "girlfriend" made her whole body tingle.
She pretended to be troubled, "Then what should I do?"
"Naturally, you need to coax him. Your boyfriend is very easy to coax."
Daniel had evolved!
He was getting better and better at flirting now.
And so direct about it.
This was thanks to York somehow finding books like "How to Coax Your Girlfriend," "Complete Guide to Chasing Girls," and "Master of Sweet Talk" recently.
He complained about them while actually reading them all.
Emily was surprised for a moment too.
But her ears still turned red despite herself.
She suddenly met Daniel's gaze, and on impulse, she stood on her tiptoes and gave Daniel a light kiss on the cheek, then quickly pulled back.
"Is this how I coax you? Is my boyfriend satisfied now?"
Emily's eyes curved into crescents as she smiled.
Daniel's brows naturally relaxed, and his whole being radiated a gentle aura. "Not bad. If you could do it a couple more times, that would be even better."
Emily playfully swatted Daniel's arm, "Nice try! If you're too greedy, you might end up with nothing!"
"Yes, yes, yes, I should be content. Emily has made great progress!"
Daniel's smile deepened as he replied indulgently.
James was staring intently in their direction.
Who knows if he saw that scene just now.
Emily noticed James's gaze this time. To avoid arousing his suspicion, she quickly tried to step back and create some distance from Daniel. "We can't let James figure it out. He's watching right now!"
But the next moment, Daniel didn't give her the chance.
Instead, he shifted his body slightly, his broad chest enough to shield Emily completely, even enveloping her, blocking James's view.
"Even though it's a plan, you don't have to compromise yourself in everything. I've got this! Besides, with James's arrogant personality, he won't suspect anything."
Daniel said in a low voice near Emily's ear.
Thinking about James's personality, Emily realized he was right.
However, seeing that some people around them were starting to leave, Emily suggested, "It's getting late. We should leave first. You leave first, and I'll wait for James at the back door."
Thinking about Emily still having to face James, Daniel suddenly frowned and hesitated. "How about I handle the rest, and you don't have to deal with James?"
Emily could actually feel Daniel's reluctance to let her be wronged. She smiled, "I won't really let myself be wronged. Since things have come this far, this is the fastest way. We need to finish dealing with this quickly. I want to go to Emerald City, and then I won't be able to focus on things here."
So this time, they needed to settle everything once and for all.
Daniel understood what she meant.
"Then be careful. Remember to wear the necklace I gave you."
"Okay!"
Emily followed Daniel outside.
James naturally saw the two leaving. His eyes grew darker, and he also headed out.
But he went in the direction of the villa's back door.
As he walked, he made a phone call. "Is the information I asked you to prepare ready? Drive to the back door and wait."
Soon, his assistant's voice came through the phone. "Mr. Smith, don't worry, I'm already waiting at the back door."
Only then did James happily head to the back door.
Since they hadn't expected guests to use the back door, the closer he got to it, the dimmer the lighting became.
He didn't notice at all that several people were following him from behind.
Then suddenly, someone threw a sack over him.
Immediately after, fists rained down on him like hail.
"It hurts! Who is it? Who are you?... Do you know who I am? You can't afford the consequences of offending me. Stop it... It hurts so much, stop!"
James never expected that in this day and age, someone would still use such primitive methods.
He screamed while trying to threaten them.
But the people beating him seemed not to hear his words and continued hitting him.
And they hit all the most painful spots without being fatal—clearly professionals.
Seeing that they weren't interested in his identity, James figured they must have a higher status than him.
His mind turned, and he guessed it might be Daniel.
Could Zoey's guess have been right?
Did Emily really do something stupid and tell Daniel about his threats? She overestimated how much men care about such things!
No wonder Emily didn't seem affected by his threats earlier and could still be so sweet and affectionate with Daniel.
"Who sent you? Was it Daniel? Do you know I'm James, Daniel's relative?"
James couldn't bear the pain anymore and spoke tentatively.
Sure enough, there was a brief pause because of this statement.
James thought he'd guessed right and spoke again, "Looks like you didn't know. Now that you do, you should let me go. Just make your point and stop. After all, we're family. A woman has him temporarily angry, but do you know that woman...!"
Before he could finish, another punch came.
This time, the fists were even more fierce.
