Usually, Sidney only wants Carlos to hold him and doesn't like anyone else touching him. Madison got the job because she knows how to handle Sidney.
Seeing Angela about to hold Sidney, Madison immediately stopped her.
"Don't touch Sidney!"
She reached out to push Angela.
But Angela, holding Sidney, lost her balance and fell backward!
"Mom!" Eddie screamed in panic.
Angela tumbled down the stairs.
Instinctively, she held Sidney tightly to protect him.
With a loud thud, she hit the wall and finally stopped.
The group rushed to her side. Angela was bleeding from her head, but Sidney was unharmed. Madison quickly picked Sidney up.
Eddie ran over and hugged Angela.
"Mom!"
Seeing Angela's bleeding forehead, he was heartbroken.
"Are you okay?"
Angela waved her hand, too dizzy to speak, but still managed to say, "I'm fine."
Sidney's eyes welled up with tears. He opened his mouth and said a trembling word, "Hurt."
Madison panicked.
"Sidney, where does it hurt?"
She checked Sidney all over but found no injuries.
Just as she was puzzled, Sidney suddenly pointed to Angela's bloody forehead, his delicate brows furrowed.
"Hurt."
He saw Angela was hurt and felt a stabbing pain in his heart.
He didn't know this woman was his mother, but he still felt pain for her.
Madison looked at Angela indifferently. As long as Sidney was okay, she didn't care about Angela.
But then Madison suddenly realized something and exclaimed, "Sidney spoke!"
"Sidney spoke!"
"Quick, get Sophia! Tell her Sidney finally spoke! Hurry!"
A servant rushed upstairs to inform Sophia.
Madison then told the butler, "Call Mr. Murphy! Tell him Sidney spoke!"
She was so excited because The Murphy family promised her a big reward if Sidney started talking.
Madison was trembling with excitement.
"Mr. Murphy, Sophia called to say Sidney finally spoke!"
In the car, Mike held his phone, visibly excited.
After all these years, Sidney finally spoke!
The car pulled into the garage.
Carlos strode inside and went straight upstairs.
In Sidney's bedroom, he pushed the door open. Sophia, the servants, and Madison were gathered around Sidney's bed.
Sidney leaned against the headboard, holding a teddy bear, but remained silent.
Sophia looked worried. Seeing Carlos, she immediately complained, "Angela really messed Sidney up!"
Carlos asked, "What happened?"
Sophia explained, "Madison said Sidney was about to speak, but that woman insisted on holding him. She lost her balance and fell down the stairs. Sidney might have been scared and stopped talking again!"
Carlos looked at Madison.
"Sidney spoke?"
Madison quickly nodded.
"Yes! I've been teaching Sidney to talk every day, and just now, he really spoke!"
She was eager to take credit.
Carlos asked, "What did he say?"
Madison hesitated, then made something up.
"Sidney said he misses Dad and loves Dad the most."
Sidney looked up at her, knowing she was lying.
Carlos walked to the bed, sat down, and took Sidney into his arms.
"Sidney?"
Sidney kept his head down, looking upset.
"What's wrong, Sidney?" Carlos asked gently, "Don't you want Dad to hold you?"
Sidney suddenly pointed to the door.
Carlos frowned and carried Sidney to the door.
Sophia followed closely behind.
Everyone else trailed along.
At the door, Sidney pointed in another direction.
Carlos understood and walked in that direction.
They stopped at another door.
Sidney pointed at it.
Carlos told a servant, "Open the door."
The door opened.
Inside, Angela lay on the bed, her forehead bandaged.
Eddie was by her side. Hearing the noise, he looked up.
Madison immediately pointed at Angela.
"It's her! She made Sidney fall down the stairs!"
Angela was stunned.
"Sidney was about to speak, but who knows what injuries he got from the fall. It's all her fault."
Madison blamed Angela.
"If Sidney's brain got damaged because of you, can you take responsibility?"
Angela was frustrated.
"What do you mean?"
Eddie said, "Don't slander my mom! If she hadn't protected him, she wouldn't be so badly hurt!"
Sophia, seeing Eddie for the first time, was surprised.
"Who is this child? He calls Angela 'Mom.' Is he Angela's son?"
She frowned, her eyes filled with anger.
"Angela! Explain this to me! Where did this child come from?"
Angela didn't respond immediately.
Sophia was furious, pointing at Angela.
Sophia was all fired up, pointing at Angela. "Angela, don't tell me this kid ain't yours from another dude! The Murphys went all in to tie the knot with you. If you two-timed Carlos, they ain't gonna take it lightly!"
"Granny Sophia," Carlos cut in, "I already split with her."
Sophia shot back, "Carlos, you ain't getting it! She was your wife! If she cheated, The Murphys forked out big time for a gal like her. It's just plain wrong!"
"Bitch." Angela's eyelids twitched.
To Sophia, she seemed like a mere transaction, devoid of dignity.
Back then, The Parker Group made a deal with The Murphy Group, taking money from The Murphy family to get through a business crisis.
Angela had a miserable time with The Murphy family for those two years.
She felt a pang of sadness.
Eddie suddenly said coldly, "Who dares call my Mom a bitch!"
He stood protectively in front of Angela, like an angry little lion, glaring at Sophia.
"Try bullying my Mom, I dare you!"
