THE NEXT MORNING

It was 5 am in the morning and I woke up to see that there were five missed calls from Theo, my alleged father. I was confused, but I didn't want to call him back. I kept wondering. Has something happened to my mother? My pulse raced at the thought of that. I couldn't bear to think that anything had happened to her.

Lucian also woke up at the same time. He caught me looking at my phone in worry.

“What's wrong, babe?”

I sighed. “It's my dad. He called me five times this early morning.”

Lucian frowned. “That's weird. What does he want from you?”

I shrugged. I didn't know the answer to that question either. He had thrown me out of his house and I doubted if he was calling me to apologize or anything of that sort. He could never do such a thing.

I was about to set my phone down before another call came through. It was from Theo. I looked at Lucian, unsure if I should pick the call.

Lucian gave me a go ahead signal. “Let's hear what he wants to say.”

I picked the call. The first thing I heard wasn't a good morning greeting or anything of that sort.

“You son of a bitch.” Theo screamed in such a loud voice that I almost lost my ears. I dropped the phone on the bed in a loud speaker so that Lucian could also hear. Lucian had a curious expression on his face and I could tell he wanted to know what was wrong.

Theo's voice came up again. “You've ruined everything you fool. The money I took from the lab is gone. They have told me to refund it. Ethan, you better hide well because if I lay my hands on you, I'd squeeze all the life out of your skin.”

He ended the call without waiting for a response from me.

“Serves him right,” Lucian said after the call was gone. “He thought he could eat his cake and have it.”

I sighed. “I can't believe he called me just to curse me out. That's definitely weird.”

Lucian placed a hand on my shoulder. “Don't worry about it. You shouldn't bother about him. Focus on the academy and why you're here.”

I smiled. Lucian always had his way of comforting me. Deep down, I was happy that the money had been taken away from my father. I wished I could see his facial expression right now. He was possibly furious and pacing around restlessly. Then I thought about my mother. I hoped he didn't transfer his aggression to her or try to attack her in the process of his anger.

I sighed. I just wanted my mother to be safe. I wanted her to leave that brutal man she called a husband. He was a man that couldn't be there for her, even in her difficult time. He was a man who had blamed her for the problems she found herself in. He was a horrible person with disgusting behaviour.

“What's wrong?” Lucian asked as he noticed my facial expression.

“It's my mom. I wish she could just leave my father. I don't want her to suffer anymore. I just…” my voice trailed off and I kept quiet.

Lucian hugged me. “It's going to be fine. I'm pretty sure your mother will find a way out of it soon.”

“I hope so,” I muttered, still feeling unsatisfied. Even though I was happy about my father losing the money, the thought of my mother still being stuck with him made me feel sad.

I took a deep breath. It was still early in the morning. The academy activities were soon going to resume for the day. I didn't know what training we were going to do. I guessed we were going to spar again.

“I got paired with a different alpha. I wish I was paired with you.” I sulked to Lucian.

Lucian rubbed my cheeks. “You don't have to worry. We could always exchange. I could meet the alpha you were paired with and then we exchanged. What do you think about that?”

My eyes lit up. I was excited. “Of course.” I said with a broad smile.

“I was paired with Julian. Do you know him?”

“Definitely. But I don't usually talk to him, but it will definitely be a piece of cake to get him to exchange.”

I smiled. Lucian's words reassured me. To hell with the academy and their arrangements. They were supposed to know that Lucian and I were soul mates and they weren't supposed to separate us for any reason.

We were still naked on the bed. I looked at Lucian's lips. He noticed me looking at his lips and he drew me closer and kissed me.

“Have a great day at the academy. We'd fuck later.” He whispered it to my ears and I blushed at the last part.

I got up from the bed and headed to the bathroom to shower. I was under the shower when I felt someone's hand around my waist. I heard Lucian's voice too. He held me so close to him that I could feel my ass pressing against his cock.

He kissed me on the neck and sucked that particular spot. He held a sponge and began using it to bath me. He hand moved closely against my back. He also scrubbed his own body. When we were done bathing under the shower, we came out of the bathroom with white towels wrapped around my waist.

I wore my clothes and we walked out of the room together. I headed to the training center.

“There he is,” Lucian said as he pointed at an alpha in the hall.

I was confused and I didn't know what he was talking about. Lucian didn't answer my question. He walked to the person he had pointed at and exchanged a handshake with him. I stood there, oblivious of what was happening.

“Julian, I need to ask for a favour from you.” Lucian said.

Upon hearing Lucian call the other guy by his name, I understood what was happening.

Julian raised a brow. “What is it, bro?”

Lucian took a deep breath. “I want an exchange.”
