Chapter 183: Urgent Message
Days later, Alec decided to go to the office. He had an emergency meeting with some of his new partners that day.
Throughout the crises , he didn't leave Vera's and her family but stood by them till the end.
Except for the fact that he hadn't had a good sleep for days now, he was deeply hurt inside.
The reminder that Vera already has kids with another man hurts him.
Its not like he wouldn't except her back into his life if she's willing to come back but—
The chances of them getting back together may be slim.
He gave out measured breath.
That morning, he decided to hurry up with work. The meeting with the partner would begin at 1pm.
Also, Richard has specially invited him to his abode for the first time. Richard said he had something to say to him. The meeting was about 5 pm.
Alec's heart can't stop beating each time he remembers his meeting with Richard.
He typed something on the laptop as he fixed his eyes undividedly at the screen, battling with his wild thoughts.
By noon, he left for his meeting with his new partners.
It was quite brief. Just an hour and Forty-eight minutes.
The partners were really glad to collaborate with a business tycoon like Alec.
Immediately he stepped out of the hotel, he drove back to the office.
As he got to the office, he was confronted by the presence of Isla. He didn't know how she sneaked in.
She had sat quietly in the lobby. His staff didn't recognize her because of the veil she wore, as if she was an Arabia woman or something.
Isla's stomach had become slightly big. It's so true that she was pregnant.
Seeing her, Alec decided she would come with him to his office so they could put an end to all the troubles.
Reaching the CEO's office, Isla's eyes widened. There were no words to describe how incredible the place was.
“You’ve been stalking me… tell me, what do you want Isla?” Alec said, his voice low and soft.
“ You own this beautiful place?” Isla's eyes narrowed around.
Alec glared at her with contempt as he pulled the laptop to himself.
“I don't have all the time in the world for myself, woman!” he said firmly with authority in his voice.
“I’m sorry…Alec…for my past—”
“ You're forgiven.” He interrupted, cutting her off. “ Now, can we go our separate ways? I don't want to hurt anyone again”.
“I’m carrying your child Alec, please believe me… I know I have hurt you but the child knows nothing at all… please” Isla begged, her eyes reddened.
A small carved smile snickered Alec's face. He wanted to yell at Isla but there was no need for that.
“ I wish you well, Isla. And, safe delivery” he said, dismissively.
“No, Alec” she sprang up to her feet, protesting.” I can't raise this child alone. You took every means of livelihood from me.How do I survive?”
“I’m not responsible for whatever child in your womb and would ever support you with a dime. You know why, Isla? Because I want you to go through the same pain I went through”
”Then, let's see how it goes! I won't let you rest if you continue to deny me and my unborn child.” Isla barked, tears brimming her eyes down.
Alec didn't reply.
“Oh, you're suddenly silent? You should say something. Because I'm not leaving here without you agreeing that this child is yours”.
“Tell me, Isla?” Alec raised his gaze to her. “ What do you really want? Child support or me?”
Exhaling, Isla crashed back on the seat, confused on what to say.
“I don't know… all I need now is to have my home back. To start up again” her voice lowered.
“Oh, I'm afraid, Isla. Your request cannot be granted. Toby isn't dead either. You can wait till he gets free so you both can start up again.”.
“ What? Isla's eyes blinked. She didn't quite get what Alec was saying.
The news about Toby's arrest hasn't been made known to her yet.
“Your time is up now, Isla. You should leave.” Alec, dismissed.
“Well, I'm not going anywhere. I will stay!”She said unapologetically, breathing hard.
Alec gave a sly grin. “I thought by now, you would have grown into a sensible woman. But I guess I'm wrong” he said, and Isla's anger grew evenly.
“You can say anything you want, Alec. But I promise never to let you have peace—
Isala was still blabbing when the door patted and two hefty-looking young men with terrifying faces stepped in.
They were the company's security officers. Alec had texted them some minutes ago before asking Isla to come with him to the office.
“Ma’am, you need to leave. Right now!” One of them said with a fierce voice.
“I am not going anywhere. This man here” she points to Alec. “ He kept rejecting his child” Isla barked but the men didn't pay her attention.
One of the men hunched and raised her up to his shoulders, carrying her away.
“Let go of me!” She kept hitting the security officer but she got hurt instead.
Immediately the voice muffled and Isla and the men had gone, Alec took his phone to call Josh.
Him and Josh spoke briefly on the phone before he ended the call.
He glared at the time. It was almost 4 pm. So, he hurried to finish his work before leaving the office.
The atmosphere was calm. A certain peace filled the air, causing Alec to smile to himself.
Deep down, he was overjoyed because he had defeated his enemies—Lawson and Toby.
Lawson was charged with murder, illegal activities and abduction. Currently, Lawson is serving in the state prison and has been sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labor
Alec also heard that one of Lawson's men was still on the run and hadn't been seen.
As for Toby, he has been taken to the health care department in the police station to have his right eye treated. With what Josh had said earlier, Toby right now was as good as blind, leaving him with one eye only.
Right now, the police were just waiting for his condition to be stable before continuing with the case.
Alec opened the car and drove off. However, something kept disturbing his peace of mind—Vera and her kids
