Chapter 124 Mrs. Windsor Must Have
When everyone at the Windsor Group received the coffee and desserts distributed by the logistics department, Rebecca had just finished a big lecture.
After watching the professor leave the classroom, Rebecca looked up and saw Mike waiting in the hallway.
Thinking something had happened to Frederick, Rebecca dropped her pen and ran out.
Mike handed her a takeout bag with a big smile, "Mr. Windsor is treating everyone in the company to morning tea. Mr. Windsor said that what the employees get, Mrs. Windsor should get too, so he asked me to bring you a portion."
"Thanks, Mike, sorry to make you come all this way!"
Rebecca thanked him and carried the bag back to her seat.
Beside her, Isla smiled and asked, "Is your boyfriend feeding you?"
"Yep."
Rebecca nodded, opened the bag, and couldn't help smiling with her eyes crinkling.
She didn't know if it was Frederick being thoughtful or Mike being considerate, but both the coffee and cake came in double portions.
After sharing one portion with Isla, Rebecca casually took a photo and sent it to Frederick, [Thanks for the coffee and cake!]
The rich, sweet coffee was slightly hot.
On this cold winter day, it added a touch of happiness.
Rebecca and Isla chatted about design while eating and drinking, with others chiming in from time to time. The atmosphere in the classroom was visibly warm and cozy.
In a corner on the other side, Jessica's face looked rather unpleasant.
She had thought that with such a huge bucket of dirty water on the forum, even if Rebecca didn't get completely drenched, she'd at least get splattered with mud.
Unexpectedly, she had come out completely unscathed.
Not only that, but she'd gained a cool reputation and won everyone's praise.
Even the wish-making thread on the forum wasn't as popular as Rebecca's thread.
Her phone buzzed. Jessica pulled back her resentful gaze and saw "Mr. Johnson" on the screen.
Her heart trembled for no reason.
That night at Blue Bar, Dennis had called her "baby" over and over, telling her to be good.
Maybe it was the intoxication of emotions rather than alcohol.
Or maybe the loud drumbeats outside shattered all her restraint.
The moment the sharp pain came, before the whimper in her mouth could escape, she heard Dennis suddenly blurt out "Becca" in her ear.
Her body froze, and so did her heart.
Jessica didn't even know how she left Blue Bar or how she got back to her dorm.
Early the next morning, Dennis had someone deliver medicine to her and sent a message reminding her to take it.
In the days after, the two had no contact whatsoever.
Jessica couldn't even bring herself to ask, "What exactly do you take me for?"
Afraid the answer would be even more humiliating.
And now, this was the first time Dennis had reached out to her since sending the medicine.
In the corner of her eye was Rebecca, drinking coffee and chatting animatedly with classmates.
In her ear was Dennis's suppressed yet excited "Becca."
Forcing down the bitterness in her heart, Jessica opened her phone. The next moment, her lips curved up.
Dennis had sent her a photo, [Which color do you like?]
In the photo was a newly released winter handbag.
Black was elegant.
White was fresh.
Golden brown was charming.
After holding back for a few minutes, Jessica chose white.
After a while, Dennis replied: [Come pick it up tonight. The Skyline Grand Hotel, 9999.]
Her heart pounding, Jessica didn't even hear when the class bell rang or what the professor on the podium said.
Her mind was full of what she should wear tonight and what time she should go.
If she went too early, she worried Dennis would think she was too eager.
If she went too late, she worried he'd lose patience waiting.
All day long, she mentally tried on every piece of clothing in her closet, but nothing seemed good enough.
Seeing Rebecca walking toward Star Apartments in the evening sun, Jessica felt a bit regretful.
If she hadn't offended Rebecca, she could wear any piece from Rebecca's wardrobe.
But there were no ifs.
Her gaze swept over the white down jacket Rebecca was wearing, and Jessica's heart stirred. She hurried back to her dorm.
Not daring to eat too much dinner, Jessica showered and put on a short white sweater, jeans, and a white down jacket.
Grabbing her makeup bag, Jessica stared at herself in the mirror for a long time before carefully doing her makeup.
At nine o'clock sharp, Jessica rang the doorbell of VIP suite 9999.
The door opened after just one ring.
The smile blooming on Jessica's face froze when she saw the woman inside.
