Chapter 178: Nothing Left To Hide
Sienna stood up from the recliner the moment she heard the doorbell ring. Her heart fluttered in her chest as she rushed over to the bedroom to have a quick look at her appearance. That was probably Alex. She thought, plastering a seductive smile on her face as she adjusted her off-the-shoulder dress.
The door swung open with a flourish, “Al…ex,” she drawled, only to realize it was Jeff. Her smile vanished, replaced by mild irritation. “Oh, it’s you.”
Jeff shoved past her and stepped in. “I guessed I was going to find you here. I’ve been waiting outside your lodge for ages.”
Sienna rolled her eyes and dismissed his anger with a wave of her hand, “Clearly, I wasn’t there.” She turned around only to be yanked back by Jeff. She let out a startled gasp, “Ouch, that hurts!”
“You dare humiliate her like that. You’re doing too much, Sienna, I’m warning you…”
“You’re warning me? Your bitch of an ex has Alex wrapped around her fingers. I’m only trying to get my man back.” She retorted furiously.
“You would not speak of her that way! She’s everything you’d never be!” Jeff shouted angrily, stunning Sienna. “You went too far. Spilling drinks on her, trying to hit her? Do you think Alex would appreciate you better with such gutter behavior? And then you even had the guts to embarrass her publicly. What right do you have to call yourself Alex’s fiancée? Aren’t you ashamed?” His gray eyes were dark with each word he spoke, rebuking Sienna mercilessly.
Sienna took a step back as a low hiss escaped her lips. “I did what I had to do, alright? Everything I’ve done is to get her out of the picture. You want her back, and I want Alex back. Why do you care how I go about it?”
Jeff shook his head as though he was listening to the most ridiculous thing. “This is not how to go about it. Surely, you can’t be blind? If it were me, I wouldn’t spare you another thought. Not when you’re acting irrational, and publicly no less.” He trailed his fingers through his hair in frustration.
Sienna watched Jeff pace in frustration. She rolled her eyes and went back to the recliner. “Oh, come on, Jeff. I know you're crazy in love with Brie, but you don’t expect me to be all kumbaya with her, knowing she’s been sleeping with Alex. Do you know how that makes me feel?”
Jeff’s eyes went cold. His jaw clenched at the image of Brie entangled with his brother. Ever since he knew about their secretive relationship, he’d never been the same. He would stay up all night, wondering if she moaned for his brother the same way she did for him back then. If she kissed Alex, the way she had kissed him. Unable to bear the thought, he would spend nights and days undergoing excessive workouts to get his mind occupied. But as soon as he was not doing anything, his mind wandered right back to her. He would send her messages and spend hours waiting for responses that never came. She had drawn the line between them perfectly from the very moment she found out about him and Libby.
God, he had been so stupid. She loved him, and he had messed up terribly.
Jeff shifted his focus to Sienna. “You’re going to lose him this way, and everything will be for nothing.”
Sienna scoffed, tossing her hair back. “Worry about yourself, Jeff. If I don’t break them apart, do you think you stand a chance with your precious Brie?”
Jeff’s jaw clenched. He didn’t say a word for a few minutes. When he spoke, his voice was clear and direct. “Everything that happened between Brie and me was entirely my fault. I’m to blame for that. If she’s going to forgive and come back to me truly, I have to work for it and show my sincerity.” He let out a deep breath, then shook his head. “I was a fool to have partnered with you and Naomi.”
Sienna’s expression shifted. ‘Wait, what? Naomi is interested in my Alex?” she asked, but Jeff was already out the door, leaving her alone in the calm tranquility of the living room space.
Sienna’s mind reeled as she thought about Naomi’s readiness to help her with information when she asked for her help. She almost laughed. Did Naomi think she was capable of having Alex?
A cold glint flashed in her eyes as she stared into space.
Her phone rang. It was a message from Naomi.
Meet me at the beach. The message read.
Sienna’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “You want me to do your dirty work, uh?” Sienna almost scoffed when she clocked Naomi's plan. She wanted Brie and Sienna to take each other out, brutally giving her room to make her moves unnoticed. She let out laughter that was almost borderline maniacal before grabbing her phone and walking out to the beach.
When Sienna arrived at the beach a while later. Naomi was already waiting impatiently.
“You’re late,” Naomi called out coldly.
Sienna ignored her tone and folded her arms. ‘What do you want?”
Naomi’s brow arched in feigned surprise as she looked at Sienna.
She hated this bitch! She thought. She had never seen someone so full of themselves.
“What’s with the attitude? I saved your ass back there today.” Naomi folded her arms. It was a glaring contest. Both women did not hide their displeasure in front of each other, now that they stood face-to-face.
“…Shouldn’t you be thanking me for my help?” Naomi continued, her tone laced with annoyance.
Sienna let out a mocking laugh. “Spare me the theatrics, Naomi. We both know that between hating Brie and having her publicly recognized as Alex’s girlfriend, you would rather choose the former. Even if it means partnering with your enemy, so cut the act. You did that for yourself.”
Naomi’s eyes narrowed slightly. She didn’t expect Sienna to clock her so fast. She looked away at the waves crashing against the shore as though reflecting. “I’ve got something for you. Good enough to ruin her.”
“How so?” Sienna’s heart jumped. She liked the sound of this.
“Brie loves her reputation. The only reason why you still get away with what you do is that she doesn’t want the backlash that would come out from not just dating her Boss but her ex-boyfriend’s brother.”
Sienna frowned slightly, irritation brewing beneath her surface at Naomi’s analysis. It was annoying, but the painful truth. And she knew that. She was riding on that for as long as Brie refused to come out.
“Go straight to the point. What do you have?”
Slowly, Naomi held out a USB flash drive. At the sight of it, a wicked smile curved Sienna’s lips as her fingers wrapped around it.
Still smiling, Sienna kept looking at the USB in her hands like a precious treasure. “And what’s in it for you this time?”
Naomi pursed her lips, her gaze steady on Sienna as she spoke. “Let’s just say, this is useless in my hands. And since you look like you need all the help, I just thought to myself, why not?”
Sienna nodded and watched Naomi turn on her heels. Her eyes were turning cold. Slowly, she called out.
“You know…” Sienna called out gently, causing Naomi to pause in her tracks, then turned to look over her shoulder at Sienna, who was now a step closer to where she stood.
“…Both you and Brie are quite pathetic. She doesn’t want a fall out publicly and you…” Sienna laughed softly. “You don’t have the guts to show Alex how you truly feel about him because deep in your heart, you know he doesn’t see you as beyond just his assistant. Pathetic.”
Naomi froze. Her chest was pounding loudly in her ears as she watched Sienna go.
How did she know? She thought she hid her cards perfectly. Sienna was too proud to ever pay attention to her. So how?
