Chapter 61 Gale, Brian, and Lucas Fought

Chapter 61 Gale, Brian, and Lucas Fought

Oscar pushed up his glasses, "Ever since you two separated, Mr. Valeri's condition has been unstable. He's been taking medication to stabilize his mental state for years, but at some point, he stopped taking it on his own."

Oscar handed me a small pill box, "I hope you can persuade Mr. Valeri to take his medication on time. The sooner he returns to normal, the better it is for you."

I stared at the pill box for several seconds, "Where's Lucas?"

"Mr. Valeri is outside the company now." Alfred sighed, "Your two brothers are here."

I looked at him sharply, "I want to see them!"

"I'm sorry, Ms. Sorelli." Alfred apologetically pulled out a gun and pointed it at me, "You can't leave this room."

"Lucas isn't normal, and now you're not normal either?" I was furious and laughed coldly, "You know Lucas is crazy right now, and you're still enabling him? What you should be doing isn't watching me! You should be tying him up and forcing him to take his medication!"

Alfred looked ashamed but didn't move the gun away, "I'm sorry, Ms. Sorelli, I can't disobey Mr. Valeri's orders. Also, Mr. Valeri is not crazy."

I glanced at the half-open door. There were at least ten Soldati guarding outside.

I took a deep breath, "At least tell me what's happening out there."

Alfred hesitated for two seconds, then said, "Gale and Brian have surrounded the dock with armed men, demanding Mr. Valeri release you. The first night was just a standoff; the second day, there were three exchanges of fire with casualties on both sides. Now it's midnight on the third day, and Gale and Brian have taken some Caporegime family members hostage. They also want to threaten Mr. Valeri using the Caldwell family. Harold passed out from anger."

My vision went dark.

How did things turn out like this? This is terrible!

"Let me go back!" I snapped at Alfred, "As long as I go back, the conflict will stop. You can't be too stupid to understand something this simple, right?"

Compared to getting Lucas to voluntarily let me go, I thought I had a better chance of convincing Alfred.

But Alfred shook his head, "Ms. Sorelli, why don't you stay instead? If you continue to stay by Mr. Valeri's side, it would be good for everyone."

"But not good for me!" I shouted, unable to control my anger, "How could I possibly continue living with a rapist!"

"Please don't say that, Mr. Valeri loves you!" Alfred's loyalty was always with Lucas, "In fact, if you hadn't fainted in front of Mr. Valeri this time, and if Gale and Brian hadn't tried everything to prevent Mr. Valeri from seeing you, Mr. Valeri would never have been provoked into such extreme behavior."

"Ridiculous!" I cut him off, "So you're saying my brothers are the ones responsible for this situation!"

Alfred nodded and said quietly, "I think so."

"Get out!" Alfred's loyalty and straightforwardness gave me a headache. "All of you, get out!"

I threw the covers over myself and buried my head under them. After hearing the door close, I waited a bit longer before cautiously poking my head out.

The food Alfred brought in was still on the nightstand. Good, the metal fork beside the plate was still there!

I gripped the fork tightly in my hand, as it could serve as a weapon, but what should I do next?

While I was thinking hard, Lucas came back.

I instinctively hid the fork under the pillow.

Lucas was injured, with the fresh smell of gunpowder on him. I couldn't help but frown, worried about Gale and Brian.

"Come here." Lucas sat heavily on the spacious sofa and ordered me, "Help me bandage this."

I pressed my lips together and walked over with the small pill box Oscar had given me.

Lucas had some minor external injuries, nothing serious. I found the medical kit and disinfected his wounds. Perhaps because I was thinking about other things, looking directly at the bloody wounds didn't trigger my psychological issues this time.

I was thinking about how to probe for information about Gale and Brian when Lucas suddenly grabbed my chin, forcing me to look up and meet his eyes.

"Who are you making that face for? Smile!"

I sneered, "Is there anyone else in the room besides you?"

"I shot Brian in the stomach." Lucas looked satisfied seeing my expression change, then became unhappy again, "You're that worried about them? Foolish! You think of them as beloved brothers, but they're just using you!"

"Absurd!" I shouted back, "I won't let you insult our sibling bond!"

Lucas snorted and pulled out his phone, showing me those news articles that called me a family tool.

My temples throbbed with anger, "Complete nonsense! That newspaper also once said you abused me every day, and you actually believe their crap! Did your IQ drop after you stopped taking your medication?"

Lucas glanced at me, "The news is made up, but some things aren't. Back then, when the city government was building a landmark in the city center, they ran short on funds in the later stages and had to sell the land and unfinished project."

I frowned as I listened, not understanding why he was bringing this up.

The so-called city center landmark building is now the Platinum Haven Hotel.

"I was the one who cut off the city government's funding." Lucas reached for the cigarette box on the coffee table, "To prevent me from succeeding, those guys came up with the idea of bidding. I was well prepared, but the day before the bidding meeting, I was ambushed, causing me to miss the meeting that was suddenly moved up an hour. Tell me, who leaked my whereabouts?"

I was stunned for two seconds and asked in disbelief, "You suspect me?"

Lucas said nothing.

I exploded, "Amelia always knows exactly where you are. She's the one secretly monitoring your whereabouts. You don't suspect her, but you suspect me!"

"Amelia had no reason to stop me from attending the bidding meeting." Lucas played with the cigarette box and pulled out a document from under the coffee table, throwing it in front of me.

I picked it up suspiciously. Inside was actually evidence of Gale and James ambushing Lucas!

My blood ran cold.

"Impossible." After several seconds, I finally found my voice, "I don't believe it. I didn't leak your whereabouts!"

"I believe you wouldn't actively betray me." Lucas tossed the cigarette box on the table, put his arm around my shoulder, pulled me into his embrace, and whispered in my ear like a lover, but his words made me go cold all over, "There's only one possibility—they used you."

I forced myself to stay calm and not be misled by Lucas. I pushed him away with a cold face, "So what if I did leak your whereabouts? If Gale could successfully ambush you and build the Platinum Haven Hotel, that's his ability! If you lost, you lost. Don't make excuses for your failure."

Lucas clicked his tongue. Just then, Alfred came in with water and reminded Lucas to take his medication.

"Where's the medicine?" Lucas asked.

"I've already given it to Ms. Sorelli," Alfred answered respectfully.

I thought Lucas would resist taking the medication, but he didn't. He just made a request, "Feed me."

He paused, then smiled somewhat wickedly, "Feed me with your mouth."
