Chapter 30

When I arrived at the company this morning, I noticed the unusual happiness in Alexander's eyes, despite the fact he tired hard to hide it but I knew he was up to something, so I decided to come up with a painful plan to smash him.

" Good morning Boss" Alexander greeted with happiness,

" Morning " I replied walking up to my office before Rachel met me.

" Cassandra, I don't know if you noticed the atmosphere this morning, something is wrong somewhere" Rachel said looking at Alexander suspiciously.

" I noticed that. But don't worry, I will crush that happiness soon, you can leave for now" I said settling down in my office. She walked out, but seeing smile on his face irritates me. He has no right to smile after he did to me, he made me lose my pregnancy twice all because of Lily.

With the final piece of my plan in motion, I called Rachel back to my office. "Rachel, it's time to make the announcement. I want everyone to know that Cross Company will be merging with T-Dollar Exchange Company. The name will be changed from Cross Company to T-Dollar Exchange Company, and this location will serve as the second branch."

Rachel nodded, understanding the gravity of this decision. "I'll get the press release ready right away."

As soon as the announcement was made, the office buzzed with excitement and speculation. The employees gathered in small groups, discussing the implications of the merger. Some were thrilled about the new opportunities, while others were anxious about the changes.

Not long after the announcement, Alexander stormed into my office, his face a mask of fury. "Cassandra, what the hell do you think you're doing? You can't just merge the company and erase everything I've built!"

I leaned back in my chair, calmly meeting his gaze. "I can and I have. You lost the right to dictate anything when you drove this company into the ground."

His eyes blazed with anger, and for a moment, it seemed like he might lose control. "You...you can't do this. This is my company!"

I stood up, my voice cold and unyielding. "Not anymore. And watch your tone, Alexander. You're just a mere assistant now. Remember your place."

He visibly struggled to contain his rage, finally sinking to his knees in desperation. "Please, Cassandra. Don't fire me. I need this job."

I allowed a moment of silence to stretch between us, enjoying the sight of his humility. "Fine. I'll give you your job back. But you will follow my orders without question. Understand?"

He nodded, defeated. "Yes, boss."

"Good. Now, you'll be accompanying me to an important meeting with L&D Enterprise. I expect you to be on your best behavior."

Later that day, we arrived at the headquarters of L&D Enterprise. The sleek, modern building exuded power and success. As we walked through the glass doors, Alexander's face paled. He recognized the place—and the man we were about to meet.

Leonard Davis, the CEO of L&D Enterprise, greeted us in the conference room. He was a tall, imposing figure with a sharp suit and an even sharper gaze. "Welcome, Cassandra. It's a pleasure to see you again. And Alexander...how unexpected."

Alexander swallowed hard, clearly remembering their last encounter. "Mr. Davis."

Leonard's eyes narrowed. "You insulted me the last time we met, Alexander. Called my business practices 'incompetent,' if I recall correctly."

Alexander's face turned crimson. "I...I apologize, Mr. Davis. It was a misunderstanding."

Leonard leaned back in his chair, a cold smile playing on his lips. "Is that so? Well, let's see if you've learned your lesson."

The meeting began, and Leonard wasted no time in making his point. "Cassandra, your company's financials are impressive. The merger with T-Dollar Exchange Company is a smart move. However, I'm concerned about having someone like Alexander in your ranks. His reputation precedes him."

I nodded, maintaining my composure. "I understand your concerns, Leonard. Rest assured, Alexander is no longer in a position to make any significant decisions. He is here purely in an assistant capacity."

Leonard turned his gaze to Alexander, who was visibly shrinking under the scrutiny. "An assistant, you say? How the mighty have fallen."

Alexander flinched but remained silent. I could see the humiliation in his eyes.

"Let's proceed with the partnership discussions," I said, steering the conversation back on track. "We have several proposals that we believe will be mutually beneficial."

The meeting continued, with Leonard occasionally directing a pointed remark at Alexander. Each comment was a reminder of Alexander's diminished status, and I could see the toll it was taking on him.

As we left the building, Alexander's shoulders were slumped, his face drawn with exhaustion and shame. "Cassandra...I mean, boss...I..."

I cut him off, my voice firm. "Don't. You brought this on yourself. From now on, you will do exactly as I say. No more, no less."

He nodded, too broken to argue. "Yes, boss."

As we drove back to the office, I allowed myself a small, satisfied smile. The merger was complete, and Alexander was firmly under my control. The Cross Company was now a part of T-Dollar Exchange Company, and I was ready to take it to new heights. Alexander's humiliation was just the beginning. Now, it was time to rebuild and thrive, ensuring that the legacy of T-Dollar Exchange would overshadow the ruins of Cross Company.

As our car drove into the company's compound, I sent Alexander away with a dismissive wave. He walked off with his head down, a shadow of the man he once was. Watching him retreat, I took a moment to savor the small victory. But this was just the beginning.

Once he was out of sight, I reached for my phone and dialed a number, making sure to keep my voice low and controlled. "Hello, this is an anonymous tip. I have a story that will interest you about Alexander Cross."

The reporter on the other end was intrigued. "Go on."

I smiled wickedly. "Alexander Cross caused his ex-wife to lose her pregnancy twice because of his affair with a woman named Lily, whom he married just a month after the divorce. He abused and humiliated his ex-wife, driving her to the brink. This story needs to be told."

The reporter's voice buzzed with excitement. "This is huge. Can you provide any evidence or additional details?"

"Everything you need is in the public records and court documents. Dig a little, and you'll find the truth."

I ended the call and leaned back in my chair, a wicked smile spreading across my face. This was only the beginning. I was going to destroy the Cross family, piece by piece. I leaned back, I was tired so I revised my car and went home.

I didn't tell Teddy about anything that was going to happen, but I know he will find out soon enough.

The next day, the office was buzzing with the news. I could see employees huddled together, whispering and checking their phones. Rachel walked in, looking concerned. "Have you seen this?" she asked, holding up her phone.

I took the phone and read the headline: **"Ex-Wife of Alexander Cross Speaks Out: Forced Miscarriages, Infidelity, and Abuse."** The article detailed my past with Alexander, painting him in the darkest light possible. The comments section was filled with outrage and support for me.

Rachel looked worried. "This is going to cause a huge scandal."

I nodded. "Good. It's about time the world knew the truth."

Just then, Alexander walked in, looking pale and defeated. He must have seen the news. "Cassandra, we need to talk," he said, his voice shaky.

I smirked. "About what? The fact that your dirty laundry is finally being aired?"

He took a deep breath. "Please, you have to understand—"

I cut him off. "I understand perfectly. You're a monster who thought he could get away with everything. Now, you're paying the price."

He looked around the office, seeing the stares and hearing the whispers. "This isn't fair," he muttered.

"Fair? You want to talk about fair?" I leaned forward, my voice dripping with contempt. "You made me lose two children, Alexander. You ruined my life. This is just the beginning of your payback."

He swallowed hard, looking like he wanted to argue but knowing it would be useless. "What do you want from me?"

"I want you to understand that everything you took from me, I'm going to take back tenfold. Your company, your reputation, your dignity—everything."

He nodded, tears welling up in his eyes. "I... I understand."

"Good," I said, sitting back. "Now get out of my sight. And remember, you're my assistant. Show up on time tomorrow, or don't show up at all."

He left without another word, his shoulders slumped in defeat.

As the news spread, I could see the shift in the company's atmosphere. Employees who had once looked at me with suspicion and judgment now regarded me with respect and sympathy. My reputation, once tarnished by Alexander's lies, was being restored. And with it, the power I had lost was returning.

I called another meeting with the board to discuss the final stages of the merger. The directors were fully on board, impressed by my handling of the situation and the positive public response.

"We're behind you all the way, Cassandra," one of the directors said. "This merger is the best thing for the company."

I nodded. "Thank you. Together, we'll make T-Dollar Exchange stronger than ever."

At home, I poured myself a glass of wine and settled into my favorite chair. Teddy was there, watching me with a mixture of pride and admiration. "You did it," he said. "You really turned things around."

I smiled. "It's not over yet. But we're getting there."

He raised his glass. "To reclaiming what's rightfully yours."

I clinked my glass against his. "And to making sure the Cross family loses everything."

As we sat together, the satisfaction of the day's victories settling in, I knew this was just the beginning. Alexander had tried to destroy me, but now it was my turn. And I wouldn't stop until he had nothing left.
