Chapter 316 Thalia Is Too Arrogant, Right?
The other person couldn't dodge in time and fell into the flower bed by the roadside.
Thalia was about to steel herself, shift into reverse, hit the gas, then shift to drive, all in one smooth motion, and chase after them.
"Thalia's really going crazy, huh?"
"You think she's actually some innocent female celebrity?" Angelina rolled her eyes at Nicholas's words. With Hayden having fathered over a dozen illegitimate children outside, how could Thalia possibly be an innocent celebrity? What William went through today, Thalia had already been through several rounds of it.
Otherwise, how could most of Hayden's inheritance have ended up in her hands? Even if all those illegitimate children out there who hadn't gotten paternity tests yet knew who their real father was, it was already too late.
Nicholas helped Angelina up from beside the car, trying to prevent Thalia from splattering them with blood when she floored it.
Bang...
Just as Thalia's car was about to hit the person, it was flipped over by a van that came from the side.
In an instant, the man lying on the ground was pulled away.
"Daniel, come back, don't chase!" William saw Daniel get into Nicholas's car ready to give chase, and shouted to stop him. While shouting, he ran to the car, opened the door, and pulled Thalia out.
The car had flipped over so quickly that Thalia hadn't even had time to turn off the engine. The wheels of the overturned car were still spinning rapidly.
"Give me your hand!"
Thalia hadn't been wearing her seatbelt and had fallen into the car's body. When she reached out to William, she felt a bit dazed.
"If I died, what would you do?"
As William half-hugged, half-carried her out, he heard this question and answered without thinking. "Bury you under the pagoda tree outside the bedroom at Mistwood Hill."
Thalia added, "When I was little, I read a story collection. There was a story about a pagoda tree ghost. People buried under pagoda trees were all women who hanged themselves on the tree because their husbands were unfaithful."
Hard to say if it was romantic or deeply sinful.
William almost pulled back his outstretched hand. In this situation, there shouldn't be room for extra emotions, but looking at Thalia now, he had a guilty feeling of wanting to strangle her.
"Thalia, I really love and hate you at the same time."
"I'd better stay alive then!"
"Mistwood Hill isn't good enough for you?" William gripped her waist and lifted her out.
"My ashes aren't worth that much. I'm not good enough for you."
As soon as Thalia got out, her legs went weak. Fortunately, the man was quick and caught her. "I saved you, and now you're kneeling to me?"
Thalia rolled her eyes, too lazy to argue with William. "Carry me, my legs are weak."
Rather than making men guess what she was thinking, Thalia preferred being straightforward.
Low-level men can't figure it out when you play games with them, and high-level men have to pretend not to understand even when they do. So at times like this, it all comes down to willingness. Without willingness, nothing works.
Men! They know perfectly well when to play dumb.
It just depends on whether the woman is worth it.
"Haven't had this much excitement in years." Thalia complained.
Since her father died and there were no more illegitimate children fighting over the inheritance, her life had been as peaceful as could be.
If it weren't for William's situation today, she would have almost forgotten about her miserable past life.
"From now on, there'll only be more of this kind of excitement, not less." This was just the beginning. Daring to openly use guns in the city proved they didn't care about any of this and didn't worry about being exposed.
The Jimenez family really had guts. It seemed that one Michael really wasn't much at all.
Steven wanted him to go to Regal City - hard to tell if it was sincere or not.
"Hold onto the tree, stand up. I'm going to check on Angelina."
"What happened to her?"
"She's injured."
So it wasn't his blood just now? Thalia watched as William pulled Angelina out from behind the car.
"Mr. Brown, they went after them, everything's arranged. We... injured?" Finn rushed in, his words trailing off mid-sentence as his shocked gaze fell on Angelina.
"Head back to Mistwood Hill first, have Amara come over."
The group returned to Mistwood Hill. Fallon cleared out the extra people in the house - after all, this kind of injury wasn't ordinary.
If word got out, it wouldn't be appropriate.
Amara came in carrying a medical kit. Seeing blood staining half of Angelina's shoulder, she was startled. "How did this happen?"
"Gunshot wound."
Amara was shocked, her face full of disbelief. She had always thought this kind of thing was far removed from her life. Her instinct was to ask if they'd called the police!
But thinking about William and Thalia's special status, she stopped herself.
With Thalia's status, if she got involved in this kind of case, it would only be bad for her, no good.
Not to mention William.
"It's going to hurt a bit; try to bear with it."
Angelina nodded, indicating it was fine.
"Come here," before Amara picked up the tweezers, William patted Thalia's shoulder, his movement gentle with a hint of restraint.
Thalia followed him to the dining room. Seeing William pour a glass of water and hand it to her, she was a bit suspicious. "What's wrong?"
"Bloody!" The man said simply, those two words making Thalia's heart warm instantly. So he was worried she'd be scared? That's why he called her over?
The warmth of the glass transferred to her palm. Thalia held the cup and slowly rubbed it.
Thalia walked up to William with the cup. "If you protect me like this, I'll get used to it."
"Thalia, struggling is useless!" William glanced at her, seeing right through her conflict and struggle.
Thalia's nose tingled. She reached up to rub it, and by the time she realized it, William had already left the dining room.
Amara used the tweezers to drop something into the tray.
Looking at Angelina's wound. "Fortunately, it's not deep. Don't get it wet, rest for a few days."
"Caught in the crossfire!"
"I'm giving you time off!"
"If you still exploit me at a time like this, that would really be heartless."
William pressed his lips together without speaking. After all, they were indeed coming for her, and Angelina's injury should have been his.
"Mr. Brown, the people..." Finn rushed in, looking at William. He said half his sentence, but the other half didn't need to be said - from the expression on his face, everyone already understood.
"They got away? They let them escape? I got injured for nothing? Mr. Brown!"
"Don't worry, I'll let you get revenge. Continue!" William glanced at Finn.
The latter continued, "We almost caught up to them on the main road, but they turned into an alley. By the time we got there, they were gone. The car went into a pond - same method as last time."
