Chapter 72: Hawk's Eyes
Ryan's POV
I swirled the drink in the glass cup gently while I leaned my back on my high-back office chair.
It was impossible for me to calm the storm in my head.
Allis was the cause of that storm. I couldn't get myself to stop thinking about her.
No matter how hard I try to get myself back into her life, she shuts me away like I am not supposed to be seen around her.
She walked out on me in the clinic like I meant nothing to her.
The painful part is; as she's slowly slipping away from me, she's talking into the arms of that riff-raff, Lucas.
I can't let him have her—not while I'm still here.
“I'm sorry to bother you, sir.” Harry's voice cut through the silence.
My eyes blinked as I snapped out of my thoughts, then I looked straight at him.
Harrison is my head of security and I made him busy these past few days with a special job.
I had him keep track of Allis's every movement around and outside this city.
It might seem intrusive, but that's my own way of making sure she's safe.
I remained mute, arms folded as I waited for him to go ahead with whatever he had to say.
“You need to take a look at something, sir.” He gave me his tablet.
I blankly stared at it, unable to make it much from what I was seeing. “What am I looking at?”
“Our systems detected a data leak that might put Allis in jeopardy?”
My brows furrowed. “What kind of data leak?”
“I think it has something to do with the old corporate fraud case.”
I paused. “Do you know what you're talking about?” I asked. “That case has been buried.”
“Somebody is trying so hard to bring the case back.”
“Who?”
“I have no idea, sir. But I'll make more findings on that?”
Whoever is trying to do this really had something in mind.
I must warn Allis and also find a way to make sure that things don't get out of hand.
“What's the second problem? I can see her location here on your tablet.”
Harrison cleared his throat. His hands remained together right in front of him.
“She just left Olivia's house a few minutes ago, and she's on her way to meet a man in the park.”
I gasped as I jumped to my feet with my eyes widened. “What did you just say?”
“She's going to meet someone in the park, sir.”
“Weren't you able to trace the call?”
“I…I did, sir?”
“Then pull out some ID immediately!!” I slammed my hand hard against my desk.
He immediately grabbed his tablet and in no time, he turned it back to me.
My eyes narrowed as I stared at the image right before me.
It was Will.
Why would she be going to meet her ex-husband?
Anyways, I don't have time to think too much about it.
“Harrison, I need you and the others to get me more information about the data leak.”
I grabbed my coat. “Tell me driver to bring the car around now. I need to handle Will by myself.”
My SUV pulled up right at the park, and I glanced out through the tincted window to find Allis standing with Will.
I alighted from my vehicle and walked towards them without hesitating even a bit.
“What's he doing here?” Will flared as he caught sight of me.
Allis appeared puzzled. But before she counts utter any other word, I stood between her and Will.
“What is going on with you, Ryan?” Will sparked, eyes glaring at me with hidden rage.
I curled my fingers beside me as I looked straight into his eyes. “You're not allowed to be seen anywhere around her.”
Will smirked. “Who are you to speak up for her?”
I didn't say a word. I just moved away and allowed him see the look on Allis's face.
He could tell that she wasn't OK being around him, and that was enough to the work for me.
“You're going to regret this, Allis.”
“Leave!! You're not needed here.”
He turned and walked away without any further conversation.
Then Allis pulled me, forcing me to turn towards her, and a firm slap followed.
“What the hell is wrong with you?”
My hand was already on my left cheek. “I just helped you out.”
Her brows furrowed. “How did you find me?”
I went silent…dumbfounded. I didn't want to spill it.
“You've been stalking me?”
Shit! She figured it out.
“Allis, I won't put it that way.”
She scoffed and dug her hands into her waist. “Then how am I expected to put it?” she asked. “You literally pinned my location within seconds.”
“You can't keep shutting me out and expect me to stay away.”
“Ryan, I…” I aced my index across her lips while maintaining steady eye contact with her.
Her soft eyes were so charming that it was hard for me to take my eyes away from them.
I grabbed her arm and pulled her closer, causing her body to lean closer to mine.
She didn't say a word. I guess she was rather shocked.
“You can't push me away, Allis.”
“Ryan, I have more important things to take care of.”
“I'm not asking you to give them up. I know you have something for me. You can't deny it.”
She took a deep breath while she kept looking straight into my eyes.
I could see the softness in them. Her heart yearned for me, but he she kept pushing me away.
My phone suddenly chimed in my hand.
I turned the screen and took a quick glance at the message. It's from Harrison.
“The data has been leaked to the press. They are already pushing buttons and making arrangements to detain Allis.”
“What's the problem?” Allis caught the look of despair in my eyes.
“Allis, we have a huge problem.”
Her brows furrowed. “Can you speak to me in a language that I will understand?"
“I think Armando Enterprises is going for a huge breakdown if we don't act fast.”
You're all caught up
