Chapter 52

Alyssia

When reaching our first destination upon this crazy journey did a small piece of me wonder about all the possibilities. Having spotted the movie theater just moments before that a piece of me could hardly wait to get out.

My hands itching to undo my seatbelt even as Zac laughs.

“Easy baby. No need to rush, we have all day.”

“But daddy! If we don’t hurry up then all the good seats will be taken. Plus we need to get our snacks too.”

Another small chuckle rising. My mind suddenly confused.

“Daddy?”

“Sorry baby. But I guess it’s a good thing that I rented out the entire theater then.”

“Wait… the… whole… theater?”

“Yes.”

At the mention of that do my thoughts erupt into total chaos. How? How was that possible? How was this man able to rent out the entire theater on a budget built around a College Professor. In fact, how was he going to spoil me rotten like he said if he did something like that?

Zac as if sensing my thoughts finally speaks. “Don’t worry baby. I promise you, money isn’t an issue. Trust me.”

“But…”

“No buts” says Zac as he lays a finger against my lips. His eyes firm yet earnest. “I promise, I’ll explain it all later. But for now, allow me to enjoy this one simple task. Allow me to spoil my girl.”

My cheeks suddenly pink. Zac calling me his in any shape or form always had me melting. My heart a pile of goo. Yet deep down, I knew I couldn’t afford to slip up. Not when other people wanted me to.

“Now then, no more worrying. This is 100 percent my treat you got it.”

“Yes…”

“Yes what?”

“Yes daddy.”

“Good girl. Now then, let’s go pick out a movie to watch shall we?”

Nodding my head slowly, I allow Zac to guide me inside. The place totally empty and while I was grateful I also didn’t want to look desperate. Especially since I wasn’t that type of woman who’d take people for granted.

“So, have you decided on a movie?”

“No. There’s just so many to choose from.”

And there was. That was no lie. My eyes scanning over each movie. Movies such as Lilo & Stitch to Avatar: Fire and Water. There was also How to Train Your Dragon and of course my all-time favorite movie Jurassic Park.

A smile steadily rising. Something about giant robotic dinosaurs that created chaos around the world a staple from when I was little. The first three movies a classic and when they began making more I was totally in.

Yet the lady standing at the front counter was both friendly yet disinterested in anything I might have needed to say. Her eyes focused on Zac’s. Zac’s focus still on me that he wasn’t aware of her gaze. My teeth biting my lower lip.

“Okay, I think I know what movie to watch.”

“Okay, which one?”

“The new Jurassic Park one.”

Suddenly unsure if Zac managed to hear me correctly or not, does Zac ask again. “The new Jurassic World Movie? You sure baby?”

“Yes” I answer him back. A giggle soon rising upon seeing his face. His face unmistakenly confused. “Yes daddy, I want to see that one. Please.”

“Alright baby” answers Zac once his moment of confusion wore off. His eyes now on the lady who stood at the counter. “Two tickets please.”

“Okay Sir. Two tickets coming right up.”

The lady soon printing two tickets before handing them over. Tickets that Zac instantly takes before guiding me to where the popcorn and snacks were. My belly soon rumbling at the thought of finding something to share.

~ Concession Stand ~

Upon reaching the concession stand do my eyes scan frantically over my choices. My choices unlimited. Even as the yummy smells began hitting my nose. Suddenly unsure if I wanted popcorn, pizza, nachos or pretzels.

My body literally bouncing in place.

Zac just watching while the sweet innocent boy stood waiting for our order. An order I soon give once settled upon popcorn and soda along with some Twizzlers. Because no matter the movie, it was never complete unless you had Twizzlers to eat.

Zac just smiling while offering to share the huge bucket of popcorn all while ordering himself a soda as well. The two of us now ready to take on the dinosaurs. A giggle suddenly stirring.

Zac careful when grabbing the popcorn while I headed to grab us our drinks. Me a Dr. Pepper and Zac a Pepsi. Once done we begin heading for the theater in which our movie was placed. Our movie currently scheduled in room 5.

Butterflies dancing within me.

“Are you ready baby? Ready to see dinosaurs in action as they eat and kill people?”

“Naturally, are you?”

“I am”

Giggling, I try not to drop our drinks. Zac just smiling while guiding us towards our seat. A thought instantly rising. “You know, I kind of wish that dinosaurs were still real.”

“Oh? And why’s that sweet girl?”

Pausing, I debate about saying. Unsure if he would approve of my choice. A choice that could solve all of our problems. An answer I offer up willingly. “So they could come here and eat Mr. Lane, Mr. Hendricks and of course Brian, my stupid Ex-boyfriend. It would all be perfect if they would just magically vanished.”

Zac now quick to find humor when I myself couldn’t. A low rumble soon rising between his lips, even as he spoke. “I know sweet girl. Trust me, I’d wish for that too if it made life more simpler for you. But sometimes things don’t always go according to plan.”

A small sigh soon rising. A sigh that said I knew. My shoulders soon sagging as we eventually find our seats. Zac careful when guiding. The two of us quiet even as Zac began helping me get settled.
