Chapter 232 You Are Miserable! You Bullied William's Sister
"Someone just tried to kill me. Where were you guys?" After Amara finished treating Chase's eyes, before she could give him any instructions, Chase grabbed her by the neck and demanded angrily.
"Should we call the police?" Amara asked calmly.
When Chase's fury met the indifference on Amara's face, most of his anger subsided.
Before Chase could react, he heard a carefree voice. Thalia was filming a video on her phone: "Mr. Brown, see that? Someone's bullying your sister. You gonna chop off their hands or what?"
Chase whipped his head around to look at Amara.
Last time at the Brown Villa, he was too busy battling wits with Thalia to pay attention to the other members of the Brown family.
But he had indeed heard long ago that William's stepmother's daughter was a doctor.
Amara stood up coldly and glanced at the nurse: "Come explain the precautions to him."
"Okay, Amara."
Thalia sent the video to William, and as she walked out, she gloated at Chase: "You're in trouble! Bullying William's sister."
Chase: ......"Get lost, will you."
.......
William had just left the restaurant when a black Maybach pulled up in front of him. In late June, Emerald City was shrouded in misty drizzle. Finn got out with an umbrella and opened the car door for him.
William bent down to get in the car, with government officials coming out to see him off.
Finn had just gotten into the driver's seat when someone rushed out of the club and hurriedly handed over a Rolex watch: "Mr. Brown, just a small token of appreciation, nothing much, hope you won't mind."
William looked at the gift box the man handed over and declined: "That's not necessary."
The person before him was Caspian Ward, Rainey's brother who was developing business in Emerald City. Today's dinner gathering was quite interesting in its arrangement.
People sitting together, all for money and profit.
And these financial interests could pull countless strings of relationships.
"Mr. Brown, please accept it. Only then can I feel at ease," the other party said with a somewhat cautious and flattering smile.
William hesitated slightly and nodded. Seeing him nod, Finn in the driver's seat sensibly pushed open the car door, got out, and took the gift box from his hands.
"See you."
"Mr. Brown, see you."
Rainey stood in place watching the three Maybachs leave before finally breathing a huge sigh of relief.
"Rainey? What's wrong? Mr. Brown agreed, you should feel relieved."
Rainey stood under the eaves and lit a cigarette: "Just appearances."
He couldn't tell Caspian that his people had offended William. Alfonso's matter wasn't resolved yet, and Thalia was a ticking time bomb that could explode at any moment.
"Why do you say that?"
Rainey tapped off some ash: "Forget it, I'll handle these things. Your task going forward is to do well with what's in your hands."
Power and wealth are inseparable.
Businessmen rank lowest. When the time comes, the Ward family will still have to rely on Caspian.
In the back seat of the Maybach, William slowly lifted his eyelids, watching the flying rain outside the window hitting the car glass.
After a moment of silence, he remembered something and asked: "Has Thalia gone home?"
"Fallon called to say she's back, went back with Amara."
"Amara?"
"Yes."
William acknowledged, now knowing. When he took out his phone, he saw messages from both Thalia and Amara. Chase was lying on the bed, scared stiff by her.
Like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.
William chuckled indulgently: "Little devil."
In the dining room, Amara and Thalia were wearing loungewear, cutting their steaks, the red wine in their glasses giving off a fragrant aroma.
Fallon waited at a distance, the cat rubbing against Amara's side.
When William walked in, he happened to hear Thalia ask Amara: "Does William have something going on in the capital that I don't know about?"
Amara's knife cutting the steak slipped far off course.
The harsh sound made Thalia's brows furrow together. Looking at Amara's shocked expression, she teased: "William doesn't have some lover outside, does he?"
"Then my dad would break his legs and neuter him," Amara reflexively replied. Vaughn was an upright person. If William dared to cheat, he could twist William's head off.
"Then what are you nervous about?"
"I'm nervous about you.........."
"What are you talking about?" William interrupted Amara and Thalia's conversation at the right moment. He was wearing a suit, carrying a gift box in his hand, standing at the dining room entrance. When the light fell on him, it brought a thin halo.
Thalia glanced over, somewhat dazed.
"Talking about whether you have a woman outside," Thalia had always been straightforward. Probably due to her childhood environment, she disdained lying to people, and no one was worthy of her lying. Moreover... Hayden was quite successful in family education - beat outsiders, not your own people. Habits ingrained in one's bones are hard to change. At home, you can quarrel however you want, but in front of outsiders, you must present a united front.
Thalia only showed her sharp tongue to William in familiar environments.
"Taking my money and still doubting my character?" William casually placed the gift on the table.
The sarcasm in his words was directed at Thalia.
He didn't notice at all that Amara had opened the gift box.
As soon as the box was pulled open, instantly, golden things neatly arranged appeared before her eyes.
A gasp immediately sounded........
"William, did you rob a bank vault?"
Amara stared at him dumbfounded.
When William got out of the car, he hadn't remembered this gift box until Finn came after him carrying something.
At first, he didn't care. Just a watch. How expensive could it be? He told Finn to take it away.
Finn looked troubled and informed him that the bag was very heavy and didn't look like just a watch.
Sure enough........ it wasn't a watch.
"Someone gave it to me."
"What kind of person? Giving you gold bars."
Compared to Amara, Thalia seemed much calmer. In business dealings, everyone had figured out clever ways to give gifts. Gold bars really weren't anything special.
William glanced at Thalia: "I'll leave it to you. I'm going upstairs to wash up."
"Can I keep it for myself?" Thalia asked, tilting her head.
"Between husband and wife, using the word 'keep' creates distance. What's mine is yours. If you want it, just take it."
Hearing this, Amara got excited and raised her hand like a monkey: "William, me me me me."
Before going upstairs, William deliberately looked back at Amara. With one glance, only Amara could understand the warning in it.
"Not you."
"Why? Am I not family anymore?"
"If Thalia takes it, she'll spend it on herself. If you take it, you'll save all living beings. The masses will be better off, while you'll be poor as a ghost wearing ten-dollar t-shirts."
"I'm doing good deeds! Accumulating virtue!"
"Amara, always remember one thing. A man, in this lifetime, can suffer hardship for his wife and children, can endure humiliation for his family, but he cannot do this for outsiders, because they don't deserve it, because you and I are both ordinary people."
"Leave saving all living beings to God."
