Chapter 465: Teasing Her, Becoming More Skillful

Chapter 465: Teasing Her, Becoming More Skillful

"Emily, slow down. You look like something's chasing you."

Seeing Emily running so fast, Violette quickly reminded her with concern. Then noticing no one behind Emily, she asked curiously, "By the way, why are you alone? I remember Daniel went upstairs to find you?"

Based on Daniel's recent visits to Emily and their intimate behavior, Violette, being experienced in these matters, could tell they were probably together now.

That's why she didn't stop him from going upstairs this time.

Emily's face flushed red again, showing a rare girlish shyness. "Who cares about him? Anyway, I need to go to the Johnson Group today. I'm running out of time."

To prevent Violette from asking more questions, Emily hurriedly grabbed a sandwich from the table, took a few sips of milk, and headed out.

York was already waiting in the driver's seat outside.

Emily figured he was probably waiting for Daniel too, so she thought about not taking this car today.

But York had already gotten out and opened the car door.

"Ms. Johnson, please get in."

There was no avoiding it now.

She reluctantly got in.

Daniel was quick too, arriving right after.

Emily pretended not to see him, turning her head to deliberately look at the scenery outside the window, ignoring him.

Daniel knew she was embarrassed and didn't tease her further.

However, when the car stopped at the Johnson Group's main entrance and Emily was eager to get out, Daniel reached out with his long arm and pulled her back.

"What?"

Emily asked coquettishly.

Daniel pointed to his cheek. "Goodbye kiss, for your boyfriend."

Emily's face turned red, and her eyes glanced at York in front.

York had planned to sneak a peek, but when he noticed Emily looking his way, he immediately sat up straight, pretending to look at the scenery outside.

Emily quickly leaned in, planning to give Daniel a quick kiss and leave.

She never expected Daniel would suddenly turn his head.

Her kiss landed right on Daniel's lips.

Whatever.

Seeing how happy he was.

She wouldn't hold it against him. She quickly got out of the car.

However, since Emily had only been to the Johnson Group once before at the board meeting with someone leading the way, people at the company didn't recognize her at all.

So she was stopped downstairs.

"Miss, you can't go in without an ID badge. Who are you looking for?"

The person stopping her was a recently hired receptionist.

Emily raised her eyebrows, quite surprised to be stopped.

"Looking for Mr. Johnson."

Emily didn't want to make things difficult for her and mentioned Eli's position.

The receptionist was amused by Emily's words and looked her up and down with a meaningful expression. "Mr. Johnson? Do you have an appointment? Without an appointment, Mr. Johnson isn't someone just anyone can meet. Some people, young as they are, should work for a living instead of trying to take shortcuts based on their youth and looks."

Emily could understand the professional attitude about needing an appointment, but these words clearly implied she was some woman trying to seduce Eli.

Emily couldn't tolerate this attitude.

She glanced at the name tag on the woman's chest.

"Indigo, right? Is this how you treat every young woman who comes to the company? Your training is inadequate. I'm afraid you're not fit for this position!"

"Who are you to talk so big? Whether I'm fit for this job isn't for you to decide. Did I hit a nerve? Too bad you've got the wrong person. Do you know who my uncle is? My uncle is a shareholder of the company. As if you could just fire people."

Indigo spoke proudly, lifting her head high.

Someone arranged to work as a receptionist, even with connections, probably didn't have much backing.

Her so-called uncle did have shares in the company, but very few.

It was just someone doing him a favor.

Of course, Indigo was willing to work as a receptionist because she knew Aiden often came to the company. As a receptionist, she would be the first to know when he arrived, giving her a chance to get close to him first.

"Your uncle is a shareholder? Got it."

Since Emily had decided to enter the Johnson Group, she naturally did detailed research on it.

These shareholders with small stakes would be key targets when she took power and wanted to acquire shares.

So naturally, she paid attention to them.

Indigo didn't take Emily's words seriously and continued relentlessly, "So what if you know my uncle? You still can't break company rules. Today, without an appointment, you can't go in."

Emily frowned.

She checked the time. There were only ten minutes left before the meeting.

If she kept arguing with this person, she'd probably be late by the time she got upstairs.

On her first day at work, she didn't want to be late.

After thinking, Emily called Aiden first. "Are you at the Johnson Group today? If so, come downstairs to get me. The receptionist won't let me in."

Hearing Emily's bossy attitude on the phone, Indigo scoffed.

"What an act. Who knows what kind of person you can call? With that attitude, whoever you call probably has no real status. Don't expect me to let you through today."

Indigo mocked coldly.

Emily glanced at her indifferently and ignored Indigo.

Being ignored made Indigo furious.

Especially since Emily was much prettier than her. Some women, for some reason, have such hostility toward their own kind.

She deliberately stepped forward. "Get out of here. Don't stand here blocking my work."

As she spoke, she raised her hand to push Emily.

"What are you doing?"

Just then, Aiden, who had rushed downstairs, saw the receptionist getting physical with Emily and scolded coldly.

Because of Emily's position, she happened to block the view of the private elevator, and Indigo's attention was all on Emily, so she really didn't notice Aiden's appearance.

She was scolded and instinctively wanted to snap back, "Who are you... Mr. Johnson!"

But before she could finish cursing, she saw Aiden looking at her with a gloomy expression.

Instantly, Indigo's face looked terrible.

She silently cursed, wondering when Aiden had arrived without her noticing.

It was all this woman's fault. If not for her, Aiden wouldn't have seen her in such an unfavorable moment.

She quickly explained, "Mr. Aiden Johnson, I'm sorry. My approach was a bit off, but this woman was rude first. I just wanted to scare her into leaving so she wouldn't affect the company's image. You don't know how scheming she is. She was trying to seduce Mr. Eli Johnson."

First, she cleared herself of responsibility.

Then she shifted the blame to Emily.

She knew Aiden was Eli's son. If some woman tried to seduce his father, Indigo believed Aiden would definitely be angry.

Emily couldn't help but want to applaud Indigo's performance. "What a way to twist the truth, what a way to use someone else's hand. Too bad you're wrong."

"Stop making excuses. Weren't you just here looking for Mr. Johnson? A young girl, instead of working properly, doing such shameful things."

Indigo was determined to frame Emily anyway.

Seeing Indigo insisting on this, Emily was too lazy to bother with her.

She turned to Aiden and said, "Aiden, the meeting's about to start. Leave this person for HR to handle later. Let's go upstairs first."
