Sidney was lying in bed, blinking his sleepy eyes. Out of nowhere, he reached out to Carlos, wanting a hug from his dad.
Carlos walked over, bent down, and scooped Sidney into his arms.
Madison teased, "Sidney loves his dad the most. They're like two peas in a pod."
Sidney never liked anyone else holding him, except for Carlos.
"Sidney, give Dad a kiss."
Carlos leaned in, bringing his face close to Sidney's.
Sidney gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
Carlos gently kissed Sidney's forehead, a rare softness in his eyes.
The Murphy family members all thought that Sidney had intellectual disabilities. After all, he was seven years old and still couldn't speak, so there must be some intellectual issues.
But Carlos believed that since Sidney was his child, he had to take responsibility. Carlos was a very responsible man, especially when it came to family.
"Sidney, be a good boy and go to sleep, okay?" Carlos coaxed.
Sidney nodded.
Carlos tucked him in, walked to the door, saw that Sidney had closed his eyes, turned off the light, and left the room.
The next day, Angela was banging on the door.
"Open the door!Open the door!"
The door was locked from the outside.
Angela tried to break the lock, but it was too sturdy. She kicked the door, but it wouldn't budge.
She went to the window and opened it. The room was on the fourth floor, and the height was intimidating.
Outside, Madison called out, "Ms. Parker, if you don't explain about the kid, Mr. Murphy's not gonna let you go!"
Angela was confused. Explain what?
She thought of Sidney in Carlos's arms. Back then, when Carlos was in a coma, The Murphy family arranged three IVF attempts for her. When she didn't get pregnant, Sophia Miller wouldn't have wasted her efforts on her.
Sidney might have been born to another woman Sophia found for Carlos. After all, Sophia wouldn't have wanted The Murphy family to be without a child. And now, they were blaming her.
If Sidney were her son, even if he had issues, he would still be her precious child, and she wouldn't abandon him.
Now, Carlos had her locked up, and she couldn't get out. What about Eddie at home alone?
Angela was anxious, exhausted, and mentally drained.
Meanwhile, Eddie was in his room, searching for information.
"Wikipedia—Carlos, CEO of Magic Strategy Group."
The introduction about Carlos on Wikipedia was brief, especially concise.
The Murphy Group, which controlled Barcelonna's economy, was the most mysterious and wealthy family in Barcelonna.
They were rumored to be super-rich, controlling economies in many countries. It wasn't an exaggeration to say they were as rich as a nation. They were a legendary family. There was very little information about Carlos online, not even a photo.
Eddie tilted his head, tapping his fingertips rhythmically on the table, a hint of suspicion in his eyes.
He had set up surveillance around the apartment and saw Angela being dragged into a car.
He traced the car's license plate and found it belonged to Magic Strategy Group.
Carlos.
He was sure Carlos's people had kidnapped Angela.
But why?
Angela had no money. Was Carlos another bad guy after Angela's beauty?
Eddie suddenly felt nervous.
The doorbell rang.
Eddie went to the door and asked cautiously, "Who is it?"
"Eddie, it's me," a gentle woman's voice replied.
Eddie recognized the voice. It was Henna White, his mom's good friend.
He opened the door, and Henna walked in, puzzled.
"Eddie, hasn't Angela gotten up yet? She and I had an interview scheduled today."
Eddie grabbed Henna's hand.
"Henna, take me to Magic Strategy Group!"
Henna was stunned.
"What's going on?"
Eddie said, "My mom's been kidnapped by Magic Strategy Group!"
