Chapter 20

Selene's pov.

Excitement was practiced oozing out of the pores of my skin as Valentine skated back.

I covered my mouth with both hands to keep myself from shouting too much.

He took of the skate shoes and collected his bag smiling widely.

"Oh, my goodness." I clapped.

"The look on Ethan 's face when you caught that pass was priceless." I laughed.

He didn't seem erratic about it, like he was sure of his potential before getting on the rink.

"You were being humble at first, I heard them call you a prodigy." My head motioned to the players.

"You did great Valentine."

"It's Vale." He corrected gently.

"Sorry." I forgot he doesn't like the name

"It's fine, Bradshaw should have introduced me as Vale, so I get why you're confused."

He hung one strap of his bag over a shoulder.

"Is there anywhere else you haven't taken me too?" He changed the subject.

"We've been to practically everywhere, just a few stops and you're good to go."

"Nice, I'm enjoying this tour with you, Selene "

I like the way he stresses the end part of my name. It gives me tingles.

"I'm glad to be a wonderful tour guide." I replied.

I led him to a few more classes just Incase he might have interest in taking a few.

"Owwwwww." I exclaimed in pain as a group of boys roughly bumped into my shoulder

"Watch it, dweeb." Elias Moore laughed.

In life, people have just one arch nemesis, but I have three and in no dominating order.

Ethan Campbell, Becca Flynn, and Elias Moore.

Elias Moore had been down with the flu since the beginning of semester and it was a breeze to me that he was absent.

I didn't feel his absence for one second.

He was my academic rival and he hates my guts for taking class valedictorian and honour student from him, thrice in a row.

"You should watch where you are going Greasely or you'll get your skull cracked." He poked me

"Hey Vale snatched Elias's wrist.

"You should apologize for bumping into her, you and your crazy friends"

"Who's this superman, one of scholarship friends." Elias grinned like a cow.

I don't want Vale getting into trouble because of me on his first day.

Elias is book smart, but he's damn good when it comes to brawling and Vale from what I can tell, is just another soft, rich hockey player

"Vale, he isn't worth it, let him go."

Vale ignored me and tightened his hold on Elias's wrist.

"Apologize to her, now."

I heard the bones in Elias's finger snapping

"Let go of me freak." He yelped in pain.

"Not until you apologize to Selene first." Vale insisted.

Butterflies where dancing in my tummy, he barley knows me and he stood up for me

"Okay man, fuck. I'm sorry Greasely." Elias cried in pain.

His buddies stood powerless to do anything. they were smitten by Vale's courage.

Vale let go of Elias and he scurried away like a scared dog.

"Wow, thank you." I said, I truly meant it.

"It's nothing, you shouldn't let people walk over you like that."

I sucked my bottom lip,

"I'm kind of used to it already, it's no biggie."

"Don't get used to it, it's wrong and totally unacceptable. Where I come from, we don't entertain bullies, especially when the victim is a friend."

My heart skipped a beat, he just called me his friend, like I'm officially his first and only friend for now.

This was super exciting and I don't know why it feels like something superb because I don't freak about friends.

"Then, I'm glad you're here." I said with as much composure I could muster.

Just then, Becca and her group of meanies walked past wearing their cheerleaders outfit.

She paused to give her signature flirty look at Vale who didn't show the least interest.

She hopped over to where we were.

"Hii, you must be new, I've never seen you in Brooklyn high, I would have noticed. My name's Becca Flynn, head of the cheerleading squad of Brooklyn bull dogs, and obviously the hottest girl here." She flashed a seductive smile at him.

"Erm, okayyyyy, Selene , can we continue with our tour of the school please."

I quickly turned to lead the wah so Becca doesn't see the triumphant look on my face.

Holy cow, he just turned down Becca Flynn, that has never happened in the history of Brooklyn high.

He just tramped on Becca's ego.

This new guy will definitely bring some new spark around here.

I stopped in front my class to pick my backpack, it was already end of school hours.

We've practically walked around the entire school.

"I guess I'll be seeing you tomorrow, don't forget, you need anything I'm Just in any of the classes I showed you earlier."

I hope he remembers them and doesn't have difficulty finding me.

"Why don't I get your number to make things easier." He handed me his phone.

What in the world?, I screamed in my head.

Could today get any better?.

I punched my digits nervously into his phone and handed it back to him.

"I'll make sure to call you, or chat you, whichever you prefer."

"Anyone is fine." I preened like the young adult that I am.

"I should get going now."

"I can drive you home if you like?"

I quickly shook my head,

"Oh no, I have a driver coming to pick me up."

"Great, a humb classy lady, can I at least walk you outside before your driver arrives."

He's such a gentleman and I couldn't say no

After giving it a little thought, I allowed him to walk with me outside.

Ethan , Becca and a few of the hockey players were standing around Ethan 's car when we got outside.

The hockey players waved at Vale, he waved back.

Thankfully the driver came just in time, I quickly entered to avoid Ethan 's gaze
