Mason didn’t hesitate, nodding eagerly.
He barely slowed down, driving the sports car like a racecar.
They arrived at the airport, without taking luggage, their minds focused solely on finding me.
They feared that every second counted.
As dawn broke, their plane took off.
Anxiety gnawed at them.
Meanwhile, I hadn’t slept well either.
I woke up early, getting ready.
Today was my wedding day-my marriage to Zoe Jackson.
Ironically, I’d only met Zoe Jackson a handful of times.
I hadn’t expected him to be fiancé!

His name often came up in conversations with my parents and the family elders.
He was considered one of the most outstanding young men of their generation.
My parents had always spoken of him with great admiration.
My memories of him consisted of a cool, aloof older brother who liked to pinch my cheeks when we were children.
Even if the groom were someone else, I couldn’t help feeling nervous.

“Nervous? Candy helps.”
His gentle gaze, his unwavering expression, calmed me.
I was lost in his tenderness, almost entranced.
My mind was fuzzy; I mechanically unwrapped and ate the candy.
The sweetness seemed to seep into my soul.
This arranged marriage wasn’t so bad, I thought.
Everything felt surreal, like walking on clouds.
I let Zoe Jackson lead me through the process: signing the paperwork, taking photos.
Seeing my stiffness, a smile played on the corner of his lips.
The stamp was applied.
Two bright red marriage certificates were issued.
I felt like I was dreaming.
Then, two distinct voices called my name.
‘Lanie!”
“Lanie!”
Ethan and Mason stood before me, their chests heaving, gasping for breath.
The bright red marriage certificate pierced their eyes.

Their gazes narrowed, settling on that crimson hue.
Ethan’s voice was hoarse, disbelief etched on his face.
“Lanic… you… you’re married?”
They couldn’t believe it, but my hand clasped in Zoe Jackson’s, the wedding rings on our ring fingers, left no room for doubt.
