Dantai Yunhan frowned with a slight of anger, but Chu Qiao smiled at him without noticing anything wrong. Suddenly, Dantai Yunhan clamped her face with both hands, so she couldn’t escape any more.
Chu Qiao tried to struggle, but Dantai Yunhan didn’t give her another chance to dodge by sealing her lips with his, which made her blush and almost breathless.
It took long before Dantai Yunhan slowly let her go when he found that she was nearly suffocated. Chu Qiao began to gasp for air in relief, having no idea of what was wrong with Dantai Yunhan. Why was he so rude? Maybe it was because her beauty had led him out of control.
Feeling comfortable after his vengeance, Dantai Yunhan looked at the Princess breathing heavily under him, quite proud but also slightly surprised, for he had never been so rude to a woman. Today he seemed bewitched and couldn’t control himself when seeing her. When did she become so charming?
Chu Qiao settled back into concentration and was irritated when she saw the proud look on Dantai Yunhan’s face. How could he feel proud when she was almost suffocated just now? Chu Qiao swore to herself that she would take revenge on him in the future.
When Chu Qiao was thinking about whether she should put some cathartic in his food later, Dantai Yunhan flung himself towards her again and left her with no chance to react. The good night passed so quickly without a trace.
Awakened by the early morning sunlight, Dantai Yunhan turned around and planned to snooze for a while. But soon he was stunned awake by the sight in front of him.
Chu Qiao was lying beside him, with her arms stretching out like lotus, and her face with a trace of blush, as if the aftereffect of last night was still lingering. A lovely tear was hanging from the corner of her eye. His hands were still inside her clothes, feeling her jade-like smooth skin and her body fragrance.
Dantai Yunhan almost lost control again. He took a sip of tea to calm down, and was about to get up since it was impossible for him to go back to sleep any more. Then Chu Qiao slowly opened her eyes and it seemed that she was woken up by Dantai Yunhan.
Immediately, pain swept through her and she couldn't lift her arms. What happened last night suddenly came back to mind, making her blush. Dantai Yunhan turned into a complete beast. Was it two or four hours? Anyway, in the end she was so exhausted that she almost passed out.
When Dantai Yunhan saw that Chu Qiao was awake, he felt a little sorry for his intemperate behavior last night. Husbands and wives should treat each other with due respect, but he, the Prince Regent secondary to the Emperor in the kingdom, forced his legal wife to...
Chu Qiao turned around and saw the culprit of the aches all over her, so she turned over with a poker face. Seeing that Chu Qiao was still angry with him, Dantai Yunhan put on a guilty smile: "Please don't be mad at me. I didn't mean to."
Chu Qiao snorted, "What can I possibly hate you for since you are my husband?"
Dantai Yunhan could feel the complaining implication behind her words and didn't know how to coax her for the time being. So he only said: "Alright, just help me get changed now. I haven't looked into the issue of last night, and I do owe a proper explanation to my brother, and I personally want to find out who was trying to drive a wedge between my brother and me."
"Oh, great. I'd like to see whether Sister Chu Jiao was framed or she just reaped the fruit she sowed."
After Dantai Yunhan left, Chu Qiao called in a maid to dress her up. Looking at her own delicate face, she felt extremely pleased, for she was pretty sure about how to draw Dantai Yunhan’s attention although she wasn’t sure about how to grasp his heart.
After all, she once lived in modern times, and had learned a few lessons of how to keep a relationship by observing other couples, although she didn't have much hands-on experience herself. Chu Jiao had better watch 800 episodes of ancient drama and learn some useful tricks before even attempting to gain the upper hand.
As for Dantai Yunhan, although he said that he was going to look into the banquet issue, he was too obsessed with Chu Qiao, including her slightest facial expressions.
When Chu Qiao had finished her breakfast, she went to the garden for a walk. The servants were busy with their work, going back and forth. Chu Qiao immediately felt sorry for almost everyone in this mansion at the sight of them using cheesy rouge. She didn't know why they would even use this kind of thing.
Suddenly, she noticed the roses in the garden and it occurred to her that the mixture of rose petals, morning dew and spices would give off a charming fragrance. She immediately asked the servants to pick some rose petals and collect the dew on them.
A maid came over and asked, "Why do you have to pick these flowers? They look beautiful on the branches."
Had it been in the past, Chu Qiao would have slapped the girl and scolded her for asking unnecessary questions instead of just obeying her orders. But now the situation was different, and she must act like a lady.
So she tried to be patient and explained, "The roses can only give off fragrance for a while and soon they will wither anyway. However, the fragrance can last long if the petals are plucked off and made into scented candles. Wouldn’t it be better?"
The young maid pondered for a while and agreed with Chu Qiao as she nodded: "Please forgive me for my folly, Your Highness."
"That’s not your fault. Well, you can get back to work", Chu Qiao gave her a meaningful stare.
Watching the servant girl walking out of her sight, Chu Qiao slowly shook her head and murmured to herself, "Chu Jiao, you sent a servant to spy on me just because you haven’t got the nerve to come in person? Do you really think that I don’t know who your spies are in my Palace?"
Dantai Yunhan was practicing calligraphy in his study, but his writing today was crabbed, which was mainly because he couldn't focus.
He murmured: "What's the matter? Why do I constantly think of her when I'm free? She used to behave without manners, but now she is decent and poised. Is it truly because I was used to neglecting her before that I don’t know much about the real her?"
Bustling sounds rang in Chu Qiao’s Palace from time to time. She was busy with pulverizing the rose petals into powder as one of the ingredients for her perfume.
"Ah, this is so hard. I thought it would be easy, but why does mine smell so different? Let me see… Right! I should add more petals from different kinds of flowers to set off the fragrance. Is anyone outside?"
Hearing the Princess’s call, a maid outside immediately ran in, "What can I do for you, Your Highness?"
"Go to the garden and pick some of the most fragrant flowers. Remember, not the rotten petals." Chu Qiao commanded.
"Yes, Your Highness." The maid respectfully saluted and walked out slowly.
