Chapter 67: Unable to Resist Emotions
Rebecca had a terrible night's sleep.
She used to sleep like she was nestled in warm clouds every night, sleeping straight through until morning. Even when the sun came up, she wouldn't want to move, preferring to stay curled up under the covers a bit longer.
But last night, there were sharp points everywhere, making her neck hurt, her back hurt, her legs hurt.
Either she was burning up from the heat,
Or she'd shiver from the cold.
Hot and cold alternating, plus those sensations that made her want to curl up, Rebecca felt like she'd spent the night sleeping in a Lego storage box full of bumps.
She vaguely sensed it was morning, and Frederick was getting up.
Rebecca mumbled, "Frederick, I can't get up."
Frederick planted a kiss on her forehead. "Keep sleeping then."
She wanted to say, "You said it, so don't get on my case later if I sleep in like you did yesterday."
Rebecca moved her lips, hugged the blanket, and fell back asleep.
When she woke up again, it was late morning.
When Rebecca came downstairs after washing up, the huge living room was empty.
No one in the first-floor bedroom either.
"Mrs. Windsor, come eat..."
In the dining room, Layla efficiently brought out the food. "Mr. Windsor is upstairs in the game room playing video games with Alex."
"They already ate?"
"Yes. Mr. Windsor also said not to wake you, to let you sleep in."
"How did he look?"
"Pretty good."
"That's good then."
Eating with peace of mind, Rebecca was in a great mood.
Going back upstairs, from the fourth-floor game room, the sound effects of clashing swords from the game were clearly audible.
Rebecca wanted to sneak in and watch, but the moment she appeared at the door, Frederick seemed to sense it and turned to look at her.
Alex also dropped his controller and ran over.
Grabbing her hand, his gem-like big eyes full of eagerness: Rebecca, Rebecca, where are we going to play today?
"You'll know when we get there!"
Tapping his nose, Rebecca looked up at Frederick. "Frederick, will you drive us?"
Their eyes met, and Rebecca thought of last night's kiss—so long it made her blush and nearly left her breathless several times.
Her gaze immediately became evasive.
Frederick thought of even more.
Clearing his throat lightly, Frederick nodded. "Okay!"
Rebecca practically fled downstairs, pulling Alex along.
By the time Frederick got to the first floor, Rebecca and Alex had already changed their clothes.
Rebecca was also carrying a small suitcase. "We might be out really late, so I'll just head straight back to school afterward. It'll save me the back-and-forth trip."
Rebecca's explanation was perfectly reasonable.
But Frederick's heart couldn't help but sink.
So, last night really did scare her?
The Maybach drove out of Pinewood Mansion, heading straight for the ski resort in the suburbs.
In the car, Rebecca said in a clear voice, "Today we're going on the big ice slide, and we'll build a snowman and have a snowball fight. You can also watch the people skiing nearby, and if you're interested, we'll have your dad find you a good coach to learn. If you don't like it, that's fine too. How does that sound?"
Alex looked up at "his dad."
Frederick nodded. "Sounds good!"
Alex immediately broke into a brilliant smile.
The car stopped, and everything in sight was white.
As soon as the door opened, Alex jumped out and started stomping around in the snow pile by the car.
In the past three years, Alex had barely left the old mansion.
He'd seen countless snowfalls, big and small, but by the time he woke up, the servants at the old mansion had already swept and cleared away the snow outside.
Forget snowball fights and building snowmen—he'd never even experienced the simple pleasure of stomping in snow.
Alex stomped seriously.
Rebecca watched seriously.
Frederick walked over to stand beside her, then moved to stand in front of her. Rebecca instinctively took a step back.
His eyes darkening slightly, Frederick stepped forward and grabbed Rebecca's arm.
"Last night I couldn't control myself. If I scared you, I apologize!"
Frederick's voice was cold and heavy.
"It's fine, it's fine..."
According to Izzy, they were legally authorized, certified to kiss—what's the big deal!
Rebecca breathed a sigh of relief, blushing as she patted her chest. "I thought you were coming to... collect tuition from me!"
His expression froze for a moment, then Frederick's eyes showed amusement.
Rebecca felt embarrassed.
The next instant, she saw Frederick's expression change slightly as his long arm swept around her, pulling her into his embrace and turning around.
