Chapter 40: Storms of emotions

"Fucking bitch! " He said angrily, picking up his things and walking straight to the police car.

Andreia laughed as she got into the police car to explain. She waved and blew kisses in debauchery.

" Ma'am, you can come with us to make your statement. "The policeman asked kindly.

" I'm tired, my father-in-law will take care of it. ” He turned away and went to his room.

I could finally breathe a sigh of relief, I had almost lost my mind and ruined my whole plan. Fortunately, I have the perfect woman as my fiancée and soon to be my wife.

My grandmother still cries inconsolably for raising such a bad son, to the point of wanting to throw his parents out on the street. Embraced by the compassion of Andreia's mother, who stood by her side.

Together with my grandfather, I went to the police station, where I was furious with the old man for dropping all the charges.

I wanted to shout at him, I was so angry.

My uncle came out of his cell smiling victoriously, without a trace of remorse.

”Go away. ” He said arrogantly.

My grandfather asked the two of them to talk, but got a sigh of debauchery, eyes rolling, cigarette in hand, smoke on his face.

We went to a cheap diner near the police station where we were staying. We sat at the last table, each on one side, followed by security guards who kept watch.

” Tell me what you want, Dad. ” He scratches his head impatiently.

”You already have the company, leave my family alone.”

He laughed in disbelief.

”Am I not your family?”

”The moment I discovered your involvement in the death of your brother and my daughter-in-law, you stopped being my family.”

He laughed again in disbelief and lit another cigarette.

" I'm not surprised at all."

" Don't act like it's your fault."

"You know what, Dad? I'm done trying to prove myself to you, trying to get your approval. You've never looked at me the same way you looked at your prodigy son. After his death, you didn't even think of me, and you put the brat in charge of the succession."

" It's the rules!"

"RULES? " He shouts, pounding on the table. " Admit it! Admit that you never wanted to give me your position! I can have the best resume, the best projects, but you never looked at the materials I gave you."

"Your duty is to help your nephew."

I'm laughs.

"Oh, I'm sorry! How tactless of me! Laughing when your beautiful grandson is a mental patient, unable to wipe his own ass. " Laugh harder.

" Boris will recover."

He stopped laughing and got serious.

"It hurts to know that he'll never support me like he supports his dear grandson. I even wanted to keep you in the chair to avoid seeing your disappointed face, I let you have the perfect woman by your side, but you ruined everything when you brought that filthy girl as your fiancée."

" Do you think I don't know that you also manipulated her father to make the engagement happen? I didn't pretend to be innocent."

"That was before the viper showed her claws. I honestly don't know what came over her, she was an obedient girl who never answered anyone rudely."

"I hoped I could control her, but I couldn't. No one can."

He laughed bitterly.

" Don't get so attached to the viper, her end is coming."

His threat was the end of my brief patience. In a rage that got out of control, I pounded the table so hard that everyone around me was startled by the noise. I covered it up by laughing like a fool, saying I'd seen a cockroach, then smashing the glasses and getting up to vent my hatred. I used my theater to release the hate I felt.

The meeting ended and my grandfather was forced to take me home. In the car on the way back, he sighed before asking the driver to give us some privacy.

" How long will you stay in this theater?"

I tried to stay in character, but my grandfather wouldn't let me.

"When did you find out?"

"I kept quiet for your fiancée's sake, she hates me with all her might. Your grandmother was the first to notice your theater, she knows you better than anyone."

"Grandma."

"Control your explosive temper. Your uncle won't stop until he has taken everything I have."

"Was this meeting just for that?"

"You're going to face a lot of hatred and danger from now on."

"Isn't that what I've faced since childhood?"

"I had power and money to protect you, but now I have nothing. Things will get worse from now on, so finish with Andreia."

"You can ask every day to let the answer be the same."

"Boris, she's suffered enough because of our family. She doesn't deserve to have so much hate in her heart, when I see her face it always reminds me of your mother for some reason. They're like my own granddaughters, one I lost without being able to do anything about it, but the other I want to save, even if it means hating myself."

Now I understand why he insisted so much on marriage in the afterlife, told so many lies out of the feeling that he wanted me as his daughter.

" I'm sorry."

He bowed his head sadly.

"I'll never forgive you if something bad happens to her."

"You can blame me forever if you let it happen."

" Andreia may seem like she doesn't care about anyone, acting cold and speaking harsh words. But in times of trouble she always comes to our aid, it's her way of saying she cares. Make her happy if you can't let her go."

"I will. That's why I'm asking you to bless our union and give us permission to get married."

" I'm not the one who has to give this blessing. You'll have to walk on eggshells to get it from her mother."
