Chapter 41 Chapter 0041

"Narra," Rafael's voice called behind me in the hallway when I was heading to my room, and I stopped walking.
I kept my head down with my hands clasped in front of my stomach. My heart pounded in my chest, thinking he was about to question me about the things he had heard from my mother.
"The doctor is here, and he's waiting with your mother in the guest room upstairs," he informed me when he reached my side.
"Oh," I breathed, realizing that he meant every word he had said to me before. He didn't want this baby, and I couldn't believe that it hadn't crossed his mind that he was the father.
"Of course, Mr. Sterling," I answered, nodding. "I will get ready right away." I turned to walk away when he grabbed my wrist and held me back.
"Once this procedure is done, there will be no going back," he muttered. "So it will be wise for you to tell me if I am the father of the child."
I looked at him, realizing that he thought the baby was his, but my mind was already made up. He had taken a lot from me, and I would finally take something from him.
"You would've known if the baby was yours, Rafael," I replied, yanking my wrist off his grip. "But you're not the father. Chris was the man I loved and fell pregnant for, but you killed him. So, you might as well kill the child."
His jaw tightened as he leaned toward me until my back was against the wall. For a moment, I thought he would kill me.
My heart raced, and my throat tightened. He hadn't been this close lately, not after he touched me in the kitchen and left me begging for more.
"Do you really think I am a fool, Narra?" He scoffed as his hand slid down to my lower stomach. "Do you think I would've married you without knowing the diseases you carry or if you were pregnant?"
My eyes shot up at him. My eyebrows furrowed, and I swallowed, realizing that he knew all along and wanted to see if I would go ahead with the abortion.
He would force me to have this child, and whatever freedom he promised me if I had his baby would be lost since I lied to him and almost went ahead with a procedure that would be irreversible.
"You probably didn't know this, but your blood was drawn from you before I ever slept with you," he continued. "And I know for a fact that the baby wasn't in the picture then. You know the baby is mine, and I wonder why you thought getting rid of the pregnancy would change anything."
"I will never give birth to this baby for you, Rafael!" I shot back. "You took everything from me. You took all the dreams I had for myself and made them unreachable. I am trapped here without a father and a home because of you! Why would I give you the one thing you need to complete your family when I have nothing?"
"To hell with you, Narra!" he screamed. "I won't let you take my legacy from me. You will birth this baby and give me what's mine, do you understand?!"
"Are you going to force me?" I asked as my voice broke. "Well, I guess you will watch me die with the baby inside this body!"
I hated him and I couldn't even pretend anymore. I didn't care if I had to die just to be free from him.
He pushed me to my limits every time we talked, and I couldn't tolerate whatever came out of his mouth.
"No," he replied as he leaned his head closer to mine. "Which is why you're moving into my room and stopping the house chores. Once you have this baby, you will have your freedom, just as you wished."
I swallowed as his lips hovered over mine. I wanted to push him away, I truly did, but he was tempting. His scent filled my nostrils, and I couldn't step away.
"The doctor is waiting, sir. Is Narra ready?" My mother's voice came from the hallway, and Rafael stepped back from me when he heard her.
"I will send him away," he answered as he looked at me and smirked. "My plan worked, and your daughter has told me the truth. The baby is mine."
Oh, that son of a bitch!
He tricked me, and I fell for it. He made me believe he had blood drawn from me when he brought me to the house, but it was all lies.
"The baby is yours?" My mother asked, almost out of breath. It was as if she couldn't believe it.
"Yes, so you may return home, Emma."
"No one is going anywhere yet!" a familiar voice boomed behind my mother. "Not until Emma Colombo and her daughter Aneira Colombo tell us where Narra is."
Polly came into view with Amari, and my heart stopped.
