Chapter 13
After June and Octavia were done at work, Octavia took her straight to a boutique so they could pick an outfit for her to use on their mission.
"You want to select your outfit from all these clothes?" June asked staring at the beautiful clothes on the rack. She busted into laughter as her eyes caught sight of a well-beaded gown which she was sure was going to cost a fortune, it seemed Octavia didn't know what she was getting herself into.
"Why are you laughing like a hen? Octavia asked.
" Hen? You are the one who is going to look like a hen in any of these outfits," June said.
"What?" Octavia chuckled. "How will I look like..."
"You said you needed my help right? June asked. "So you might as well let me help you," June added not waiting for Octavia to answer It was a good thing Octavia had requested her help first before going ahead with her plan because, with this first move, she would have been caught already.
"Alright," Octavia nodded not knowing what was June fuzz about her wanting to get some good clothes but she trusted that June would do anything in her best interest and not get her into trouble.
"Shall we?" June asked heading out of the boutique as Octavia followed behind, they walked down the street into the other boutique close by.
Octavia walked into the boutique looking around as a lot of ladies were going through the racks picking different clothes, she had never entered this boutique before because their clothes were not the latest designs, in fact, they were mostly thrift wear and old designs.
She found herself a chair close by and took her seat realizing that no one was going to come to attend to them unlike the other boutique where you were always attended to from the door, less crowd and they also offered a glass of drink or tea.
June stared at Octavia, it was quite obvious she had never entered this boutique before, she seemed out of place just sitting there instead of rushing to get the cheapest clothes on the rack.
"How much do you have so I can know what to select?" June asked straight forward before going to select clothes, she knew Octavia's size because she had helped her in the past to buy clothes from the boutique.
"One gown from the other store would buy this whole shop, so what are you asking me?" Octavia asked with hands folded was she really going to wear these clothes or was June just pulling her legs?
"I am not pulling those crazy legs," June said like she was reading Octavia's mind and got an eye roll from Octavia as she went to the rack to see what she could find.
First, she need to think it through so she wouldn't end up picking the wrong clothes, so she decided to get a basket. First, she had to select her office wears, then her house wears, her outing wears, and then her shoes, bags, hair accessories, and make-up kit and not to forget her perfume and roll on.
Everything had to ooze their lifestyle.
"We are wasting time you know?" June said waiting at the door of the car. They had gotten to the other branch in the outskirts of town but Octavia was refusing to get down from the car which she clearly didn't understand why.
Wasn't this her plan in the first place?
Wasn't she the one who had to be more comfortable with the idea of dressing like someone else?
It was already uncomfortable enough for her that she was going to have to lie that Octavia was her cousin who needed a job and had gotten an approval letter from her boss, it wasn't even the lie part that was uncomfortable.
It was the part where she had to control herself from not laughing at how ridiculous Octavia looked right now.
She was wearing an old wig, big glasses over her face that made her look like a granny, and the awful Ash gown she had on.
She had tried to touch up the dress a bit but Octavia insisted.
Octavia's pretend name was Bella.
"I feel weird," Octavia replied finally coming out of the car as her flat shoe touched the concrete floor, for some unknown reasons she felt awkward and she wasn't sure she would be able to do it.
"Remember the voice," June reminded her, she knew how much people that worked in the company were fascinated by her accent, it was one of many things that made Octavia stand out.
"Right," Octavia noted in a different accent.
She closed the door behind her as she and June walked into the company building, they had barely made it to the receptionist desk when they both caught sight of Keir coming out of the elevator with the branch manager.
June instantly turned back as she held Octavia's hand.
"Why didn't you tell me Keir would be here?" She whispered to Octavia. She wasn't close to Keir in any way, in fact, she was terrified of him. She was only opportune to call him by his name when speaking to Octavia but in reality, she dared not.
"How the hell was I to know?" Octavia muttered back already feeling sweat forming on her forehead. She knew Keir was fond of coming to her company to check on things since his other branch was also close by but she had not anticipated that he would come today of all days.
She should have known better and called him the minute she was about to leave the house.
"Miss June," the manager yelled waving her hands as June turned back to stare at Keir and the manager, while she was trying to compose herself the manager and Keir had already gotten close to them.
"Mrs. Smith," June said turning around, she bowed her head to Keir as she pinched Octavia to do the same.
Octavia opened her mouth to ask why June was secretly pinching her but she realized that she wasn't Octavia Cosmo right now she was Bella, a lady who needed a job.
She bowed her head immediately as she felt Keir's gaze suddenly upon her.
"Where is your boss?" Keir asked June.
"She is at home," June replied raising her head to stare at Keir, she had been worried for a minute that he would recognize Octavia but he seemed oblivious.
"Very well," Keir said as the manager bowed her head to him alongside June and Octavia. "You both should follow me," Keir said staring at Bella and then back at June who had a perplexed look on her face, she didn't understand what was going on or why Keir would say such a thing.
