Chapter 33 Chapter 33. Zoria’s Fall
"Zephyr, you cannot treat me like this." Zoria was left hanging beneath the staircase, her whole body shaking with fear.
"Then tell me. What exactly did you and Evander do?" Zephyr’s voice was cold as ice. He ground his teeth and deliberately loosened his grip just a little, frightening Zoria so badly that she panicked and clutched the front of his shirt with all her strength.
Tears soaked Zoria’s face, and the fear in her heart spread until it felt like it was tearing her chest apart.
"Zephyr, I am begging you to believe me. Evander and I really did not do anything."
"Are you going to talk or not?" Zephyr roared in rage. His eyes were bloodshot, veins crowding his pupils, the muscles on his forehead twitching violently.
Zoria’s heart turned ice cold, as if it had fallen into a frozen pit. How was she supposed to explain this? Should she tell him about the cub in her womb?
Zephyr let out a mocking laugh, sharp and terrifying. Zoria’s silence, in his eyes, was nothing but an admission of guilt. The more he laughed, the crazier his gaze became.
His hands tightened around Zoria as they trembled violently, as if he might let go at any second and throw her down below.
"Zoria, I already gave you a chance. If you will not speak, then you will pay the price. Today will be payback for the day you pushed Faye."
"No… Zephyr, I’m carrying something…"
Before Zoria could finish her sentence, Zephyr released his grip and threw her straight down from the second floor staircase.
Her eyes flew open in her final moment of terror, her consciousness snapping apart. Her body spun out of control, tumbling down step after step, her abdomen taking the brunt of the impact again and again.
Zoria let out a piercing scream as the world turned upside down. When she hit the floor, her vision blurred, and all she managed to see was Zephyr standing above her, proud and cold.
Zephyr, I hate you!
A violent, cramping pain surged through her abdomen, her spine feeling as if it had shattered. Zoria convulsed in agony, broken moans spilling from her throat as she clutched her stomach tightly.
My baby… my baby…
A cold, wet sensation slowly spread beneath her body.
The pain grew more intense by the second, sweat pouring off her like rain. In no time, Zoria was completely soaked, as if she had been dragged out of a pool of diluted blood.
Zephyr stood on the second floor staircase, his hands clenched and trembling. Rage had clouded his reason, but when he saw the blood spreading across the floor, his mind finally cleared.
Why was Zoria bleeding so much?
When Faye fell down the stairs, it had not been this serious…
Zephyr snapped and rushed down, pulling Zoria tightly into his arms. Fear flooded his chest, making even his fingertips tremble.
The pain tore apart Zoria’s awareness. She weakly opened her eyes and looked at the male holding her. Her hand suddenly tightened against his chest, her nails scratching through his skin and leaving a crescent shaped trail of blood.
"Zephyr," Zoria called his name in a sobbing, trembling voice filled with resentment.
Her body was drenched in blood, the thick metallic scent filling the air.
"Is anyone there?" The glaring red of the blood sent Zephyr into panic. Holding Zoria tightly, he rushed straight outside.
As soon as he reached the door, the driver Mike came running over after hearing the commotion. When he saw Zephyr carrying someone covered in blood, his face went pale.
"Mr. Hawthorne… are we going to the hospital?"
"Yes! Get the car here now!"
Zoria rested her forehead against Zephyr’s chest, clearly hearing his heart pounding like thunder.
So cold… so painful…
She barely opened her eyes and looked up at the sky. At some point, the dark clouds had parted, revealing scattered white stars, and snow had begun to fall. Zoria was in so much pain she was close to passing out. Her hand was still gripping the fabric over her belly, the slight curve of her abdomen, but there was no longer any movement there.
"Zoria, what is wrong with you? What else are you hiding from me?" Zephyr’s eyes were red as he shouted at her.
In unbearable pain, Zoria no longer had the strength to answer. She blinked a few times, tears spilling out and mixing with cold sweat as they ran down her chin to her neck.
Her face, already pale, was now white as paper. Zoria gasped for breath, coughing weakly, her heart feeling like it was being stabbed with needles, her abdomen twisting like it was being cut by knives.
Each cough drained more color from her face. A sickly sweet taste rose in her throat. Blood trickled from the corner of her lips, staining half her face and the front of her clothes red.
Zephyr was completely panicked. His trembling hand wiped the blood from Zoria’s face, his fingertips smeared with fresh red.
"Mr. Hawthorne…" At a red light, Mike stopped the car and turned back to look at the scene in Zephyr’s arms, too frightened to finish his sentence.
Zephyr looked up, his expression dark. "Why are you stopping? Speed up!"
Mike wanted to say that the light was red, but when he met Zephyr’s bloodshot eyes, he immediately slammed the accelerator, honked the horn, and rushed straight toward the hospital.
……
The villa fell into chaos, the staircase stained with splashes of blood.
Faye stood on the second floor, looking down from above, the corner of her lips lifting into a cold smile.
The maid Jenna asked anxiously, "Ms. Faye, what should we do next?"
Faye turned away, the smile gone. "It is snowing outside. Turn on the heating. And find someone to clean up the filth on the floor."
Jenna stared at Faye in shock. She had never imagined that someone who looked as pure and harmless as Faye could do something so horrifying. Jenna shivered slightly and lowered her head. "Yes, I will take care of it right away."
"Jenna." Faye suddenly called out. "Remember to keep your mouth shut about the photos."
Jenna nodded repeatedly and hurried downstairs.
Faye leaned against the railing and looked down. Her body still ached, but when she thought of Zoria’s current state, the pain seemed to fade away.
She had already bought off the hospital. Faye eagerly anticipated the look on Zephyr’s face when he found out that Zoria had been carrying a cub of unknown origin.
Lowering her gaze, she thought to herself, I wonder how much damage an Omega suffers if she gets pregnant and then gives birth prematurely? Would she die from it?
……
The heater was on in the car, yet Zoria was still shivering uncontrollably. Her consciousness drifted in and out, her lips moving as she softly murmured,
"Babe…"
Her voice was hoarse, so quiet it was almost inaudible. Zephyr took off his coat, wrapped it around her, and held her tightly. Hearing her weak whisper, he lowered his head to listen and only caught the word "babe".
