Chapter 168 Someone Wants to Kill Lucas

Chapter 168 Someone Wants to Kill Lucas

"You ask me why?" Sophie grinned, "Because I don't want any woman except me to have Lucas's child!"

Richard grabbed his hair in frustration, "You're insane!"

Sophie clutched her stomach and looked up, "Lucas, I love you so much I'm going crazy. Why can't you see my love for you? How am I worse than Amelia and Isabella?"

"Love? Don't insult that word." Lucas's eyes filled with fierce anger, "If I weren't the Kingpin of the North, would you still love me? At the end of the day, you're just after my status and wealth."

"What about her!" Sophie pointed at me, "Is she any different from other women!"

"Of course she's different." Lucas looked at her like she was already dead, "Whatever Bella wants, I'll gladly give her with both hands."

Lionel and Fiona couldn't bear to watch and turned their heads away from Sophie. Sophie stared at Lucas in shock, then broke into wild crying and laughing.

Lucas moved his fingers, "Alfred, shut her up."

Alfred brought rope and tape and tied Sophie up.

This couldn't just end here. Richard bit his lip, "Lucas."

"What?" Lucas was full of killing intent, "Are you going to beg for her again?"

Lionel quickly grabbed Richard, "Don't get involved! Since Sophie did this, she has to face the consequences!"

"I know, I'm not trying to plead for her." Richard rubbed his face hard, "Lucas, I just want to ask what you plan to do about this?"

"I'm holding her here. Naturally, her family will have to come ransom her back." Lucas said.

"No," Sophie became somewhat clear-headed, "Lucas, I was actually forced! Your father made me poison you!"

An unexpected twist.

My eyes fixed on Sophie's face, "Explain clearly."

Sophie closed her eyes, tears streaming from the corners, "Last night, your father contacted me and asked if I wanted revenge on Isabella."

"He told me to find a chance to put poison in Lucas's water. If it worked, he could rightfully take Lucas's property. If it failed, he'd pin everything on Isabella, making everyone think she poisoned Lucas!"

Sophie trembled all over, "This morning before I left, someone delivered the poison to me. I checked and found it was a deadly poison that kills within three minutes! I, I couldn't bear to let you die, I didn't want to kill you!"

"I switched the medicine. I only wanted Isabella to take poison that would destroy her fertility. Lucas, please, believe me! My feelings for you are real!"

The camp fell into dead silence except for Sophie's crying.

Lucas's hand at his side clenched into a fist, knuckles white, joints cracking softly, his eyes filled only with frozen ruthlessness and determination.

I held his large hand, kissed his lips to comfort him, then asked Sophie, "Where's the poison Donald gave you?"

Sophie didn't dare look at me directly, "At my house."

I narrowed my eyes slightly, "Alfred, search her!"

"Yes!" Alfred roughly searched Sophie. Richard couldn't bear to watch but didn't stop him.

He also wanted to know where that bottle of poison really was.

"Found it." Alfred discovered a dark-colored small bottle in the lining of Sophie's jacket.

"Why did you lie?" Richard was completely disappointed, "Sophie, how long are you going to keep deceiving us?"

I had Alfred carefully store that bottle of poison to be sent for testing later.

Then I pressed Sophie, "If you didn't want to use this poison, why hide it on you?"

Seeing she couldn't hide it anymore, Sophie confessed everything, "I wanted you and Lucas to completely break up, so after confirming you took my poison, I would still create a scene where you failed to poison Lucas."

"Then you'd expose me, you'd be the one who saved Lucas, make Lucas grateful to you, change how he sees you." I finished what she didn't say and laughed coldly, "When you came to apologize at noon, that was also to lower mine and Lucas's guard, right?"

Fiona's face suddenly changed, "Sophie, you used us! You had us come find Lucas for a gathering so you could poison him more easily!"

Sophie cried her heart out, making excuses, showing remorse, but even Richard and Lionel's last bit of sympathy for her disappeared.

The setting sun painted the sky red. Lucas touched my hair, "Bella, go back to Gale and Marcus first."

"What are you going to do?" I grabbed his hand.

"I'm his son, yet he wants me dead." He gripped my fingers, his tone cold and harsh, "I'm going to settle this account with him."

"I'll go with you." I said without hesitation.

Lucas looked at me deeply, "Okay."

The hunting competition was nearing its end, with the main event coming tomorrow, but now everyone was busy preparing for the upcoming bonfire party.

The entire grassland was immersed in cheerful music, the smell of wine and roasted meat drifting between tents, men and women laughing and playing around.

Lucas led me to the Valeri family's main camp.

Today he was dressed all in black from head to toe, except for the jeweled snake brooch on his chest and wine-red silver buttons.

A few strands of hair fell across his forehead, his eyes seeping coldness.

His presence was powerful, dignified and fierce. Even just seeing his expression from afar, you could feel the intense pressure.

Wherever we passed, the noise was quieter than elsewhere.

In the crowd, Jonas saw me and walked over with concern. I shook my head at him, and Jonas hesitantly stopped.

The guards at the entrance of the Valeri family camp looked at us nervously, instinctively wanting to block us, but were scared back two steps by Lucas's glare.

"Lucas?" Leonardo seemed about to go out. He stared at Lucas with vigilance and fear, saying irritably, "What are you doing here? You're not welcome here."

Lucas's thin lips parted slightly, "I'm here to deliver a gift."

"A gift?" Leonardo sneered, his face full of suspicion, "I thought you were here to cause trouble! You want to see Grandpa, right? Grandpa is very busy!"

"Move aside." Lucas interrupted him, "If you don't move, you'll face the consequences."

Leonardo felt humiliated and asked angrily, "What if I don't move! What can you do to me?"

Lucas stopped talking, raised his gun, and pointed it at the family flag hanging high in the camp, a symbol of honor.

Gunshots rang out continuously, the ground beneath our feet seeming to tremble.

Lucas showed no expression until the magazine was completely empty, then coldly tossed the empty magazine to Alfred behind him and loaded a new magazine full of bullets.

The bullets tore through the fabric. In less than a minute, the bright family flag was shot to shreds, tattered pieces floating down everywhere.

Leonardo opened his mouth in shock, "You, you actually shot at the family flag! You're finished, Grandpa won't let you get away with this!"
